1. Yeah that tone is sweeeeet. It also reminds me that I haven't listened to Tool in years. Time to give some old albums a couple of spins...
 2. I've seen plenty of videos where Prince gets a bit cavalier with his Tele, mind. It wouldn't surprise me to hear he employs someone just to catch it.
 3.
By having an unobfuscated email address, you leave yourself somewhat open to spam. Have a look at this email obfuscator as one of the ways to change that. Going straight from the home page to the "About" page caused me a certain mental grinding of gears as the home page is in the first person, whereas the "About" page is in the third person. As the site is specifically dedicated to you, rather than that being a biog in the context of a band, I'd suggest at least considering having the "About" page in the first person.
I've now obfuscated my email address in all links. Cheers for that! It's interesting that you should point out the first person/third person inconsistency - a lot of musician's websites I researched seem to be mostly in the first person, apart from the biog. Perhaps their biographies are written with press releases in mind? Anyway, I was aware of my narrative change, but not entirely satisfied - all the content is now written in the first person.
However in your Bio please take out the phrase about your violin playing sounding like dying cats!!!!!!!
Aww but I quite like it! Well, if it proves unpopular with more people then I'll consider it - I've added a bit more about my musical education so it doesn't come across as so disparaging.
or have the home page in the 3rd person? Apparently "welcome" is the worst word to start with on a homepage. I was told that by an SEO "expert" at one of these seminars. I've no idea if it's truly valid. I think the plectrums at the bottom are very sexy. On the shorter pages, they really complete the layout. I'd be tempted to have them as a bottom "frame" (I know you're not allowed to use frames any more, but there's a way with CSS i'm sure) so that they stay there and you only scroll through the content in the middle.
I've changed the home page to remove all mention of 'welcomes' and the like. Thanks for the tip. I would quite like for the plectrums at the bottom to stay in a constant position, regardless of the main body, but I'd rather avoid frames. If anyone knows of any solution to this, please let me know. Thanks for all the feedback! All of it has been useful and insightful. Soon I'll be adding a small section about my gear, possibly underneath the biog. I'm working on photos next, then I'll see if I can fit in a discography somewhere.
 4.
Looks cool man - having worked with various websites over the last ten years my overriding opinion now is, simple is good. Layout on yours was very nice easy to read etc - if I'm completely honest I wasn't that keen on the second audio track, nothing wrong with your playing, I just thought the song sounded a bit dated - the Jackson stuff and the vids are all very cool though - maybe record something original and new and bang it up there - just my thoughts, but overall great effort and lovely playing. Mike
All valid points about the audio tracks, and yes, I do need to record some new stuff. I might well compose a couple ditties soon, as it's pretty sparse otherwise.
Here's a little 2 minute tip... If you're going to centre align a website - and some page require scrolling and some don't - you get that weird jump when you go from one page that scrolls to ones that don't. That's because of the scrollbar. Add this to your stylesheet and all pages have a scrollbar - then you don't get the movement... :root {overflow-y: scroll;}
Thanks for the tip - that was bugging me! Any other coding tips greatly appreciated too. Cheers for all the feedback so far! It's been a while since I designed a website (and I use the term loosely). I'll be sure to add more content regularly. H
 5. http://www.huwfoster.co.uk/ There's still a little bit to add or change here and there, but I thought it was long overdue. Thoughts? I can take constructive criticism, but please bear in mind my knowledge of HTML is very limited.
 6.
Nice to see you on here Huw. You down tonight?
Nice to see you too. Yup, I'll see you later!
 7. Daaaaayum. This looks like a bargain. If only I didn't need money for 'important' things like rent and living costs...
 8. I can vouch for it being a really good night. The house band are tight and there's usually some ace musicians sitting in for the jam. Good atmosphere too!
 9.
Just curious: is the pickup stock? I'm starting to feel the GAS
Yup, it's all stock parts as far as I know.
 10.
that's great, and I *love* the sound of your bass there. I never thought I could say that of a P-bass, but what do you know???
Thanks man! I love the sound of it too, and it plays really nice - those 50s Precisions are something else.
 11. I've been on a bit of a slap binge lately: I think I'm upstaged by my cat in this one...
 12. So do all the YT bass wizards come from Denmark then? Ha, I'll definitely check him out.
 13.
not available in my country due to sony music content..i hate youtube
Ah yeah, sorry! Pretty much all of my playalong videos are blocked in Germany due to copyright...
 14. For my next video, I promise to do something other than MJ. I couldn't help myself - when I heard this tune, I had to transcribe it. What a groove.
 15.
As an antidote to all the usual sl@pping & w@nkery you get on these events, perhaps I should send a video of myself pumping out 8th notes. Isn't that what most people who'd buy an ampeg would use it for?

I agree although us oldies might be trying to do 1/4 notes
SCREW YOU BOTH, I'M DOING SEMIBRIEVES.
 16. More like an excuse for a jam rather than a song, but UNGGHHNHNHHH WHAT A GROOVE.
 17. I love anything MJ/Louis Johnson related. I only discovered this Off The Wall outtake recently:
 18. One of my biggest inspirations, both as a bass player (even if I'll never be able to match his technique) and a musician/composer. If push came to shove, I'd say my favourite tune is this:
 19.
my first post here.. im a bassist from the philippines but i hope i am welcome here in this very informative forum.. sorry for the bad quality of the recording as i use only my cellphone and am also not very knowledgeble on getting clear ones.. just some random bass doodles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkMR3rXHXMg
I love Hiromi. That tune is beautiful. Very expressive playing too!
 20.
Pleece x-gooze my rage at 4:00 to 4:18^^
What do you mean? I want more rage!! MOAAAAR! Ace tone too.
 21.

I really enjoyed that! Can't go wrong with a bit of Fleetwood Mac. Great vibe, solid performance.
 22. You could avoid getting annoyed by just assuming they all mean short hand for (bass) guitar? Or am I being too optimistic?
