The fully list is:
5 mesh pads (PD80), 1 mesh pad (PD80R), 1 kick pad (PD105), 1 'basic pad' (PD7), 3 cymbal pads (CY12RC), Hi-hat pedal (FD6), double kick pedal, TD8 module, Roland PM10 amp, Pearl roadster throne, headphones, sticks, rack and all mounts for all pads, extra cymbal stand, all cables etc obviously.
Ok, with that list and specification in mind, I’d take a step back and ask what will that kit offer you, that the Millenium one wouldn’t for half the price? For arguments sake.
This used one has; an included (albeit basic and old) double pedal, a stool, and a speaker system.
A comparable pedal could be bought for £50, a stool for the same, and I’ve found a PM10 on eBay for £50 too but I don’t massively rate them. Instead, I’d think about an FRFR wedge that could then do double duty for bass guitar.
The Millenium would give you a far more modern module, a proper hi-hat, more up to date sensors, and be new and thus have the warranties and such. And be half the price.I think Roland are the best by far, but if you were to go that path I’d either advocate knocking this seller down a couple hundred to maybe the £700 mark, or looking at the TD12 or newer offerings on eBay, so you get a later generation of control unit and sensors.

I can’t see a hi-hat foot controller in any of the photos. Is there one? If not, you’d need to factor in that purchase.

I'm leaning towards that Roland TD8 kit I mentioned in the earlier eBay link...
It comes with 6 mesh pads, 3 cymbal pads, 1 basic pad (where the hi-hat is), a pearl roadster throne, a double kick pedal, a Roland PM10 amp, the TD8 module and a few other extras, so as much as the TD8 is an older module, there is a lot on offer and I think it represents a decent package deal particularly as I definitely want a double kickset up.
Whats your thoughts based on everything included AND it being very local for a package price of £900?
It’s a old and basic single drive double bass pedal, so I don’t think it adds much value. The main thing that irks me looking at that listing is how jaunty the current owner has it set up, and from that I infer that they don’t know much about drumming/drums so I wonder how well it’ll have been looked after.
Breaking it down, the core ‘must have’ things I’d want from an electric kit are: a proper hi-hat, mesh pads, multi-zone sensors, and a decent rack.
It doesn’t have a proper hi-hat. It does have mesh. The cymbals are only dual-zone (personally I’d be wanting three-zone), the snare is only dual zone (again, I’d be looking at three), and the toms are only single (I’d be wanting dual). The control unit is quite outdated meaning that even if you upgrade the sensors down the line, it won’t be able to handle their functionality.
I wouldn’t turn my nose up completely at this kit, but I would at £900. Looking elsewhere online, a more modern TD-12 based kit can be had for a similar price ticket used.

I spent a year trying to work out how to build a sound proof studio either in my house or in my garden and after accepting that it was either impossibly expensive or would ultimately make my house collapse, or would spring a leak behind 4 layers of green glued sheet rock if built outside.
I had the same decision, but decided to go the other way. But if I had to have an electric kit, it’d be a Roland and the 30 or higher depending on budget at the time.
If anyone was wondering, it's not that the drums are small, it's that the cymbals are big.

What do people think of this set-up? Any good for the price?

It looks to be quite an old version. I'd be looking for one with a proper hi-hat, rather than just the pad sensor.

Don't get me wrong, an acoustic kit is definitely the way forward, but it just isn't viable for so many reasons... predominantly because I live in a terrace house and my neighbours would literally have me killed if I started bludgeoning their ears with the smashery of acoustic drums!
@Bankai - that Millennium kits looks interesting... I'll have a good solid look at that, thanks!
-
I won't pretend this is as good as a TD-30KV, but it's got a lot and for not much cost.
-
Rolands are king but they have the pricetag to match.
If you're going budget, then Thomann sells their own under the Millenium brand. The higher end ones out of that line will beat anything else for the same or similar prices.

No early nibbles at the asking price, so I’ll consider offers.

