1. Hi Tambourine for sale. Red half moon design. Good condition. £5 + P&P, or cash on collection - I'm in Oldham. Thanks Ian
2. Hi This is a Zoom 607 multi-effects pedal. Boxed with instructions. Bought from new.....no scratches. Never left the house. Its a great starter pedal....its a few years old, so its not the newest model available, but would suit someone who wants to mess about with sounds in their own room. I bought it on a whim, used it for a few days and then decided it wasn't for me. I've only ever used the presets.....there's too many buttons and flashing l.e.d.'s for my liking. A bargain for £10. Thanks
3. 3.5 inch wide padded leather guitar strap. Light brown/Walnut colour. In excellent condition, with only light use. Suitable for all types of guitar. Fully adjustable length. £25 I would prefer cash on collection....I'm in Oldham. I could post, but I don't know how much it will be...I guess somewhere up to £5. These retail for £40....so grab a bargain!
4. This is a Shure SM58 Microphone. There are a few light surface scratches to the mic, from general use, which does not effect performance. It comes complete with leather case and two clips, with different sized threads. £50 for the mic.
5. Thanks for all the interest....this guitar is now sold, pending the usual!
6.
How much does this bass weigh?
using the bathroom scales....bass 4kg and bass+case 8kg
7. Thanks....it is all stock, nice chunky bridge, retro tuners and classic jazz tone pick ups
8. Hi For sale is my Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass. Its white with a tort scratchplate. It comes with a very groovy brown case with yellow fur lining - very in keeping with the 'classic vibe' vibe! There's a storage compartment in the case for storing leads/straps and stuff. I've had this guitar from new for approx 18 months. It has a very nice neck - glossy with a nice 'aged' tint. The action hasn't moved since I bought it, with no buzzes or dead spots. I'm pretty anal about keeping my new gear clean, so there's no scratches or dinks. Its currently strung with rotosound swing 66's. I've happily gigged this bass, but to be honest I'm just a one guitar man - specifically precisions. I'm selling to raise funds for my new obsession - mountain biking. I'm looking for £200 with the case, cash on collection. The cheapest I can find these new online is £323.82 from thomann - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_cla..._jbass60_ow.htm I'm in Oldham, Greater Manchester. I would be able to pack it for delivery, but you'd have to sort out the courier for yourself. (I'm off work for the next two weeks, so I'll be in for them to pick it up) My phone number is - 07964866512. Thanks Ian
9. I always seem to end up playing the same turn-around.....its bit like the one in 'walking by myself' by Gary Moore.... Has any body got anything more interesting.....perhaps some tab or a video? Cheers
10. What's the most gigs you've fitted into a weekend? I think my record was five, last year, over one of the bank holidays - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights with daytime gigs on the Sunday and Monday. I remember having sore fingers by the end. This Easter weekend got a much more manageable three.... Fri, Sat and Sun evenings, although Fridays gig doesn't start until 12am, Saturday morning....At Marigolds in Darwen, Lancs. Kingpin the band...Live video!
11. A couple of video's from my band - Kingpin - gig in Atherton the other week. Tried to pick a couple of tunes which feature bass. They were recorded right in front of me so maybe that's why you can hear the bass. First up, Love Shack By the B-52's. There's a little disco bass solo I like to slip in at about 3.00, then there's a decent bit to get some dynamics in with the 'bang bang' bits.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYzc9JtSy_E Secondly, 7 Nation Army by The White Stripes. OK, strictly speaking its not an actual bass on the record, but its fun to play! I love numbers when I'm starting it off on bass...Town Called Malice, Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl, She Bangs the Drum. 13.
I prefer the Hatful version, but I think I'm in a minority... Did you tune up to F#? Helps a lot.
Yeah, I like the Hatful version too....and the 12inch New York remix is quite good...! I detuned the guitar to learn it..... Think I'll have a go at 'Barbarism Begins at Home'.....quite a funky bassline! Any other top Smith's basslines which people could recommend?
