1. Jono, She's quite obviously taking your good nature for granted. If she is serious about playing in the band, she will fork out for a rig. Don't be such an easy touch! I've had gear that has been damaged and "lost" while on loan. Apparently Mr. Nobody did the damage to the amp and the wireless equipment was packed into the van at the end of the gig and must have gone into a black hole! You sound like a decent person. She should understand if you say no. All the best and I hope you resolve things with the young lady!
2.
I want this bass now
Hi there, Try some out first. Maybe look at some alternatives. Try not to be tempted by looks or specs alone, as with anything it could look great but sound and play like a bag of spanners. Or it may appear cheap and nasty but turn out to be a peach. Choose a bass that is comfortable for your playing style and posture ( and shape!! ) that sounds the way you want and you will not be going wrong! Good luck with the GAS, Chris
3.
Well if you make a living out of selling cheap basses, that's not very surprising. You wouldn't win, would you?
TUT, TUT, TUT! The man you attacked has a massive amount of ability both in manufacture and design of his basses. The basses you have seen are probably prototypes and are being sold off near to the price of the build, let alone the time and effort he puts into them. Prosebass is a pefectionist who's looking for a balance between quality and price. I know, I own one of his basses and have met the guy. ( Have you? ) I find myself in a position to say that I COULD NOT replace the guitar I have because it IS UNIQUE. And it has a UNIQUE sound! PUT A VALUE ON THAT!
4.
Just a few funny basses and guitars.. Im sure some may like the 15 string but what a stretch love the penis bass (i dont mean i love the penis)
COCK ROCK!!!! LMFAO!!!!
5.
Alex Harvey was/is a God in my eyes!
Nice one sir! I didn't get to see the mighty Alex ( bit too young ) but have seen SAHB a few times. The remaining members are a really good bunch! Sad to see Zal hang up his guitar last year. Vambo Rools
6. Hi Alex and welcome, I take it you're a fan of S.A.H.B. If I aint correct please forgive me. You'll find loads of stuff ( useful and not so ) on here. All the best, Chris
7. Paul, This P bass is cool! How's about a Fifth bridge Precision? PM heading your way!
8.
Hello again I'm afraid I've got to update my gear listing already. I have a feeling you will be posting that again and again. You may be experiencing GAS soon! Welcome to the forum.
9. Yep...ugly buggly! If they did exclusively headless they would be bit better ( arguably ). Fine tuners on the bridge. Different..but why? Price tag quite hefty as well, although nice woods! General spec looks nice. So why blow it with the aesthetics? AND WHAT'S WITH THAT ONE IN THE PHOTO ( 1970's doo dah )? Looks like a Big wooden finger!
10.
Welcome to the forum. As your wife plays does that mean you have less problems when you suffer from GAS?
Hi Peter, WEEELLLLLLLLLL...................erm.............NO! My missus went halves on my last bass and now she's into it I think she's mellowed! BUT... it's still a delicate subject to approach. I think she is secretly hoping that my next aquisition will free up my 5string! Luckily I don't get GAS too often! but since I found this site I have had "urges". I assume you get a fair bit of stick when GAS strikes! ( Jewellery and handbags usually ease the pain.. ) Cheers and all the very best, Chris
11. Hello from the darkside, Beerdragon!
12. Paul, No problems at all. Both basses I played got a little comment each. Praise where praise is due mate! All the best Chris
13. Hamster, Don't you mean Capenhurst for the CBRN gear? Or is your MLA of pure basschat speak? Take care buddy! Chris
14. And a big hello from Wirral too you sir!
15.
Thanks for the kind words, here is another photo of it with the Jazz that I also fitted with Q-Tuner I was going to put something similar along with its brother (the fretless) into production, but plans changed, I may revisit it though sometime.
The Jazz in the piccy is a bass with a great "feel" to the neck and fantastic tone and resonance (and may I say a low and easy action). I didn't pick the fretless up in case I showed my lack of talent. I bought the one hiding on the back left ( on account of it's eye catching design and my own personal preferences ). Both guitars I played I liked.. That's not normal for me!
16.
Hey I recognise this little beauty....I was lucky enough to buy this one from Paul ( PROSEBASS ). It is a great bass that packs loads of punch. I can't praise it enough! NO..I REALLY CAN'T!
17. Jon, Many thanks and HELLO from sunny Moreton, Wirral.
18. Hello there, I had a long "rest" from playing bass and got back into it last year. My main influences are Andy Fraser, Les Holroyd, Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, Herbie Flowers, and Phil Lynnot. Main styles of playing are blues, rock and metal. I currently have 2 bass guitars. 1: a 5 string Shine SBT-705 ( not the best....but not a bad bass at all.) 2: a "one-off" from our very own Mr. Paul ( Prosebass ) Rose. Very good bass indeed. My wife also has taken to the art and has 2 basses 1: A 1/2 size Johnson ( no puns please! ), which was bought for the kids! 2: A late 1980's Washburn Force ABT B20. ( Nice solid bass ) I play for recreation now but have been in a couple of local bands ( many moons ago ). I'm here to pick up ideas and tips for my own set-up and playing. So I won't be bugging people unless I'm after info! OK...so that's me! Thanks for reading! Chris Price
