Nice detail where fingerboard grain continues thru truss rod cover. Very nice build.

Hey, does anyone have a 5 string Thumb through neck? I need some body dimensions. I tried finding a good image and using scale length as a reference for scaling, but it doesn’t always work because of image distortion.
please message me if you can help!
thank you -
@PLBi messaged you too!

Looks lovely! It's it staying natural?? Hope so as that's going to pop like nobody's business when oiled!
It’s going to be turquoise/blue burst high gloss. It’ll really pop!

They were quite reasonably priced once. You just have to be old. Anyway, looks like you can make your own!
I too remember when they were affordable and you didn’t have to wait 4 years for one! Don’t ever sell them!

I wish I was able to say ‘one of my Wals’ 😆

You can get router cutters that are 0.5mm diameter, and I used to cut covers using these before I got the laser. It’s slow going with such a small cutter, and requires numerous passes!

One thing I never understood about these wood cavity covers is how do they match so perfectly when
one considers the routing around the perimeter which must remove a minimum of 1/8" around the perimeter
on all sides?
I cut the cavity cover using a laser. I did this before glueing the wood to the body.

It’s going to have some serious punch with those pickup locations!

As Andy said, top class job and great attention to detail.
PS. Interested to see where the ash(?) backed body in one of your pics is going. Is it another build going on at the same time? (Sorry if I've missed where you've mentioned that one at some point.)
Hi, I attached the ash bass by mistake! But here’s a pic of the bass..

Ah I realized I deleted some attachments on this thread. Doh!
Don’t think I can re-attach images to those messages -

Please fix the broken links to your pics, it's driving me nuts not being able to see them!
I ran out of allowable upload data, so had to delete some attachments! Can you see any?

Don't forget to copper shield the pickups cavities and star ground them too otherwise the shielding is totally useless...
Yup, that’s the plan. I’m still waiting for the pickups and once I know the fit nicely I’ll do the copper. I run a ground from each pickup cavity, and bridge, and then ground everything to cavity shielding. It’s the only way to do it effectively.
