It sounds like they are heading back to this despite Rob being endorsed by Warwick, it isnt a "typical" Warwick sound, so maybe he is on something else. Whatever it is I like it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's not a Warwick we're hearing. It could be the Fernandes. Or his Zon signature.

the clips released so far sound good, but they still have time to f*** up the production of the album. death magenetic underneath was a good album, but the production on it ruined it, lets hope they don't do the same here. i'm looking forward to it

It's already sounding better than DM on a sonic level, but the guitars are very weak - a combination of lack of drive and being too far back in the mix. Particularly Hardwired - the drums are far too upfront.

But I am looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

Here's a cover I used it for

That video was my introduction to these basses! I stumbled on it by accident ( big 'ryche fan). Awesome tone! Bravo on some excellent covers. The Spock's Beard one is great!

Certainly have. I've had a couple of Ibby SRs previously & had GAS for another, so picked up a very cheap beater SR500, which looked like this:

The old finish came off very easily. It's soft mahogany underneath & it was a good opportunity to practice steaming out the numerous dents & gouges in the wood - which went surprisingly well. This was my first go at an oil refin and I'm made up with the result:

This was done with Colron natural Danish Oil, applied with a microfibre cloth. Lost count of the coats, but 20+, with a final sand back with very fine paper before the final coat.

The finished bass looks so much better than with the original brown slop, and it's far more hard-wearing.

Ha! Brown slop.

Maybe so, but that isn't an official release.
AJFA has already been remastered once and I'm guessing they changed nothing as far as the bass mix is concerned, or we wouldn't be having this conversation.

What isn't official, the game?
I didn't know Justice had been remastered - when was this?

Where did they get the bass track from?
It's from Guitar Hero/Rock Band, one of those types of games. There's a Metallica version and apparently it's quite easy to access all the solo tracks if you know your way around.

7. I'm guessing that's a Slab 66? Obviously without the slab body :D
I'm intrigued to hear it as well as my theory is the maple-capped neck plays a big part in the tone. Interesting to hear the difference a rosewood 'board would make.
I nearly put in an order for a slab myself but it was right at the time Gareth decided to revert to standard one-piece necks.
I'm also yet to hear a really decent demo.

8. I've got it's younger, more humble sibling. The one with the single output and normal fretboard.
It's the most aggressive P bass I've ever played. And wonderfully, dialling in the woofer just adds major lows without changing the inherent Precision growl. No frequency cancellation like a Jazz. How it does this I don't know but it's a wonderful bass. And it looks cool as hell.

A major point (to me) is that it is the single pup, with chrome cover, similar to what The Ox and others have used. SEE LINK in post # 21
There are plenty of two pick p TBirds around, even a few non reverse with 2 pups, but, outside of original, or custom luthier build, I have not seen an affordable single pick up job.
Very niche, but I know a few folk like this DIFFERENT kind of bass.

I've never seen JE playing a single pickup Tbird. I don't doubt that he probably owned several though!
I agree though, an affordable single pickup bird is sorely needed.

Well to be fair, I am starting to feel a bit mugged off. If I'd known it would have turned out this way, I probably wouldnt have made the order in the first place.
Due May 1st, as well as this year's gigs we had 8 festivals this summer, short run into Europe, album and E.P. sessions and a 2 week tour this November.... I was hoping to have had it for all this. Tough tittays I guess.
Im going to leave it until November properly until I start the 'come on fellas, this is getting silly' routine.
Exactly right with the friendly attitude at first too, Joe Zon rang me when I made the order (well, he said he was Joe Zon !!) which was pretty cool.
One thing that does make me think, is considering it dosent have a fancy exotic set of woods in the build, you'd think it'd be a quicker to do right ??
Annoying. Lord knows what I'd be like waiting for a custom build!
If it is any comfort, I've never heard any negative reviews of Zon's work or customer service before so hopefully it's just a glitch...
