7. This is the first proper bass I played. It belonged to Martin Tyson and I used it in 4721 Archer. It was a Fendar Jazz refinished in white. It was heavy as hell but sounded great. It was just before I bought my Aria SB1000.

11.
Hi I live near Kendal so I could collect from Barrow. Have you a rough price in mind and do you know what make the body is?
It was a company called Ferris I bought it and the neck was crap. Ive stuck it on ebay for £50 yours if you want it for £30. Let me know and ill keep it to one side for you. Im in no rush.
12.
This is a solid basswood body including pick ups and hardware. Its nice looking and is finished in metallic silver both the pickups work but it could do with a bit of a rewire as the volume pots aren't wired in properly. I cant be bothered to get a neck as im happy with the bass I have. Delivery will be about £5 or you can pick it up from Barrow-in-Furness free. Rather let it go on here than Ebay so make me an offer or swap me for a 15" 8 ohm speaker.
The machineheads are 2 per side. Forgot to mention that.

15. I also bought a Hartke kickback 15" for under £200, the smaller speaker ones are less money but again it sounds good and has DI output for gigging if you need to put it into a pa.
16. Westfield Warwick copy. Honestly is the dogs bollox for the money. The 4 string is half your budget. It has 2 pickups put the neck on for Precision sound, Front for Jazz or put them both on for the classic Musicman sound. Both have volume so you can blend the sound. It really is great, check it out. I bought another one in a different finish today!
17. If anyone has any info on any of the rarer basses on this thread add the info. Could be quite good to know. (bump in diguise lol)
18. I THOUGHT CAPITALS WERE SHOUTING? I JUST MADE THE LETTERS BIG TO FILL SOME SPACE! SORRY IF I HURT YOUR HEAD.
19.
Satellite through neck P bass from Russell Acott in Oxford - £118 in 1981 - and why.......? Of course the legend that was and is Phil Lynott. Slightly off topic - I was in Sounds Great on Saturday, and I have to say ...'what credit crunch?' - it was 'kin heaving with punters buying (not just looking at) guitars, and the interesting thing was, they were all 40+ age group, paying big money for Strats etc. They've actually got some unusual/nice stuff in too - a 2nd hand Parker Fly bass (commission sale) and a lovely old T Bird too. Oh...... and Johnny Marr was in, trying and buying a new multi fx - and testing it out with what looked like a 60s white Fender Jaguar. He's still proper pop star skinny too - what a legend. If you ever get the chance to go - it's the best guitar shop in and around Manchester. Right by the big John Lewis at Cheadle too (half a mile - tops) - so let the Mrs go for a look round there whilst you have a mooch. Cheers A
I was in my local R&T music on Saturday too and it was heaving. Not just with spotty kids but with people spending money!
20. Mine was a Hobbs Music 4 string bass I traded it for a cheap Columbus Les Paul copy in 1990. I believe they were for the Hobbs music shop in Lancaster but could be wrong. It looked like a Matsumoku made bass with precision pickups, stained finish through neck. It was quite nice as I remember. Started playing because the bigger boys were better guitar players and I wanted to be in a band!
21. The main thing people forget is that the tone (unless playing an open string) comes off the contact point either the fret or finger if fretless. I built a few guitars up and always replaced the chrome saddles with either brass or once even titanium ones. This made a massive difference to the tone but the nut didn't much. I asume the same would apply to bass. The best way to change your tone would be experiment with different strings, this makes on hell of a difference.
22. Any recommendations for a good bass book? Looking for techniques ect as its been a while since I played. I just bought the bass white pages for tablature which is great. Any help appreciated
