1. Hey, thanks KuzBass. It really is a stunner. Hope you find a job soon, good luck.
2. I'm keeping my baby - YAY!
3. I'm really sorry. I didn't see that. My bad but thanks for replying.
4. What year is this bass, please? Does it have the usual headstock damage? Any other marks or dinks? Thanks
5. For some strange reason, I have a yearning for YOB Precision. I have my dream set of basses so now, a YOB bass has become my new GAS. Luckily I haven't seen any but the search is good fun
6. I use it in the studio but I don't live. Even though my RH750 has it built in, I don't use it. I try and make sure that any control over signal boost / attack comes from my fingers. I used it once and maybe because I wasn't sure what I was looking for, it just didn't feel right live. In the studio, I think it is essential. Just my opinion, of course.
7. Kindness is such a rare commodity these days, unfortunately. I do love hearing about things like this. It offers some hope that this place we live in, isn't solely frequented by self serving individuals. A lovely post and story
8. Very sad news. I was lucky to see him live. What a character. Will be sadly missed. RIP Philthy Phil Taylor
9. Lots of Led Zeppelin, especially III plus Big Wreck, Dream Theater and, Cats In Space
10. Ahhhh man! I was after one of these for so long after having owned many of the 6 string versions. If I hadn't just bought something different, I'd be on my way to pick this up. What an amazing bass and at amazing price. GLWTS.
11. I quite enjoyed that to be honest. I bet he wouldn't do that if he was actually playing the song in a live situation (I hope not anyway). A great little promo and, he can clearly play. A pity about the drum sound though. Oh well, you can't win them all PS Those bendy sticks are awesome
12. Great purchase. I still have my '86 MIJ Precision and I will never let it go! Enjoy. They are wonderful basses
13.
Holy Mother of God! Would you need to be earth wired to play it safely?
An exception to the rule, may be 😀
14.
Not up for 'reliced' finishes then, eh..?
Ha! I think they look ace but, not for me 😉
15.
Yes, I completely get this, but the point made above is valid. The best pictures I've taken have been outside in natural light. Some basses are hard to do justice to indoors when you're in a hurry. I've therefore used rubber trivets so no contact has been made when laying the bass down. Probably a bit wrong to judge everyone as an instrument abuser if you can't tell for sure how it's been done :-)
Why would you be in a hurry take a picture indoors? If you can take the time to use rubber trivets and carefully place them so as not to be seen, then why not take the time to get the lighting right indoors. By the way, I'm not saying there is a right or wrong, I am just countering your point 😉 Also, I'm not judging anyone, I don't do that. I was just asking if I was the only one who felt like I do about seeing basses in that situation 😉
16.
Then again, many sellers have some sort of CDO (sic) as well, me included, and we use hours and hours painstakingly putting soft velvet between those basses and the gravel and concrete - - even cutting mum's finest pillows in two when needed, just to avoid that any velvet be visible in the picture, and... What? Yes, mum. Sorry, mum.
Fair point, well presented 😉
17. This is totally to do with my OCD by the way but, am I the only one that winces when you see a bass / guitar someone is selling and, they feel the best way to capture it's natural beauty is to photograph it it standing, lying, leaning on concrete, resting on pebbles or balanced across garden chairs. It just puts me off wanting to buy it. I hate dinging my basses, it drives me nuts and even though it's inevitable when you play a lot (I know basses are meant to be played not just admired - I do both by the way) but, seeing a bass for sale in the situation described, makes me wonder how well it was looked after. I just want to see an instrument I was interested in buying, on a stand against a plain background along with a clear description knowing it wasn't unnecessarily damaged, for the sake of a "pose". Sorry in advance but, I just had to ask as I've been potentially interested in a purchase and then seen the said described situation and backtracked to the previous page.
18.
I can sing notes accurately, trouble is I have a pitch range of about 10 semitones.
Love this. Laughed out really loudly and not in a mean way, I promise. Thank you PS Tried singing in my old band once. It was recorded for a live release and upon hearing my BVs, I was horrified / mortified. Pitching would have been useful so, suffice to say, Melodyne became my very best, overworked friend I'll stick to writing the songs and playing bass.......
19. All my knobs fell off too and TC were just brilliant. Replaced them within 48 hours. A top company just a shame they are now owned by Behringer.......
20. Wow! That is stunning. What an amazing transformation / job 😎
21. Thanks for the introduction to Mathias Eick. The music is stunning and yes, great tone on that lovely P-bass, too.
22. Very clever but, left me feeling cold too. Give me songs and melody with some clever, technical flourishes thrown in, when appropriate, any day. Just my opinion of course
23. Has it stopped yet? If not, please make it stop....... #selfindulgent #why PS Loved that chrome Yamaha BB.
24. May I bring in to this discussion, Vigier? My Excess 5 is unbelievable in every way. The 90/10 approach really, really works. I've had the bass for over a year now and I can't ever imagine being without it. I used to really worry about temperature changes and how it affected the necks on my past basses. I once saw my Lull neck move in a particularly cold gig and decided that I needed something far more stable as I hated having to adjust the necks myself. The Vigier has that "classic" wood feel (the smoothest neck I have ever played) plus, it has that graphite rigidity. The best of both worlds, in my opinion, of course. For the record, if Vigier didn't exist, I would be a complete graphite neck user too - Status, Zon or Modulus
25. I had 2 Dingwall basses, an AB16 and ABZ6. They were stunning. Even though the wonky fret thing was easy to get used to, up the dusty end when playing any sort of chordal stuff became really quite difficult for me. That says more about my playing probably! I did gig with them too but they just weren't cutting it for me live. They were too polite. I really did miss the "normal" frets though and in the end, they had to go. Great basses, wonderful construction, amazing feel. If anyone is thinking of getting one, do it! You'll probably have more luck than me but glad I tried them out. A great experience.
