'I want you back' by the Jacksons. Groovy with some fiendish arpeggios later on
-
I can vouch for TI and Labella flats as great singing low tension strings for FL.
Been wondering about DR Sunbeams and Lo Riders recently, anyone got an opinion on these or A/B'd them? -
Traded basses long distance with Darren, a hassle free and smooth transaction. Recommended

Sounds good, not made one of these yet so it's in the diary!
Tim Smith of Cardiacs, doubtless genius and it is a true shame that he hasnt got the credit he deserves, one of Englands finest.
He is quite ill still after having a heart attack and stroke but on the mend apparently...how on the mend remains to be seen.
yes! the creative force behind the single most underrated British band of the modern era. genius. zappa yes. miles yes -
Both brilliant, both different, neither one trick ponies either. MKs fingerstyle on Chinese Way - Fleas on You Oughtta Know etc

Ooooh tricky one, but I always find Tal Wilkenfelds solo with Beck really inspirational

Love it man, so many of those gospel players are amazing. Had the chance of a Moon last year, hmmm one that got away...

Yeah man, I was gonna put that video up, its one of my favourite live RnB videos. The band is smokin, shame it wasn't the same one she brought to Glasgow a couple of years back.
such a great arrangement, and that 55-94 sounds sick too -
loving this thread too! this one has great lines across the beat

Bought a Lakland DJ from Gavin. Held it for me a couple of weeks, smooth deal, recommended

Sorry can't help with the tab, but yeah, one of the greatest… and from a great album too

Anyone going to the Hugh Cornwells Rattus Norvegicus shows is in for a real treat. Caroline Campbell a great player, does JJ's lines really well, great sound, tons of attitude and verrry easy on the eye Hugh played his new album (pretty good), then the whole of Rattus in order and encored with Straighten Out, Golden Brown and No More Heroes, great evening

Yes, can post to London for price advertised -
Love this thread, not much more to add except to agree most of their best featured Jeff Baxter. My favourite Dan track changes, but Gaucho slays me every time. Do ND play it Pete?
-
Midweek loads of interest but still available bump
-
I have the fretless version of this, it was my workhorse bass for 10 years, really well put together instrument and sounds great.
This is a bargain, wouldn't let mine go that cheap -
Price drop weekend bump

yeah, funky as f**k!
…and +1 for soloing in the lower register, funny how that seems to be the exception these days
String advice for fretless!
I'm a big DR Sunbeams fan. In fact I have the same DR strings on my fretted and fretless basses as I love em so much.
For me they have a wonderful flexibility and feel for a start. The tone doesn't fade in the way that stainless steels strings seem to. So they treble-fade much slower and so you don't really notice it. For me, months go past and I suddenly think: Oh Gosh I should be changing strings but the tone is lovely that I'm loathed to.
I have a Jaco Fender Jazz fretless with an epoxy'd rosewood board - for me this creates the Jaco tone that I love. It is really melodic and sweet. On my Cliff Bordwell fretted ball bass the Sunbeams get the most out of the Audere pre I have on board. The bass, mids and treble EQ all respond tunefully to the string/pickup/pre system I have. I have Nordstrand big singles PUs.
Try them out - I would be surprised if you really didn't like them.

thanks for that, reckon I'll give them a whirl!
