  1. Sandberg Custom Ken Taylor

    SOLD

Bought from Neil Murray on this forum as a bass to get back into playing with.  Its genuinely excellent but I am moving to a P bass as it will suit my current bands more and it is the sound I hear in my head for bass lines.

Currently strung with EB Cobalts and it sounds brilliant. Would like get back what I paid for it at 795. Not interested in trades as I have my eye on a bass already. Would cost considerably more to get one specced this well from Sandberg.

Details taken from Neil's thread here >>> Previous Sale

"I had this built to my specifications, from the choices on the Sandberg website. Home use only. There are plenty of small dings and marks, which is Sandberg’s interpretation of ’soft aged finish’, which wasn’t what I was expecting - I would preferred either more obvious relicing or a perfect finish.

Of course a great sounding bass, enhanced by the high-quality Demeter preamp.

    Basic Ken Taylor model

    Body: European ash (I think)

    Top: Imbuia with matched headstock

    Soft aged finish

    Rosewood neck

2 Sandberg powerhumbuckers, black metal covers, split coil on bridge pickup

Electronics: Demeter BEQP-1 Bass EQ Preamplifier - active balance control which mixes two pickups and provides active equalisation for treble, middle and bass. The treble and bass are both shelving controls with 14dB of boost and cut @ 6dB per octave. The middle control is a peak control with plus and minus 12dB of cut and boost @ 6dB per octave.

Black hardware with Hipshot Bass Xtender on E machine head

    Abalone front face dots

    Sandberg gig bag"

  2. Can only think of two occasions this has happened to me:

    1. Snow Patrol supporting Athlete a few weeks before Run was released. ~2003

    2. Kill It Kid supporting Vintage Trouble in Lincoln ~2011 (although Vintage Trouble were still outstanding)

  3. Kawai ES110 with pedal, collapsible stand, ABS Hard Case and a few learn piano books. Bought to teach myself piano but not really using it and have my eye on a bass so could use the money/space back in my study.

Perfect condition. Collection from NW London but could meet within 45 minutes of Stanmore if needed.

    £450

Surprised there were no advocates for the TecAmp Puma - available as 500w, 900w and 1000w - great phat tone palette.

Although not small, the Glockenklang heads may be just what your after tone wise.

I was going to recommend one of these. Just picked up a TecAmp Puma 500w from the bass gallery. Tested it against  a MB Little Mark/Aguilar TH500 in store. The MB sounded a little more sterile than the Puma/TH but the Puma just swung it although not much in it. Lovely sounding amp and pretty reasonable used!

  5. After many years away I finally have the time and a little spare income to return to playing bass ... I last played properly back at uni in 2007 although I dabbled a bit a few years ago.

I really enjoyed playing rock/funk i.e. RHCP and Jamiroquai but before I stopped I was trying to teach myself jazz to improve my theory.

I am really looking forward to getting back in to playing. Took a trip to the bass gallery today (amazing stock and helpful staff) to pick up a lightweight rig for home use and hopefully small gigs eventually and should be soon picking up the Sandberg KT that @neilmurraybass was selling on here as well. (my wife wanted to buy it for me as my version of her engagement ring and who am I to say no...)

Have been loitering around the forums for a couple of weeks and a lot of gear seems to have changed since I stopped 12 years ago.

Pic of new rig with a pic of new bass to follow. I have bought in the hope that this gear will not need changing in a long time but I do remember the perils of Gas! 15597408481101742724117339782611.thumb.jpg.74e7c9359de489c30ed7129a44757666.jpg

    Catch you around the forums!

  6. SOLD

This is easily the nicest jazz bass I've ever played. Custom guitar now built and need the money.

Quilted Maple in Magenta Pink, Swamp Ash body with a tinted Maple neck.

Some of the knobs have been changed from silver to black Suhr knobs to make it match better rather than the mix of black.chrome on some Suhrs.

I have attached the Suhr order sheet for all details.

A genuinely stunning bass but needs must...

  7. After spending a fair amount of time in Vegas and listening to "The Bull" radio station which pretty much plays this stuff constantly I've found southern rock growing on me a lot... Good guitar and quite catchy songs. This is the first time I've heard of them but quite enjoying it... beats the normal southern song writing about either; trucks, girls, drinking.

Black Stone Cherry are good as well!

  8. It feels so good to be back on a 4 stringer rather than a 5 stringer. Feels like home. Traded my Shuker 5 string Singlecut for a beautiful Suhr Jazz. Hardware is slowly being changed to black but plays beautifully and sounds pretty damn good! Not really played bass properly for many years apart from dabbling and already finding myself able to play some of the stuff I used to be able to... admittedly with slightly less efficient technique!

Apologies to Eubassix for using some of his pictures!
