That vintage switch is pretty useful when you're using both pickups.

I've tried that, but it just doesn't sound quite as good as with the circuit disengaged.

It's always better when you roll off a bit of volume on the bridge pickup. IMO of course.

  2. Was it just the sound, or was it something else that made it a PoC?

I've tried the "Vintage" circuit on my 4003 a few times, and it really does the the "guts" out of the sound. Pop it back to the standard circuit, and there's loads of "body" in there.

  3. Have you tried it without the Bello pedal?

If you can't live without the pedal, maybe something like a noise suppressor pedal might work?

There's always either the RWRP wiring on the bridge pickup (TalkBass thread) or get something like the Nordenbocker.

  4. I was considering getting a HX Stomp a while ago, but always felt that it was a bit too much for what I would really use, but also that it only has 3 footswitches, which would make it a bit limited for live use.

I bought a POD Go instead, most of the functionality, most of the amp/cab/effect models, plenty of footswitches. Yes, it is "compromised" in comparison with Helix/HX, but it is an ideal bass player's tool IMO.

    Definitely worth considering.

    No.

    Maybe?

I would say that it really depends on what you want to do with it.

Will you be wanting to use the amp/pre-amp section or just the effects?

If it's just the effects you're after, then look at the HX FX.

In the past a band I played in got around the problem of having a guitarist who thought he could be multiple bands by booking gigs for every Friday and Saturday as far into the future as possible. When his other bands realised that he wouldn't be available to play for them for the next 3-4 months they quickly dispensed with his services.

Spoke to the guitarist today, he is not a happy bunny...

  7. The gig itself was OK, loads of mmistakes, but seemed to go down well, however, we found out that the singer is in another band, which takes his count up to three bands and a solo, singer/songwriter/cover act around the local pub circuit. Our guitarist is less than happy, and we ended up having a band discussion prior to the gig, but he's a singer, therefore he's an egotistical, self-centred narcissist.