Has anyone experience of a Laney Nexus Tube Head?
There's one on eBaY AT £599
A more modern and British sounding SVT-2 Pro is how I’d describe it when I heard one. Certainly not a bad amp at all. Not sure of the going rate on them though

Are you looking for trades or is it just for sale only
Cheers
I’d consider a trade but I’m not after anything specific. I suppose I could be tempted by something special though

I notice a couple of people recommended the AD200B. Conveniently, I’ve just listed one for sale..
-
So, it’s one of those grail amps; the AD200B. I won’t explain the specs behind it, because the Orange website will do it far better than I can.
This one was UK made, in 2008. It was owned from 2008-2018 by the Canadian band; Cancer Bats. It was their EU touring rig, and lived in the U.K. and was used by them heavily during that period. They (being good Canadians) also lent it out to a few Canadian bands who came over for EU tours (PUP to name but one).
At the tail end of 2018, Cancer Bats swapped to the Orange OB1 for ease and this AD200B became surplus. I bought it from their EU tour manager, who’d been keeping it on their behalf.
Living such a lifestyle meant that the amp picked up quite a bit of mojo, but it was recently professionally serviced by my local valve amp repair centre and given a clean bill of health. So while it may look a tad worn on the outside, internally it’s all good! This was an impulse purchase for me. I’d been planning to open a music venue last year, and I bought this with the intention it would have become the house bass amp. Alas, coronavirus hit and it’s safe to say I won’t be able to make my venue dream come true any time soon as a result. As such, time to face reality and shift it.
A google search shows that the price for one of these new is currently about £1500-1700 depending on the retailer. You also get the custom fit wheeled flightcase (in matching orange obviously), which would cost about £300 on its own, making it about a £1800-2000 package.
I am asking for
£900£600. What a steal right?
Collection from Surrey, or I meet you somewhere around the M25 or south east.

And rather bizarrely at our current rehearsal rooms - when we’re allowed to rehearse of course - there’s one like it there. The difference in the eq I need on my amp for it is pretty shocking - in the other rooms I just set up as would be expected but this specific one, well again it’s cut lows and boost highs pretty much all the way. Rotten cab, we’ll avoid that room once we can go back.
There was a period of a few years post 2000 (can’t remember the exact year) onwards where Ampeg still manufactured in America but used chipboard for the cabinet. Any from that era are generally disliked and thought of as dark sounding. After they went overseas, they went back to plywood and the issue went away.

In my 10+ years on this forum, I’ve seen countless members remark that if only they were younger and had a better back, they’d be running X or Y rig.
I therefore feel it is my civic duty as a 28 year old with a functioning spine, to own such a rig. Sadly it’s consigned to a storage unit at the moment because COVID.
I present you a ‘97 USA made SVT-II Pro, complete with a battered USA made SVT-810E.
Yes, it truly is what dreams are made of.

Cant understand what he's saying but that bass makes great noises!
Maybe I just hold off and save my pennies for this. If I was going new I would probably go relic so this model would be the most sensible option for what I'm looking for! Really appreciate all the insight though, will prove helpful for others wondering about Sandbergs.
Since trying a VM4 ten years ago, it’s the Bass I’ve sought after ever since. And when I looked at them all that time ago I decided I’d want a hardcore aged black with black hardware.
Fast forward to now, and they happened to bring out exactly that as an off the shelf model in the form of the Reidel signature. Perfect! And it’s a bonus I really love that band!
I dropped an audio sample of it in this thread a few pages back.

You'll get a VM4 but it won't have the Black Labels as standard. Can't say i've seen one fitted with them.
Its the VM4 i have and its a fantastic bass to be honest.
A good condition VM4 2nd hand will typically cost £1000 upwards. Mine was £1200.
Not sure what you paid for your VS4 but additional £500 to get the bass exactly as you want it doesn't seem so bad.
Of course you could sell the VS4 to help finance the VM4.
Some hard decisions needed i think but good luck with what you decide on.
Dave
I have the VM4 Reidel which has them fitted as standard. Would recommend!

i did have a search about for something that would let me max my SVT to get a bit of grind going but i couldn't find anything, so i am now considering a vb4 instead and slightly worried if it would be loud enough especially through a Barefaced two10. i can see me getting one and then another two10 cab.
Radial JDX Reactor goes to 300W. That’s the highest one I know of.

The only thing I’d intervene with is the monitor.
It’s hard to replicate the bass drum and unless you have a decent wedge it will struggle. Easy way around that is headphones.
Can you see many circumstances in which you’d need to use a monitor instead of headphones? If no, I’d stick with a decent set of headphones for now. If yes, I’d potentially go higher with the spec of the monitor.
