  1. Time marches on. Our two turned 18 this year, and have both passed their driving tests, so we see even less of them! One is off to Uni in September, the other is back to college on a music course and being in as many bands as he can (drummer).

     

    More importantly, they've turned into decent people.

     

    You must be immensely proud of all your kids @AndyTravis.

  2. For £300, you should be able to pick up something like a Squier bass and a reasonable amp second hand, though with the amp, it's probably better to stick with a "name" brand, as the quality should be decent.

     

    Even most shops should have a good selection of "starter" basses & amps.

  3. There is something weird going on when you have both volumes on full, I've always found it better to back the neck pickup volume back to about 75%. 

     

    Definitely both tone knobs wide open though.

     

    Then amp / pre-amp EQ to suit (plenty of mid though). I see @Jasper has his mid set around 75% (ish), treble a similar amount & bass around 60%. Sounding quite nice. 👍
