Using Velvet Animas and sound great but the G string is a bit hard to get a consistent tone (arco wise) out of without the odd squeak, my bass will only accept low tension strings, any recommendations.

I've been following this thread and thought I'd throw in my experience.

I have a set of Ultimate Ears UE7-Pros and a Sennheiser G3, I run my basses from a Stageclix in to an Avalon U5 straight in to a X32 and run a through in to an Aguliar DB751 and DB212. I use an iPad to control my own mix. I sing BV's and use a Sennheiser e865.

The sound is wonderful and for anyone who's interested it's definitely worth it, everything is clear, rich and precise and unless you are using optigates on the mic's there's a nice level of ambience.

I would love one of these and I agree with all you've said my only problem is that my end pin rubber touches the end pin housing in other words I have no end pin at all (big bass little guy) any ideas

Got this about 6 weeks ago from fellow basschatter MXM to do some song that we aren't going to do now and I need a new wireless in ears transmitter.

It has a power supply but no box or instructions, it works as far as can know MXM sent me a pdf link to the G5 and has some really usable sounds.

Velvet Animas or Evah weich's with a cash adjustment haven't tried the Weichs yet so I'm interested as I reckon they'll be better on the bow

Just spent 2 days in the studio recording various music song etc. all the points above are right on the money, yes you need a good bass the right strings etc. and a good mic. I'm a big fan of ribbon mics but my biggest observation is the better I play the better I sound recorded.
