  2. Sure, I'm sold out at the moment. I'm going to make a batch of these plates during winter.

  4. For bridge ground wire I've made a"drill" out of a bicycle spoke. Tap one end flat, file it like a spade blade and drill away. Just big enough hole for ground wire.
  5. I've used ABM, ETS, Hohner and Nova headless tuners. Nova is by far the smoothest and easiest to tune. They are also the lightest.
  6. On my latest headless I made the neck about 15mm past the string clamp. When I cut the strings they were still over the neck and somewhat protected.

My RB800. Refinished, truss rod and fretboard changed, custom Wal-like eight coil pickups. All done at my shop. Next is filter based preamp. Nice player and great sound.
  9. That inlay idea looks great, it has a sort of M on the legs. I like it!
  10. Wow, one of my tinkerings on an international discussion forum! Glad to hear you like the bass! Marko
  11. I took a mold of an original Steinberger pivot plate. I’d need an original lefty pivot plate for taking a mold of a lefty. I guess lefties are even more difficult to find than righties. I coul make a lefty, but for one I’d have to make a reverse version of a righty (quite a lot of work as the plate is concave 3d shape) and make a mold of that before making sellable plates. For even some monetary value for time it’s not worth making as I guess there’s not too many buyers for lefties.
  12. You mount the pivot plate thru the middle hole. A countersunk screw (or bolt if you prefer threaded inserts) and a rubber washer is all that’s needed to mount the plate. The plate svivels and strap mounts to the two remaining holes. Just like the original but with simpler mounting hardware.
  13. 80€ plus shipping, (about 10€ to Europe).
  14. It’s basically just a 1:1 shape and contour copy of the original Steinberger plate with simpler mounting.
  15. If anyone is interested in buying a carbon/glassfiber composite Steinberger pivot plate copy please pm me. I have three plates for sale atm.
  16. Making a carbon fiber instrument is not more difficult than working with wood. It’s just different, in many ways even easier. If interested, please check out https://www.talkbass.com/threads/winter-2017-build-off-carbon-headless-bass.1259505/
  17. I think Moses Steinberger neck and Hohner tuner/bridge will not match. The neck is for narrower string spacing.
  18. I hope I get this right and the pics show. The bass is made by me. The pickups are cloned after the thread and info found on Pickup makers forum. Coill dimensions, wire, magnets, keeper bars etc. are very close to Wal. Pickups are also made by me. Preamps are made from schematic made by RobbieK from Talkbass. They are not Wal clone, but work in similar way. They have adjustable resonance frequency and switchable boost of 6dB. If you want to find out more about the basses I've made please search Talkbass for user MPU. edit: I don't know why the body pics show upside down no matter what I do. edit2: Weight of the bass is around 4 kg. Will ship in a hard case. I don't have a case yet, but Gator case will add around 80€. Shipping to Europe is somewhere around 65-70€. RESERVED AND SOLD AT THE MOMENT
  19. Sound clip at https://maihinnousu.net/s/27621 Please click Kuuntele for listening or Lataa for download. Both pickups on. just playing with resonance and boost. As you can hear, the boost is subtle but it is there. I tried with bigger boost but I think it's easy to boost so much that the sound is not usable anymore. Marko
  20. I'll try to make a clip later today.
  21. Walnut/maple/mahogany body, maple/mahogany/pao ferro neck with dual action truss rod, 34"scale, Schaller hardware, 8-coil pickups in MM covers, filter preamp for each pickup with adjustable resonance frequency and switchable boost, Tru oil finish. Will ship anywhere, the bass is in Finland. Buyer pays shipping. Pic at https://muusikoiden.net/dyn/tori/292298.jpg More pics and info via email.Marko
  22. If you want to have one more option for pickup I can wind you four round coils (like the coils on Wal pickups) that you can mount in round holes about 20mm diameter. If you want to check my work please search for MPU in Talkbass or Pickup makers forum.