14.
Which version did you play?
The 'single' version....... The version on hatful of hollow is more 'swinging' I think the hardest part was the chorus - the pause and then the slide up.....took me a couple of days to get it right, probably drove the neighbours round the bend....
15. I have pimped a squier in the past......its good fun sourcing parts and fitting them.....you get to learn a lot. But I am happiest now I've got a USA P which I wouldn't change........
16. I did the dep gig, as mentioned previously, on NYE. I thought it went great......only seriously cocked up one tune - Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy. They do it in a different key and it threw me a bit for the first verse, but i managed to get back on track from the chorus onwards. There's that really awful feeling in your stomach when you think they're gonna stop the song, and its your fault...but thankfully they carried on. Don't think anyone noticed anyways - they were all pissed up. Its great meeting a new set of muso's....sometimes you get a bit stuck in a rut with your own band....its interesting to see how different bands play the same song - slower/faster, etc.... You can feel that 'dunkirk spirit' feeling with the drummer! They even gave me my own introduction....think that got the biggest cheer of the night...! I'd love to do more deps.....I enjoy the buzz I get from my nerves kicking in. That seems to wane a bit with the regular band. The only times i get nervous are when I'm doing local gigs full of people I know. I don't mind being depped myself.....as long as I'm asked first if its ok and if I know anyone that would cover. In a previous band they went ahead and advertised for a dep without consulting me first, when I had my works xmas do. I honestly wouldn't have stopped them gigging, but its a 'having your nose put out of joint' moment when you find out about it from someone not in the band. That seriously strained the relationship! ...and then being asked to donate your gear for the gig......no thanks!
17.
Go to this page, the guy has tons of Smiths somgbook stuff, even a vid of him doing the bassline. scroll about halfway for the songbook, go past all the johhny marr stuff and its below that. Smiths songbook stuff here
Wow, that is a great web site....loads of stuff to explore! thanks for sharing! Cheers
18. forgot to say thanks for the help.........thanks for the help guys, it went swimmingly!
19. I've got a dep gig tonight.....*gulp* The Band is called NoReaZon, and its at the the yew tree pub, northern moor, manchester. This is classic rock outfit........i suppose i'm more indie rock. Not had a practice with them..more exciting this way. I've had over a week to learn the tunes....so i'm pretty much up to speed. Just had the band on asking if i could learn another tune for tonight - Bad Case of lovin you by robert palmer. pretty straight forward three chord trick. This is the full set - Battleship Chains Should i stay or should i go jailbreak sunshine of your love fat bottomed girls born to be wild i love rock and roll roadhouse blues angel of harlem sweet home alabama[continues into] werewolves of london once bitten twice shy milk and alcohol sharp dressed man set two [includes encores and auld lang syne at 12!] wishing well fox on the run everything about you bad moon rising jet-suffragette city-20th century boy [full songs but straight in-will give nods!!] ziggy stardust folsom prison blues dakota smoke on the water rockin in the free world bartender and the thief pretty vacant another brick in the wall i predict a riot auld lang syne spares doctor doctor watchtower
20. The Haynes manual is very good..... I've already dabbled with the intonation...gonna have to get some car feeler guides and check the neck next....... It could get messy....
21. If you're in North Manchester, Matt Ryan is very good (only used him for guitar mind, not bass): http://www.guitarrepairer.com/
I've used Matt...he putt a badass on a squier vm jazz i had.....very recommended!
22. I've got a dep gig on boxing day and one of the tunes is This Charming Man by The Smiths....... I've got the intro and the verses done, but the chorus is giving me proper grief... Its a walking type line with a funny slide in it. I've tried youtube, but they're all too fast and not clear enough to see what's going on. Does anyone know it and fancies doing a video of them playing it, but slowed down? Thanks in advance! Cheers Ian
23. The best thing about buying guitars in the same colour, is that the mrs can't tell the difference between them when you buy another one.....
