1. Bongos....

Very thin paint on rear of neck and headstock. I found the body a bit uncomfortable after a time. Probably coz it's too big.

The 4-band eq gives lots of variations to the already hugely coloured sound, and I could still never find the sound I wanted. It just didn't sound 'natural'.

Great body finish. Mine was orange. Kept it for two months - it was that good!

At the end of the day its all down to personal preference.

  2.
i really hope this thing is amazing:P
The words 'behringer' and 'amazing' don't go together, so I'd give up hoping! I was curious, so I had a look at the manual online. The watts are classed as 'peak output'. So it's really quite a small amp in a big box. Saying that, I would love to try one in a gig situation, and see how long it takes to ignite! I'm sure you could spend your £344 on something much more reliable.

  3. WoodandTronics now have a dedicated web-site WTbasses for there own guitars. They've got some funky ideas, like the front control cover cut from exotic timber, magnets holding the rear control cover on, etc. Also they offer interesting tried and tested pickup/circuit combination. Enrico is loaning me a 33" 5-string for me to review, so I'll be posting a detailed assessment in a few months time. Thats's gonna feel odd after my 36" Progress Bass!

    Cheers

  4. Thanks Dave. I'll let you know my thoughts when I get it. I see they no longer do the 310212. That was bit of a monster!

Mikey, I think I saw a thread or comment somewhere saying that the single mini-12 cabs weren't that good. But from what I've read above, the 1210 and 1212 are both outstanding.

  5. I'm in negotiation with Jorg at the moment for a 210212L cab. He's complicated things by giving me a tweeter option! Titanium or selenium. I'm hoping he can explain the differences without getting too technical. I was hoping to get the 412L to give more balls, but from what I've read here, this cab should perform fine with the lows.

So it looks like my Epifani UL410 will be up for sale.

  6. Thanks Dave.

Are you saying that Jorg is flexible on the prices he quotes on his web-site? I hope so, because shipping costs for the 210212L or 412L is $385!

I've only ever bought parts from W&T and on both occassion I have had no problems at all. It can take a while getting a response to emails at times though.Cheers

  7. I tried the R1000w head in Nevada Music a couple of years back. I wasn't that impressed. However I was playing it thru Carvin speakers, which I don't think are the most sensitive or best quality I've seen. This probably accounted for it not really sounding as loud as I was expecting. The sound reminded me of Peavey bass gear. Lots of knobs and sliders, but not many 'nice' usable sounds in my opinion. This 1200 models looks like the same configuration as the R1000. Its good value for money, so I guess if money is tight, then Carvin would be a solution. I think however, you'd be better off with say the current Warwick range. These are now assembled in China, and the Xtreme 10.1 (1000w head) is a monster for about £600. Have a listen though, but try through your own speakers, or at least, not thru Carvins!

  8. Does anyone own or have any experience of a 210212L or the new 412L?

Also, I can't get a response from SHX in Brighton, so I guess it means buying from either Woodandtronics, or Jorg himself. I know some of you have bought from W&T but, with the dollar as it is at the moment, is importing from US a cheaper option?

    Cheers

  9.
I've got a full set of gold warwick hardware for sale from a 5 string streamer stage one, but it'll fit most other warwick basses.

    2 piece brigde
    4 knobs
    5 tuning pegs
    gold jack
    gold shaller strap buttons

I'm not 100% sure what this is worth, but I think about £50.
Hi,
What's the string spacing on the broad setup? Also, can you describe the condition?
    Cheers

  10.
Can I ask was this the bass that was on e bay a while back
This was indeed the bass that was on Ebay. The original owner, Craig Stephenson, had it built to his spec. I've spoken with Overwater to clarify the age etc.

He was asking a bit too much and it didn't sell, and we did a deal outside of ebay.

  11.
I had a similar problem with a 5-string Corvette, so I hung a bag of nuts and washers on the body strap button to work out how much weight I would need, then I folded that weight of sheet lead into a bar and put it in a padded mobile phone case, which I threaded the strap through. It worked, but it made the bass noticeably heavier, and when I put it back on its stand, the weight kept getting in the way.

I also looked at fitting hipshot ultralites, but the weight saving at the end of the neck did not fully balance the bass, even when added back on at the body strap button - and it was going to cost £100 -£125

Eventually I went for the discreet extended horn option, and if any musician has noticed it, they have not commented.
I've seen people replace the top strap button with an extended type. The idea is that the further up the neck the strap is, the better the balance. I've also seen one that fits on the rear of the top horn and is an arm that rotates and stops in the correct position. The strap is attached to this and the usual button at the bridge end. Dunno where I saw that! Sorry!

  12.
Thanks for your inputs and lots to think about.

Best get back to Jon as he was getting some ASB2's in incase I went down that route.
My own custom 5-sting headless started off with an EMG CS at the bridge and a DC at the neck end. I upgraded the DC to a P5 a year back and it gave a much more usable front pickup with plenty of depth and power. I've heard the SD pickups have a natural 'scooped' or mid-cut sound to them. Its only what I've heard - never used them. I would recommend the CS/P5 EMG arrangement. For your info, I'm using a Bartolini NTMB 3-band circuit with these, and it sounds great.

Such a sweet bass that, if only I could afford it... :) Someones gonna get an awesome piece of kit!
Hi Matt,
Afraid so!! I end up using my 55-94 more and more, so I'd rather let this get some use by someone else.
It's totally unmarked and I'd always been kind of scared of damaging it at a gig. It's a work of art!
Is the OW forum still going? Can you remind me of the site address.
    Cheers
