Not much to you I know but there's a great "foam cut to size" stall on Norwich (permanent) Market - I guess you may be able to find a similar outlet somewhere closer to you?
Actually there might be some thing like that near me, we have a few markets and i can imagine one of them sell foam. If not then i've just found on ebay an upholstery supplier who sells foam padding for seats... Not quite what i wanted but so long as i can cut holes in it then it'll work for me.
2.
If you're a high street buyer - i.e. don't have trade accounts with suppliers, then Maplins might be worth a shout as they seem to stock this sort of stuff - might be expensive though. There is a member on here called obbm who makes cables to order, you could try him?
oo thanks, and yeah i am a high street buyer.
3. I've just bought a mixer and there's two outputs. One RCA and a stereo pair of 3/4" jack outputs. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could find an RCA --> 3.5mm connector. Not an RCA--> 3.5mm lead but a connector so i can plug a set of headphones into the RCA outputs. (the bottom righthand connector in this image...) http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/view/24...-accessory-pack I would buy that but it's £30 quid and i only want the one connector and i can't find any other connectors on their website or by google searching. Also. Does anyone know where i can find a 3/4" jack cable that Y-splits into a stereo 3/4" jack. I dont know if that makes sense so i'll try and explain what i'm trying to do. I want to link the stereo outputs on the mixer, two 3/4" outputs, to my monitors, which go through one 3/4" intput. So i'm looking for either a Y-split cable or a Y-split connector that can do that. Thanks. Long live BC.
4. i dunno about power amps or anything like that and i know you said you've given up on looking for cheap wedges but i advise looking at Carlsbro powered monitors. I use Carlsbro power pair EM/PM10. They're a matched pair and work rather damn well.
5. I have a Boss RC-20XL which is realllly damn good. And someone i know has the one pedal version which they say is also really good. Only problem is that the RC-20 price keeps jumping up so i wouldn't wait for the price to drop...it wont. (mine took several months to arrive due to a stock failure on behalf of Dolphin music and in that time the price rose, literally, about 70 quid). Someone might have one second hand, someone on here was selling one ridiculously cheaply a while back. Hope this helps.
6. I've just bought a mixer which came with a flight case but the flight case it easily big enough to also store several pedals in it, i was wondeirng if anyone knew where i could buy sheets of foam padding. I'm looking for 1" thick sheets about the size of an A3 piece of paper, though i could always cut things down to size. Any help would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks
7. ace. I'll hunt some band members down when i'm there. Even if they just play the spoons... imagine a spoon orchestra...
8.
Cabs have a habit of looking small in shops and on stages but ridiculously large in one's house - exactly what you don't want! Alex
that's what i thought, given it was up against several other amps.
9. What's this about UCL Unions being an awful venue? I'm going to UCL next year (hopefully) so there'd better be somewhere good to play. ...plus a band to play with. (i know this is going completely off the topic of this post so i hope you dont mind my interjection) (edit) Just listened to the songs, and they're rather darn good. (yes, not just rather good but rather DARN good)
10. I was in Dawsons the other day and i'm sure the LD150 they had was smaller than the one in my room. Have Line6 changed the model specs. or was it just that it was up against some much bigger combos? I've had my amp for a few years now so they could've just changed the size a bit, it was just quite wierd cause their amp looked several inches smaller than mine... Anyone? Thanks.
11.
damn id really like to take this off you but i haven't got any cash atm. ill get back to you on this, dan
alright-y Given the current rate of interest i think it'll still be here. But i shall keep it safe. Enjoy
12. Soundlab Micro Mixer G105F Four channel stereo mixer OR 8 channel mono mixer, all changed with the press of a button. Powered via 9V D.C. (not supplied) or a 9V battery. 8 3/4" inputs, each with a volume control. Two output volume controls, left and right for stereo. 1 3/4" output. Simple volume alteration, about the size of 3 'BBQ' match sized match boxes stacked on top of each other. Weighs...really really light, this is more than portable. I have used it the day i bought it then was given another mixer so this is going spare. I bought it a week ago, it's in 'as new' condition apart from the box has a few knocks but that has no effect on the mixer. Also there's no manual, none was included when bought, but you dont need one. All the info if on the box then just plug in and go. I have used it to do some recording on my Micro BR and it sounded good. No tone loss, i plugged in my acoustic bass, and also using a realllly bad mic. (unbranded stuff someone had in their cupboard) and again, it worked great. I'm looking for...£15 posted (first class delivery) This is slightly less than the cheapest online price i could find, and reflects that it's 'as new' and used once. (paypal is fine or bank transfer) any takers? Enjoy.
