It’s all good and it doesn’t matter. We’re all on the same side!

Never! We MUST fight! 12 rounds of over-arm bare knuckle boxing... Winner gets the losers kidneys.

It’s hard to read this block of text, but from what I can surmise, your position is absolutely fine and understandable.

De-blocked for you! (Was a quick type so riddled with punctuation issues! Probably still is...)

It's because flipping breaks the social bond we have here as members and transgresses a moral code.

As members here, we have a relationship to one another. While we may not physically be close, we consider forum members to be friends and as such we enter transactions with this perspective. Businesses buy cheap and sell high. Friends will (by and large) offer you a fair price and not seek to profit from your relationship.

People who buy and sell for a profit are acting against this moral code. It's even more egregious when it happens on a forum (someone buys cheap on BC and advertisers for a higher price).

As an example of how this relationship can impact you, I bought a bass here for £1300. I held it for a year and then called a London shop for a trade in price. The cash offer I received was £2300. The seller here (trusted member, good guy) had sold to me cheaply. (this was during COVID when prices for all US imports and bespoke basses went through the roof).

I could have just pocketed the money. Instead we had a chat and agreed to split the difference. In the end, we both got £500 more than we had expected and all felt good about the world.

I've have no problem with selling low if I want rid of something or need quick cash knowing that someone with more time could sell it on for more, nor do I have any morale issue with buying something from someone at an agreed price and selling it on for whatever I choose to sell it on for at a later date.

I assume you have a job, and that job pays you for a service you do, and that company aims to make some level of profit from whatever they do? Same game really, unfortunately the world wouldnt turn without the concept of profit and loss.

Some may see you keeping half of that extra £1000 as profiteering by £500 when, by your morale code, the original seller should have been given the full amount, and some would deem it a kind gesture in a world without enough kindness. Horse for courses and all that.

my position is that as long as no one is getting scammed, if I agree to buy or sell something for a particular price, what happens to that item after that mutual agreement is no one else's business but the person who owns that item legally at that moment.

In a personal context, I sold a bass to someone on here years ago for £1100, which was already £300 more than I'd paid for it from eBay the year before, they then sold it for £3000 via an ad published on here shortly after. I sold it for a price that was acceptable to me, they sold it on for more as they were willing to wait for a buyer. Good for them!

    It would seem to be!

I think you're looking FAR too much into the reason of this post... Not everything requires over-analysis, unless of course you want to obtain a PhD in analytics that is.

If you're not interested in the thread, or don't see its point, then there probably isn't a point to voicing your 'I don't see the point' point.

There's a thread entirely dedicated to the discussion of tea that might be more your cup of tea, and probably a few apostrophes in the wrong place somewhere on the site (or indeed within this thread) that need you to point them out. Time might be better served in those pursuits! 😁

Milo Aukerman of The Descendants - PhD in Molecular Genetics.

Dexter Holland of The Offspring - PhD in Molecular Biology.

Also aware that Brian May and Sterling Morrison also hold PhDs.

Bad Religion, The Descendants and The Offspring were (and really still are) 3 of my absolute favourite bands when I was discovering music at around 13 or so. My parents never judged me in the slightest for my music choices, but there has always been a bit of a stigma around punk and punk rock. I suppose in the 80s LA days it's was justified to a degree! (No pun intended).

But I do enjoy the fact that 3 of the most educated musicians out there all reside with the Punk/Punk Rock genre.

I don't have a degree, certainly not a doctorate, a huge amount of respect to those that do! Anyone here, or any other musicians that have managed to not only be a musician, but somehow also earn themselves a PhD?

It's about time that I 'fessed up to this, by admitting that it was I that gave the erroneous advice about posting in an inconspicuous way a request for valuation (in the manner of 'What do Squiers fetch, these days..?' or similar...). I was wrong, mea culpa, and all the more stupid as I had been a Mod, for quite a long time, and should have thought better of it. It was I, too, that 'reported' the original post, as it was in flagrant breach of the 'valuation' rule. I explained the rule, and its reasoning, in my reply to the OP, but the advice I gave, although in good faith, was wrong, and has led to all this rumpus. Apologies to all; I could plead old age and senility, but I should have thought it through a lot longer. Sorry. :$

To be fair to me I didn't know the 'advice' given to edit my 2nd post wasn't from a moderator how could I possibly know that?

I believe mods have a little orange shield type badge on the top right of their avatar that you can see on each person's post. Appreciate that's not super obvious, but may help going forward!

  8. Hi All

Selling my rather lovely Epiphone Hummingbird Pro. These are lovely little acoustics with an E-Performer built in pre-amp and pickup.

It's in top notch condition with one faint scratch on the back that I've tried to photograph, but it's quite tricky to capture it!

Other than that, it's in superb condition, I've re-strung it today so its ready to be played!

Collection from Wickford, Essex is much preferred, but I can probably arrange postage of you're willing to pay a little more for a sturdy case to ship it in - happy to discuss that.

    Any questions, please ask!

  9. Pretty sure this one used to be mine a few years back. Great bass. 👍

Yup, definitely use to be mine! Just checked some old photos and the grain lines up! Good luck on the sale!

I was watching that on ebay, out of interest. Couldn't believe how cheap it sold for! Congrats! ;)

Yup, couldn't resist it for £250 especially as I have the UL901 head, plus the chap kindly agreed to meet halfway. 👌🏼

  11. Just picked up this cab today, a rather tasty Epifani UL610 1500w beast. Currently paired with my Epifani UL901 head to make quite a monster of a rig.

Not disastrously heavy for a 610, about the standard weight of a 410, so a tolerable one-person move.

Set it up in the studio today for our first band practice in 6 weeks, it didn't disappoint! Snagged it for a mere £250 from eBay. 👍

  12. Hi all,

I've just picked up an Epifini UL610 cab to go with my Epifini UL901 head, so this beast of a cab is now surplus to my current requirements. (Obviously the Epifini UL901 in the pictures is NOT included!)

It's rated at 800w through 4 ohm, so with most heads you'll get maximum bang for buck.

It's in fantastic condition, a few really minor marks but a solid 9/10 I'd say. It's not SUPER light but it is manageable. It has really hard wearing casters on the bottom that lock, so it's easy to roll about.

It sounds absolutely fantastic with the Epifini UL901, I've also run a Mesa Boogie Big Block, a Marshall VBA400 and a Bugera Veyron through it and they all sound exemplary.

£400 is the bargain price I paid for it, so looking to recover my costs. These were well north of a grand new and worth every penny too.

If you're after a 410 that sounds superb through multiple amps, then this is it. Any questions, please ask. Collection only from Wickford, Essex.

I've also listed this on Reverb at 10% higher than Basschat. 👍

    Thanks!
