Sorry for the snippiness Chris, but the question was "Anyone have any experience buying/fitting said items?" I know hardware stores do castors, too - I was asking if... oh, never mind.
Blue Aran, B&Q etc, or lots of local hardware shops.
Except that B&Q don't do removable castors, and the only ones Blue Aran do a removable plate for are 4" dia, 600Kg load and £20 each. But you knew that before replying, right?

OK, I'm looking for a set of removable castors (or even casters) for a cab, and for once t'internet's not exactly forthcoming with suppliers. Anyone have any experience buying/fitting said items? Ta, Muzz

OK, seeing as we're gigging some bigger venues now, I've gravitated to the Roland D-Bass combo again (and with my newly-acquired extension 115X it's got a huuuuge sound - 660w of FFP-controlled deep goodness) and so the foray into smaller amps has ceased. Which is an unfeasibly long-winded way of saying I'm selling a small amp. Picked this up an a whim, and although it's got a really lovely clean sound and weighs next to nothing (2.5lb), 150w isn't quite cutting it with our new louder setup. I believe these are particularly good with EUB, and I can see it being ideal in a more, erm, subtle band. It's so small and light I carry it in its own carry bag inside my rucksack. Marvellous. Specs available here: http://www.philjonesbass.com/pjbdirect/pro...;products_id=47 Anyway, it's completely as new, it's been played at home a couple of times and rehearsed with once. Comes in the bag and with the manual. They're at Bass Direct for £299, you can have it for £210 posted to the UK.
Yep I really must get my act together and find a reasonably priced way of shipping to the Uk. They're not that heavy really. Just quite big.
I shipped a bass over to Dublin recently, and the best quote by far was from APC Couriers. Great service, too. Maybe worth giving them a shout for a quote... Cheers, Muzz

Dunlop 88s for me, too - for about the last quarter of a century... I think I've settled on them now...

For my part, Allen's a gent, easy pleasant transaction all round - oh, and big up to APC couriers, too.

I played the Eden Nemesis 15" combo recently (the RS115), and was mighty impressed - they're around the £600 mark. I'm using a Roland D-Bass 115 at the mo, and it's a great combo if you can find one - light and loud. List price on them has gone silly, but they can be a secondhand bargain, as they're not fashionable.
What do you mean when you say that, please? I tried one of these in a shop and if I had the money right now, I'd bite your hand off.
I just don't get on with the neck profile on Warwicks. I thought I would get used to it when I bought this one, but it's been getting less and less use as I'm switching between my Ray and my Overwater, and it's such a nice bass it's a waste sat in its case. As a consequence, it's completely unmarked and criminally underplayed. The sound is immense (huuuuge output), and it's so versatile. Hey ho. Someone will get a pristine $$ NT, and I'll get to indulge my seemingly ever-present GAS...

Well, after an extended studio session, and as much as I looooove my Overwater, my Ray is top of the list now. Took six basses along to play with sounds, and spent a long time faffing about before I spotted the last case I hadn't opened and said "hang on, let me try this..." flattened the mids (it's a 3EQ), everything else up, bada bing. Instantly the sound I was after. So, although the Overwater is the one on the stand in the house permanently (can't walk past without picking it up - it's a woody work of art), the Ray is the new go-to bass for me. I'm even selling the $$ NT on the strength of this. Black and maple, too - the best colour combo for me...

Edit - SOLD, and on it's way to the Emerald Isle... Here's my Corvette NT $$ Bubinga, up for trade. It's a maple neck with ekanga (?) veneer stripes and bubinga body wings, and a wenge board. 34" scale, 24 frets. Pickups are passive humbuckers with individual 3-way switching (serial/paraller/single coil) and switched active 2 band EQ. I'm not sure about the weight - my scales are garbage - but I've seen it listed as either 3.8 or 4.6kg. I'd say the lower figure's the more accurate one. I've never gigged it, so it's in immaculate nick - I can't find a mark on it, and it plays and sounds the way it should: absolutely bloody enormous. It's just I'm having to come to terms with the fact that I'm not a Warwick player. Such a shame, because it's a beautiful bass, but just not me. Comes with a hard case. Given the much-mentioned poor timing at the moment for a sale, I'm looking for trades for this, so feel free to PM me with anything you think might be a goer. I'm GASing for a jetglo Rickenbacker, but I'll consider all sorts, preferably four string. OK, edit to this - I guess I'd take a straight £850 for it, too. Just a few pictures, but if anyone wants any more, I can take them. Cheers, Muzz

I'd like the Jetglo 4001 I sold in the mid-80s (1985, I think) to fund an Aria ZZB*. If whoever's got it can get it back to me, I've still got the £250 he gave me for it, and we can swap back... Oh, and the same deal applies for the black and maple 70s Precision I sold for £180, too. M * Ah, the folly of youth. As nothing, however, compared to the electric blue spandex trousers...

OK, an older shot, but it's full-on sofa action: Goodfellow (now gone), Overwater, 05 'ray, 78 Jazz, BB3000A, Cort (now gone), sofa at least 15 years old, genuine relic with tons of mojo. Gotta be worth £2.5k to the right buyer...
