  1. Hello all, Expensive bills are terrible and unfortunately I'm facing a few of them so my main bass has to find a new home! I've owned this since 2010 and it's been my main bass in that time. I've rarely played for the last two years so it doesn't see as much action as it used to.

This is a 2005 Fender USA Standard Series P-Bass. Unmodified from stock.
It has a few tiny marks that you'd expect from normal use but it is free of any serious damage.
The USA models of this period were given the S1 switch as standard which is uncommon for a P-Bass, and it's quite a handy tool.

I'm in Surrey, and ideally looking for someone to collect. Please PM me if you'd be interested!

  2. Hello all,

As you'll probably know, the Aguilar Tonehammer is a coveted mini-head capable of producing the sounds you'd only expect from a big stack.
I'm now selling mine as I don't play anymore, and it's in brilliant condition. I've been the owner for the last couple of years, and it's not got even a scratch on it and it works flawlessly.
Any more questions, feel free to ask. I haven't said much on the amp because we all know what wonders it can do!

Not looking for trades at this stage I'm afraid.

Will consider offers if you collect and save me the hassle of posting!

  3. This man bought an amp from me. Refreshingly, there were no issues, no messing around, he came heard me play it for a minute then showed the cash!

Would happily take him out for a nice fish supper, and I'd call him after.

love Tesseract, though its taken me a while to like the new vocalist, the first album i prefered vocal wise, but hes growing on me. The technicality of playing this stuff is amazing, trying to tap along can be really tricky
and if you like Tesseract check out Periphery, though vocals are a bit heavier

Tesseract now have their original vocalist back! He rejoined for the third album! I agree, he's much better than the guy they had in during the second album.

I'm a big fan of periphery too, as well as heart of a coward, meshuggah, et al!

  6. They're good. They've been good since their first album. However, they've just released their third and it's really really good. The bass tone in particular I think is amazing. Sure, there may be more technical bassists out there, but I think it's really tight playing by their bassist on this record. I know it's quite heavy so may put off quite a lot because metal is an acquired taste, however hopefully that won't be a barrier

Here's a playthrough video by the bassist from one of their recent singles:

Admittedly, not the fastest or most complex bass part, however it's played with such brilliant dynamic control and in time signatures that I certainly can't manage! Plus, there's no reliance on effects pedals. He's just going preamp -> recording interface and it sounds phenomenal!

Thoughts? Are there any other Tesseract fans amongst you? :)

It's not just the bass that is great, the vocalist is really good. It's quite rare to hear 'proper' signing in heavy metal, especially so well executed. The first of the two links below is a good example of his great voice.

Here's another couple of singles of theirs, should you be tempted:

  7. I use these to attach microphones for recording ambient crowd:

That way I can clamp the microphone to the PA stands, mic stands, lighting truss, etc, as appropriate.

If you look at videos from big gigs and festivals, you'll see those LP Claws in use everywhere and for everything! They're very handy!
