been lusting after one for years but never took the plunge, daughter also fleeced me for a 12 string acoustic >.<
have to say im not one to often pick up a bass in a shop (im a bit shy) i felt comfortable enough in there to nervously rattle out some nonsense on a couple of basses :)

Chap who i used to deal with at DV lost his job with all of this going on. I had great service from him, so im sure he will get a job with another firm very soon. Seems the firm themselves dont have a lot of scruples though.

If I do play a bass in a shop I almost never play songs. I play every note up and down each string and see how it sounds, acoustically first and then, maybe, plugged in.

Try playing by the neck, playing by the bridge, etc. etc. but not songs usually. I'm checking out the bass not doing a gig.

 Er, have you read any of my posts? It's working perfectly. Because of specific medical problems I have I'm struggling with the ergonomics (i.e. shape and contouring) , not the electronics.

That's got to be a possible contender for most random post ever...

Some people forget what it is like to learn a new skill, I am new to double bass and have asked lots of what may appear to be stupid questions, some answers were obvious once I had been given some advice.
Thankfully the same old people comparing penis size don't tend to frequent that area of the forum :)

time for me to pick up double bass :)

  8. encourage them for the most part i would say, but if you know full well they have not practised since the last time you saw them surely its best to express your disappointment even if its no praise or encouragement ?
telling it like it is ... well thats one point of view but it may not be that way for the other party or anyone else in ear shot
