Here's my Markbass cab up for sale. It is in near new condition and includes a Roqsolid cover.
The top carpet has a couple of indents where the amp was placed on it. Other than that minor sign of normal use it's as new.
It has been used several times at rehearsal at very low volume levels and at one gig where it was only used as a monitor as I was going through the PA.
It is a great cab. A real one cab solution weighing approximately 18Kg or 40lbs. I'm 70, under 11 stone, have osteoporosis and have suffered a spinal fracture and I'm happy to lug it around.
Specs briefly are
2 x 12" ceramic speakers
600 watts
Piezo switchable tweeter with 2 levels of attenuation
57.8 x 60 x 47 cm
https://www.markbass.it/product/mb58r-122-p-4/
Tone is very Markbass, i.e. effective.
Collection or meet up only. I'm in Kendal, Lake District, NW England.

A tale to help explain how good I think these cabs are.
I've been through a bit of chopping and changing with my rig. I was using one Accugroove Tri112L for band rehearsal and very occasionally both when needed. I decided to get a one cab solution so I had more headroom available with one cab. I bought a MarkBass MB58R P-4. A 600W 4ohm 17.5Kg 2 x 12 with ceramic speakers. I normally use a 'backup' Peavey MiniMax 600W head with it.
With the Accugrooves I've was using my GK800 Legacy. I took both rigs along to our last rehearsal. The Accugrooves and the GK won hands down. I haven't tried swapping the heads around but the experience shows just how good these Accugrooves are.

I bought a Yamaha TRBX605FB from Andy.
Everything was great and exactly as described. Great value, communication and fast delivery.
I really couldn’t have asked for more.

I’ve now a back up 5er incoming. At 18mm it isn’t particularly narrow spacing but it’s quite narrow at the nut and I’ll cope.
My US G&L produces a monstrous tone right where our style of music demands it. The Plek’d neck also makes it so very playable.
It has a full +/- 3EQ with passive tone courtesy of an EMG BTS System which takes nothing away and adds much.
It’ll be interesting to see how the East/Aguilar TRBX 605FM compares.

I saw that to. It looks like new. Very nice.

Thank you for that Matt. I find the MFD pickups are really just right. That blue L1550 is a good price though. Tributes can be that much 2nd hand.
-
My US L2500CLF is quickly becoming like a 2nd skin. I'm getting around to thinking that any backup bass should also have 5 strings in number and have the narrow string spacing that I'm both used to and like.
Does the Tribute have the same narrow string spacing?
Any thoughts on it vs the US model?
Any other suggestions on narrow string spacing 5ers would be appreciated too.

I recently bought a Tech 21 MIDI Footswitch from Mike. He sent the unit well packaged and with 24 hour delivery. He forgot the psu but ordered one next day delivery from Amazon. Very helpful, great communication and he went above and beyond.
Thank you Mike.

I put an East MMSR 3 knob in one. Then used the switches to do pickup selection between Series/Parallel/ Single, Active/Passive and Neck/Both/Bridge. It was wired so that the inner coils were the ones activated when in "single" mode. I did this to make it not like a Jazz but it can be configured to mimic a Jazz if you wire it for the North coils. It's all very different from original but it gives a lot of tonal options. For someone who plays mainly PJs with everything on 10 it was overkill for gigging but endless fun noodling at home.
I spoke to John about using the MMSR as it is the obvious choice. He didn't recommend it.
I've since lowered the treble response frequency using the internal switches and I've fitted some high quality Gotoh knobs to the EMG controls.
The bass is now simply awesome especially in a band setting. It's difficult to imagine anything better (given that I've owned well over 100 basses that's saying something significant
).

Probably to have as a 4ohm pair. When I’ve used mine together they are much more than the sum of their parts 🙂

