9.
What ever your opinion of mojo'd/refin etc its obviously not a stupid thing to say - facts are facts and furthermore there would be no market for closet classics, roadworn etc basses if there were not a demand for older basses to look, well, old
I'll disagree - because the only relevant fact is the price agreed between a buyer and a seller. All else is opinion. Peace my fellow bassmanics
 10.
Yes. They probably will.
Hopefully I'll be selling to a player - the bass is a fabulous tone monster.
 11.
It sure is a lovely bass - and a great era for lightweight Jazzes - but this is almost certainly a '74 not a '73 due to the white, not black, blocks and the thumb rest being located on the E string side of the plate - both recognised '74 Fender Jazz appointments. In the vintage bass market a refin is a refin; it's always been that way and always will unfortunately. People pay a premium for the originality of a bass and the finish (the body paint) is probably the most crucial element, irrespective of its actual condition. Still, if you get the money you're asking then you'll done really well - Jimmy Moon did a beautiful job!
People pay a premium for a variety of reasons in my experience. Some prefer the original state no matter what - I loathe beaten up guitars. Other values include the increasing rarity (and hence the rising prices) the feel, the tone, the playability, genuinely vintage pups and tone circuitry and so on. For me the tone and playability always count highest - but I wouldn't be seen dead with a scabby looking bass. There's a '69 Jazz in at Moon's just now to be restored. To be honest - to suggest this mans artistry is a refinish makes a mockery of the work he does. Some share my opinion - others very clearly don't. Nae bother.
 12.
Lemme guess....refinish? Si
Nope!
 13. And it's now sold - many thanks guys for all the interest
 14.
+1 but I wonder if the seller, despite the wonderful photos, appreciates this?
No I didn't appreciate this - I'm lucky to know what day it is.
 15.
Its a beautiful bass but does refinishing not seriously devalue a vintage instrument rather than push the price up? Anyone know about this.
It depends on whether you want a vintage instrument for tones and playability and a choice of battered or gleaming finish. I had valued the instument on it's playability and tone - absolutely wonderful as they are and not on the finish. Others have different views. But, I'm open to offers and don't now expect to get what I had originally asked for. I could beat it up if required
 16. Hi Guys - offers around the £750 mark which will include case and UK delivery for this beauty. As ever - more pics to follow
 17.
I'm sure I recall you saying that you'd buy me a pint if you didn't shift this bass at that price! Si
HA! Get them in barman - I'm paying!
 18.
How much are you asking for?
Ebay prices would suggest something north of £1400 - but I'm open to offers. Anything over £1400 and I'll certainly be selling Deliver included too!
 19.
Does it come with straplochs?
Not only was that a bit of a red herring, it lacked sole for Cods sake... Taxi!
