where abouts are you based?
Hi sorry to be tardy (again) with replies, I'm giging much lately(thank the lord) . I've still got the amp(missed some viewers over the w/end due to work) so if you are interested to try/view, I'm based in Aylesbury, Bucks. Mike

Well I've had a lot of interest in this amp ( from this forum and generally) so I took it out on a gig on the w/end just to remind myself of the sound! Again ..awesome. Had a couple of viewers who loved the sound but the price seemed a bit high. So....reluctantly I am dropping the price (Knowing the cost of my repairs and the stress/pain of getting it done right) I'll accept no less than £500. Check previous post for info or get in touch. Some one will be happy soon!!

Hi All, I have sold my MM5, kept the CMI 4, Carvin (sold),KSD fretless 5 (sale pending). That means that I've still got the KSD705 fretted 5 string up for sale. However...I have sold some of the modification parts to reduce sale price (Badass, Hipshots..). So new discription. KSD-705 Fretted 5 string, 35" scale length, natural ash body, chrome hardware, bone nut, bound maple neck/fingerboard wt block inlays, John East custom pre-amp (vol/blend, tre/bass,tre/bass, master tone). This bass sounds great for almost any style of music (slap sound is wicked for a 5 string). Asking £595 And KSD-FLBK5 Fretless 5 string, black Alder body, lined Ebonol fingerboard, with passive controls (sounds better) Asking £495 Check out this deal! I will offer both in a 'Tribal Planet' top of the range gig bag (which holds both) for £1000. Must be bought together!! This is great for going between fretless/fretted as the scale length/neck dimentions are the same!! Contact me for info, photos, details etc

Basses for sale (SOLD:Fender MM5, New items..)
The block inlay one is more the sort of neck you'd find on an old CMI. Surprised no-one else noticed it also has a J-Retro or similar in its dot-neck configuration. Any chance of seeing some headstock pics (front & back) & neckplate pics? It's often possible to identify the manufacturer of old JapCrap copies from these details. Also, is the body solid timber or veneered ply? A lot of these basses used the 3-colour sunburst with solid black edges, to disguise the construction material. J.
Right... check this out. I think the body is solid can't say for sure. Great sounding bass, will be sorry to see it go and I think it just did!! -
Can you give a comparison of the MM5 and KSD fretted as regards sound?
Well, the MM5 is very zingy with a natural mid scoop a la Marcus. Very much voiced for slap style playing or tight finger style. The pre-amp does not offer a Mid control but the bass & treble controls are nicely voiced.. The 'B' string is tight and usefull for slap as well (which is rare) in a 34" scale length. The neck size is very comfortable and fast. The KSD in its original state is similar, but I think has a tighter 'B' string maybe due to the 35" scale length. The original pre-amp is not as good as the MM5 however. With the J-Retro pre-amp, its more versatile and with the other mods it became in my opinion a better overall bass. So........I think.....the MM5 is easier to play and sounds great but the KSD sounds great too and is more versatile. Does that help?

Basses for sale (SOLD:Fender MM5, New items..)
How come the fret inlays are blocks on those pictures? But they weren't before?
Good spot! This bass sounded so good that I had the frets dressed(stoned?) on the original neck, but while that was being done I experimented wtih a different neck(Mighty Mite) and for good measure MEC p/ups on the original body. So that pic was taken while this was happening! Now its back to its original specs(at least how I got it). Phew you guys don't miss a thing!! I did (as you can tell with that photo mishap). -
Hi, After much debate I've decided to sell my other basses.....long story! 1) KSD 705 [/b]- Mods include: J-Retro pre-amp special(Vol/blend, tre/bass,tre/bass,tone),Hipshot tuners,Badass bridge,Bone nut,Schaller strap locks,Nordstrands NJ5SF jazz pickups. I had the logo on the head stock removed (which proved to be quite interesting as people would compliment on the sound/look and then ask about the maker!!). Rivals any high end jazz bass. Trust me I've tried a few. This bass is just over a year old and has been kept in excellent condition.! asking £895 2) [b]KSD FLBK5 - Modified with J-Retro deluxe pre-amp. This one is even more recent but has a couple of minor scratches in the finish at the back. Again with John East's electronics, this is a killer fretless! asking £695 Reminder: 3) Fender MM5 jazz bass- I hardly use/used this bass(but managed to misplace the p/up cover) so its in mint! price reduced to £895 4)Carvin BB75P - Mods include: J-Retro Deluxe(John modified to work with Carvin bridge piezos),Bone nut,Schaller strap locks,Seymour Duncan ASBII MM pickups(with various switching options) and more.....price reduced £ 995