At the risk of being accused of sacrilege I decided to look at ways of altering my lovely US L2500 CLF's electronics. I found that the treble cut did nothing to my ears. My ears aren't great but I've read that others have had similar issues. I had checked everything through a couple of times and it was all that it should be.
I didn't want to do anything that wasn't reversible. This is an expensive instrument. It sounds really great given that I can't significantly roll off the treble with onboard controls. I love it!
I spoke to John East. A Uni Pre 3 knob would have done the job well but it would need to be modified to accept a single input (I want to use the existing 3 position pickup selector) and the 3 knob version has no passive tone control.
The EMG BQC Control seemed to be suitable. It is a 3 EQ +/- preamp with sweepable mids.
I sourced a 250K/250k concentric pot (Allparts) and set it up as volume over tone, no treble bleed circuit and a 0.047uf tone capacitor. I replaced the 3 way active/passive switch with a 2 way. The passive volume and tone output switches either to the jack socket or via the BQC. I put a 10M resistor across it to mitigate any 'pop' on switching. It works to a large extent.
There was a lot of wiring and soldering involved. I had to turn the series/parallel switch through 90 degrees to get everything to fit. I checked connections as I went along but I suspected it would need some fault finding when complete. It worked straight off the bat! Given that the volume was back to front, easily sorted.
I'm really pleased. The passive tone works subtly but as I expect. It's always in circuit. The active treble control is again subtle but useable. The bass and sweepable mids are stronger but nothing silly.
The active pre gives hardly any noticeable boost. The ability to roll off the treble is what I want and I have it. Adding a variety of mids is also very useful.
The EMG knobs are awful. I'm sure that they used to be a nice moulded rubber. These are a horrible plastic and the top catches on the bottom.
So a success. Everything added and nothing taken away - except for those knobs.

I had a BQC control in my Epiphone Les Paul. BQC control is just a preamp, it will accept whatever you feed it, so you do all the trickery you require (volume, passive tone, pickup selection, coil selection) first in whichever way you see fit, then feed the results of that to the BQC instead of it going to the output jack.
In the case of the Epi LP, it was a pair of EMG-HB pickups, going to plain 25K pots (EMGs need that low value), then onto the usual Les Paul pickup selector switch, then the output of that fed to the BQC.
Thank you Matt. I did wonder if the original volume could be used. That helps a lot.

Does anyone have experience of the EMG BQC control (not the BQC System)?
I have a lovely USA G&L L2500 and I miss having real +/- EQ and mid control. The bass itself is superb. A later Plek'd model with the CLF headstock. It's a dream to play. The passive treble cut does very little.
The BQC Control has two concentric controls, one for bass/treble and one for mids with a sweepable frequency.
Any mods I make need to be reversible and I'd like to retain use of the 3 way pickup selector and the series/parallel switch.
I've spoken to the lovely man that is John East and a Uni pre would do the job but I don't think he can make me a single input version plus it needs to be plate mounted.
I don't think that the BQC Control includes a Volume control. Am I correct in this and if so what volume control should I use?
The perfect setup for this bass would include an active/passive switch and a passive tone control under the volume knob.
Any thoughts or ideas?
I have emailed EMG.

I now have 7 basses. I once had 27!, back when I was single. Friends used to visit and stay over just to play them all
I have too many but I can't complain. This is a lovely bass. I don't need it but owning it is a pleasure and I can bring it out occasionally. I have it on sale here and on eBay. I'll maybe give it a week and withdraw it and just keep it and hope the wife doesn't start counting. I'm not prepared to drop below £400 but I will ship to the UK for £15, which amounts to the same thing I know. If not I win either way
I haven't has this lovely bass long. I decided that I needed a 5 string to deal with the band's regular need to drop key. It was bought locally and this bass is like new as hopefully the photos show.
Weight measured with accurate digital fishing scales is 9.48lb and the bass balances well on a strap and seated.
Strung with a set of D'Addario nickel wound strings that are very fresh.
In a way it's better than new. The action was as good as you'd expect. As is my way I ran a fret rocker over the fretboard and found one fret, 20 of 21 slightly high. A light dress and polish to this one fret has resulted in a gloriously low clean action for those who like their bass set up this way.
Why am I selling? A GAS attack pure and simple. I saw the CLF G&L L2500 for sale on here and got led astray
The price is firm as it's exactly what I paid and a very good price for this excellent example of a highly rated 5 string bass.
Viewing and trying out welcomed in Kendal. I don't have a spare gig bag or case at the moment so collection preferred but otherwise I can probably sort packaging and courier at cost.

I’m fairly certain I owned this bass a few years ago. An awesome fretless at an extremely good price.

So exactly the same shape, I guess “no extra holes” should have been my question
No, the exact same one. The two small screws may be causing the confusion. As I say in the description I originally had a surface mounted pickup fitted, a Curtis Novak gold foil.