13. whoever suggested string change. genius. Sorted it, plus slightly higher pick ups on the high end and lower towards E and A and voila. just gotta wear out some of that new string 'twang' Enjoy. Thanks again.

PA monitors

wouldn't the main difference be due to the speaker size and depth. Cause, i as using GCSE physics knowledge here...and i wasn't that good, surely a larger, deeper speaker cone would produce a deeper sound. And that'll be the main difference... (might be talking utter rubbish)
15. perhaps stating the obvious but does it sound 'off' if you imagine the sound of an acoustic guitar. Cause i have an acoustic bass n acoustic guitar n they sound relatively similar. So if it sounds like an acoustic guitar then there probably isn't anything wrong. (i hope that doesn't seem patronising, but at with the guy above. I dont actually understand the problem)
16. Thanks to everyone for all the advice. I'm quite glad i did post this now. I have a feeling the pick up might be slightly higher towards D and E, infact i shall check right now... Yeah i think the bridge pick up is slightly higher on the E end, very slightly. As for the strings, someone might be right there the G is a different make to the rest of them. I use either D'Addario Chromes Flatwound (Super Light, i like having a loose tension) Or La Bella 'Deep Talkin' Flatwound (against a light gauge) I say either cause one of those is on my fretted and one is on my fretless, (the bass in question is fretless) I dont know why i didn't change that G string, it was probably cause it was a 'nice' tension. I will have a hunt later for the other string and restring, and see if that makes a difference. It might explain why the G is quieter. If that doesn't work then i might then set about trying out some of the other suggestions. Thanks agian for the help. And keep it coming if there's any other ideas. Ashok
17. Yeah the output's lower on both pickups and i've tried lowering just the D and G strings but it didn't seem to change anything. As for checking the actual pickups i haven't, i might get it checked over by a guitar tech. but i thought some helpful advice from the BC community could aid my plight first. Turn the pick ups around...hmm, nice idea. (Just to clarify, do you mean switching the two around or turning them 180 degrees, if that makes sense)?
18. Hi, i have a jazz, style, bass that has a realllly low output on the D and G strings but the E and A are relatively loud. (I posted something earlier about the voluming cutting but i realised that was just the amp) I've tried altering the EQ on the bass n that doesn't change the output...can't see why it would but perhaps. I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to how i could boost these two strings volume. If i was to play a G on each string (sticking with the same pitch G) then it sounds louder on the D and E strings, so it's not like the bass is responding differently to different frequencies. (I might've just mis matched a lot of words there but i hope you'll get what i mean) Would changing the Pick ups, or wiring or the tone controls (it's passive right now) help? I know compression might work aswell, or something like that, but i just get the feeling that there's something 'up' about my bass. Thanks.
19. Take out the draws, grab a bed sheet and go sailing. Could set up your own musical ship, set sail for international waters and see where the waves take you. Or sink like...a fridge.
20. wiring...didn't think of that, i shall get it checked out. thanks.
21. Ok well, i have a fretless jazz, style, bass. Not a fender or anything, twos actually made for me by some guy...i would say who but to be honest i dont know. The problem is, i've had the bass for a few months now and really dislike playing it cause i get a really uneven output from it, the D and G string are much quieter than the A and E and also the output can just vary from time to time so it sounds like the noise is cutting in and out. I have tried lowering the D and G strings but this doesn't help so i was wondering if anyone thought it could be a pick up problem? I think it could be, as that would explain the varying output, i dont know how it would but i think it would. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so can they suggest any solutions. Thanks.
