One of the best melodic bass players certainly and patently some who strived to learn and improve.
I read a magazine interview with Flea in which he stated that among his many influences, McCartney stood out for his melodic basslines and strongly influenced his thinking on many of the Chilli Peppers slower numbers. Interestingly, in the same article he cited Paul Simenon as another
This figures - surely Give It Away is a direct descendent of Come Together -
James bought a bass from me. Great communication and very trustworthy, recommended

Funkin for Jamaica is my favourite. Makes perfect sense on a real bass too

OK folks up for sale is my Warwick Streamer stage 1 NT 5 string.
Flamed maple with Akanga stripes, wenge board, MEC humbuckers and active 3 band eq, made 2004
Fantastic bass, does the lot - classic growl, great Zender through your Fenders to a very hifi Ken Smith like modern sound. Pretty much immaculate, no dings, been waxed regularly, new jack socket
19-20mm spacing at the bridge, but fully adjustable, set up really nicely, neck is wide but not deep and really comfortable to play. Weight is about 9lbs and very comfy on the strap
Reason for sale is I got this for a project that never got off the ground, and an incoming Sadowsky Fl means I need to generate cash, so not after trades I’m afraid.
I’m into this bass for £1k and Thomann are currently asking £2400, so I’m asking £850 firm, which I think is very reasonable. Comes with newish padded Warwick gig bag, some wax, straplocks and truss tool
Anyone is welcome to come and try this beauty out in the Bath/Bristol area. Collection preferred but can post at your expense, or meet within reasonable distance
thanks for looking

Think I prefer Zenders too. It's tighter, funkier and more focussed. The album version is more lyrical and flowing but lacks the immediacy and punch of the single, bit too much cheba

Janeks podcasts or 'basscasts' are very good too. Free on iTunes if you like 'that kind of thing'

Thanks for that, really enjoyed it. Nice to see Raven getting some props too

Sold now, thanks for all the enquiries. Donation to BC on the way -
Its mine too, but i need to free some cash for a nice 5 string Sandberg.
This bass has a really warm, woody, organic sound and so easy to play because of its 34" scale and adjustable string spacing.
sounds tasty, what colour? -
Thank god! This has been driving me mad. Such a bargain, deserves a loving home
Bear in mind also that Entwistle had dozens of basses - Jaco had one that recorded all his classic moments and arguably the most ground breaking bass solo album ever - yep, this one, The Bass of Doom
Its like saying one of Pete Townsend's countless Les pauls or SG's is worth at least as much as Eric Clapton's Blackie. It ain't. Period
spot on Clarky, I have a book of Entwistles bass collection, goes on forever. Only one BOD innit -
I completely disagree with your view of pricing.
The reason being is that Entwistle was a member of The Who, who were massive in their heydays and known globally. Pastorius while a very good jazz bassist and did a lot for the instrument, is practically unknown outside of specific music circles.
Part of the value of Entwistles' was due to his fame and popularity, Jaco simply doesn't have that and won't command the same price imo.
and £65 for a happy ending!?!? -
