  1. Very very easy for most of you but I've just had a quick go at "It's On"by The Lillingtons. Also gonna look at "I wanna die" by Teenage Bottlerocket .
  2. Wife and i flew into NYC last night from uk to watch Blitzkid on Thursday. Heading back on Friday. Hoping it's a great gig.
  3. Heading over to NY to watch Blitzkid in a few weeks. Literally get there, watch gig, sleep in hotel, get back on plane and back to UK
  4. Went to see The Misfits in Chicago (special trip from uk just to see one band). They were never going to live up to what I wanted but they were still brilliant. The drums (Dave Lombardo) were amazing, just a non stop pounding that moved your guts. Jerry gave it everything on bass, as ever. Smashed 5 up through the gig. Doyle pounded and stamped around the stage beating his guitar into submission and getting through more strings than a get-through-strings machine. Glenn Danzig did way too much talking and waffling about "back in the day" but his voice was good. 40 years I've wanted to see the original band together on stage, no one ever thought I'd happen. Awesome.
  5. Agnostic front are one of the best bands I've ever seen. Stigma is a legend and I've had a few pints with him after gigs. Where are they playing?
  6. Heading (from uk) to Chicago tomorrow night to watch The Misfits on Saturday at Riotfest. Heading back home Sunday afternoon. Literally going there just to see the band.
  7. In (I think) 3 weeks I'm heading over from UK to Chicago for the Saturday of Riot Fest. 30 bands playing on the Saturday but the only ones ime really interested in are Madball, Bad Religion and, the reason I'm going over, The Misfits.
  8. Went to see SLF in a small venue in Stoke called The Sugarmill. Cracking venue that pulls in some really good bands. The support were supposed to be Wasted Life, a local band who are OK but something happened and they had to be replaced at the last min. The ones who stepped in were called Christian Music. 2 lads, 1 on drums and the other on guitar, tiny keyboard and shouting. I admire their guts to get up and play and in years to come they can say they opened for Stiff Little Fingers but imo they were dreadful. By far the worst band I've seen live. When they eventually went off there was 15 mins of seeing up then the lights go down and the theme from Minder starts playing. People are looking around and laughing but I saw SLF not long ago so know what this means. Anchoring myself on the barrier at the front, my mate saw me and did the same. 5 mins of Minder and then it stops and "Go For It" kicks in. The sound of 500 punks all giving it some "Doo doo doo, Doodoo doo doooo" fills the air and the band hit the stage launching straight into "Suspect Device" 3 massive wallops to the back and kidneys later and things start to calm down a little. 1 1/4 hours of fantastic gig later the band shout goodnight and leave the stage. One of the best gigs I've been to in years, made even better being in a tiny venue. Awesome night.
  9. Not my sort of music at all but thanks for taking the trouble and time. These sort of videos have helped me out loads. I'm just learning and at times you feel you are getting nowhere but if you can learn how to play a song you love it gives you a new sense of achievement and you begin believing again that you can actually learn to play.
  10. Why? I was thinking of going see them..
  11. I've just got in from seeing Bob Mould in Stoke on Trent. Fantastic gig. I only knew 2 songs but that didn't detract from it at all. Bob was in Husker Du then went on to form Sugar before going solo. He's got a few more dates to play in the UK. If you get a chance, nip along to see him. It's just him and his guitar on stage.
  12. Woo hoo... I'm heading out in 10 mins to nip to my mates in a craft ale bar, they are out on an all day stag do... Not my sort of thing. Id like to nip in to offer my best wishes though. I'll have a pint then walk acrid Town to go see Bob Mould play in the Sugarmill. Love his Sugar music but don't really know any of his solo stuff.
  13. I've just had an email saying that the postponed Blitzkid gig is now happening in October. Really can't wait for this one. Not off a pain though. I live in the UK and have to go to Chicago in September to see The Misfits then head to New York in Oct for Blitzkid. That's gonna work out expencive.
  14. I'm heading over to Chicago for the Saturday Riotfest. Bad Religion are playing them. I've not seen them live since Stranger Than Fiction came out.
  15. I think I'm gonna get a ticket to see Bob Mould. Bit much of a fan of Husker Du but some of his Sugar stuff was sweet (Ha! See what I did?) From what I've seen on YouTube his voice isn't great live but it'll be worth £23 just to hear A Good Idea live.
  16. Well, not next but I'm quite excited. Just booked tickets for Riot Fest in Chicago. I'm going (from uk) just to see The Original Misfits but Bad Religion, Gwar and Madball are all a bonus. So far, I'm up to a smidge under £2000 for Saturday tickets, flights, hotel etc... for myself and Wife.
  17. This is the second time I've seen them. I was a bit put off in case the new singer wasn't as good as the old one but Oh wow, he blew it outta the park. Looks the part, great voice and good stage presence. Missed the support band but wasn't too bothered. I'll be getting tickets next time they come around again.
  18. I went to see Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons last night. They did a Motorhead set and it was fantastic. ... Road Crew and R. A. M. O. N. E. S. were the massive highlights for me but classics like Bomber, Iron Fist and, obviously, Ace of Spades were hammered out. My ears are ringing and I've lost my voice. One of the best gigs I've been to for years. Now roll on SLF.
  19. Shadow Windhawk and the Morticians
  20. I'm going to see Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons on Friday. Playing a Motorhead set... It should be good.
  21. Id love to be able to do it like that but I suspect a good few years before I can even think about it. Although I did work one out that most on here would do within seconds. It took me 15 mins.... Not exactly hard but I was chuffed to do it.
  22. Whisky helps EVERYTHING.
  23. I know this is a "piece of string" question but if you hear a song you fancy learning, how long does it take you to get it sorted? For Eg.... I listened to "Haunt Me" by Wednesday 13, found some tabs (in new and have to cheat) online and had it sorted in 10 mins.. On the other scale, my mate challenged us both to learn "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica and I've been on it 4 weeks and still only almost halfway through but nowhere near up to speed t with it.
  24. Yeah, I went to Manchester to see them. Great gig, made even better by having TV Smith as first support. He was great.
  25. Stiff Little Fingers are playing about 2 miles from my house so as soon as tickets are released I'll be getting mine.
