I have had a few octavers including a couple of OC-2's I now use an MXR that I really like as you have control over the growl but to be honest it's not worth the extra cash - stick with the excellent OC-2.

Just been playing with my VT-1 and it gives a great gritty valve tone but judging by that YouTube video the SFT does that old school Ampeg thud better.

Poor tracking on Octavers drives me mad, I now have a MXR one that's better then my OC-2 but not much

Wise words Si, but sometimes that rule doesn't hold up for me, for instance I have an expensive EBS MultiComp which is excellent but I prefer to use a CS-2 most of the time - Odd I know

Thanks everyone for their help on this, unless someone comes up with another option I think I'll start out by trying the Zoom, I prefer small pedals to multi effects but this is the cheapest route so it's got to worth a go. if it doesn't dp the job I'll try some of the other suggestions.

As I understand it (wrongly probably) the detuned note I'm using is only a fraction of a semi tone out of tune creating a thickening effect, don't quote me on that though!

Weirdly that's what I'm doing with the plug-in, the dropped signal is only on at 40% causing a kinda subtle chorus effect but without any added modulation. maybe it's just covering up my poor fretless technique

That's a pretty impressive polyphonic pedal, any idea how much it cost? there was no mention of a blend control between the dropped and original tone which seems like an omission.

I had a quick look at the Zoom website and it does seem that their multi effect pedals have the detune function so this could be a cheap option to get the sound I want. I'm not a fan of red or multi effects units but hey if it get the job done cheaply I can't complain

I had a look at some YouTube videos of the PS-5, they were all demos on guitar sadly but it may do what I need, does it has a control for delaying (Latency on the plug-in) when the shifted note starts? Also is the pitch knob infinitely variable or click in preset increments?

Good point dannybouy it isn't a modulated sound just an added voice pitch shifted, the POG2 would be an expensive way to reproduce a free plug-in, I wounder if there is something a bit cheaper that does the same job, I have Octavers and they don't do it as it's a perfect octave, I need something that makes me sound even more out of tune on a fretless

In Cubase I have been using the free plug-in by MDA called Detune on the fretless bass parts and really like the sound a lot so I was wondering what sort of pedal I would need to recreate this sound in a live situation, to me it doesn't sound like any Boss phasers, chorus or flangers I owned in the 80's.


Any help would be appreciated.

I was clearing out a cupboard today and found an Audiophile 2496 that I was convinced I had Ebayed last year! I thought I would offer it up on here first.

It's a few years old but is fully working, boxed with manual and the CD's that came with it but you would be advised to get the latest drivers from the M-Audio website.

Hi, So you didn't get on with the CS-1 then? do you want to sell it or is it just trades you want?

I only have an OC-2, CE-2, CS-2 or SO400 I could offer up in a trade and I doubt any are of interest to you.

Only the Behringer left, last BUMP and price drop before it goes EBay at the weekend.
