1. Id consider offering this plus cash in trade for a reasonably priced overwater, Ideally a J-series but other 4 strings considered
2. After a quiet practice I can confirm that my Tonehammer500 has a slight click when engaging the mute. None of the controls make any difference to the sound (including the Master) Click is only evident when engaging the mute, not when switching back to working again. Interestingly I haven't noticed this when Ive used it gigging- so it would suggest the click level is constant. Ive had gear with far noisier mute switches- EA and Ashdown spring to mind. Ill check it out when I'm next going through a PA to see if the click is audible through the DI- I havent noticed it at all at gigs but now I know its there so I will check. Still the finest sounding amp Ive owned
3. The 5 string set is sold, thanks Tim. Both 4 string sets still available.

5. Im a good half a dozen gigs in with my tonehammer 500 now and loving it. I havent noticed any noise from the mute switch and Im usually a picky bugger (although my better half recons Im going deaf). Ive tried it at relatively restrained volumes with PA support and at more telling volume including a couple of outdoor gigs without PA support, Great bit of kit, loving it.

7. Just bought one of these from Guitar Guitar last week. Only had a chance to try it out at decent volume at one gig. My first impressions are very favourable- sounds organic and even with lots of headroom.
8. Sunny day photo-
9. It is a refinish based on a finish that G+L used on a limited edition a few years ago .
10. Seems to be a few G+Ls listed at the mo
11. USA G+L 1995 L2000 for trade. Its had a pro refinish in blackburst. Maple board, usual G+L electronics (two humbuckers, series/parallel switching, pickup selector switch, passive/active/active+treble boost switch , volume, bass and treble knobs)and hardware. The nutwidth is 42mm according to my steel ruler. It comes with a SKB plastic case- It came with the bass when I bought it but it doesnt have the G&L logo on the side. Has the G&L certificate of authenticity. The bass has been used- I bought it 2nd hand last year from Craig on the forum It doesnt get a lot of use currently as I use my overwater perception I picked up last year from Bob for both my projects. Interested in trades- Ideally for a similar quality 4 string bass . Top of my list- Id love to try a Lakland Skyline 44/02 but would consider other basses. Also up for sale- £650 or best offer. More photos at G+L pics Cheers Dave
12. Bought a fretless from Chay recently, what an excellent smooth transaction. My award for best packaging of the year has to Chay- packaging was almost bombproof. Reccomended
13. I'm not really looking for a precision at the minute but thanks for the offer. As David pointed out the Overwater has an active circuit.
14. Thanks for the comments. I really wish I could get to grips with playing 5 string. This really is a fantastic bass- I just cant get to grips with the extra string.
15. Here’s a few more details- Overwater J- Series 5 string made in Carlisle, England. Classic vintage style, tulipwood body, traditional vintage styling, traditional body profile. White 3 ply b/w/b scratchplate/pickguard, traditional bell plate mounted controls featuring master volume, pickup balance, stacked treble and bass controls with push/pull treble boost (E-pro electronics.) Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard (no front position markers) 21 frets, 35 inch scale. Neck measures 46mm wide at nut, 75mm at 21st fret. Armstrong hum-cancelling jazz bass pickups. Hipshot chrome hardware- B style bridge with 19mm spacing, ultralite tuners. High gloss sunburst finish (matching headstock). Considering trades for a 4 string bass of equal quality.
16. Just to clarify a couple of measurements- The scale length is 35 inches. String spacing measured centre to centre is 19mm at the bridge and 9.5 mm at the nut. Nutwidth is 46 mm.
17. Picked this up recently from Graham (grayn) on the forum. Fantastic bass, however I just cant get to grips with playing 5 string (this isn't the first time I've tried). Looking to trade for a similar quality 4 string, Ideally a 4 string version of the Overwater. I know they are thin on the ground so I'd consider other 4 strings Comes in an Overwater moulded light flight style case. Thanks to Graham for the the photos from his listing.
