I bought this bass about 3 weeks ago on here from kevsy71 and it is really is excellent; however, I recently received some inheritance money. I have promised my wife a 1 in, 1 out rule on my basses and have my eye on something vintage so sadly this has to go.
Versatile EQ and incredibly easy to play. Was bought as my first 5 string and with 19mm spacing it was an easy switch. If the bass I am after sells then I will probably withdraw this sale.
£1300 including shipping to the UK (comes in an old Cort hardcase which will be very well packed)
Ad details stolen from previous sale here:

(this explains the bass was designed in California, built in Japan, and finished in California!)
"The production of each high quality Xotic bass guitars begins in our Los Angeles, CA shop where the wood, shape, color, hardware, pickups and all other features are precisely designed for each instrument. Every model goes through an extensive process of R&D to determine which wood, construction and electronics will best serve its envisioned use.
These exact specifications are then sent to T’s Guitars in Japan. T’s Guitars has an enduring reputation of producing exceptional hand quality instruments in Japan and Xotic has a long and ongoing relationship with them.
Great attention is paid to picking the finest woods for our bodies and necks and each piece is hand selected.
Seasoned builders blend old world craftsmanship with modern CNC technology in building each instrument with each step in the process supervised up to Xotic’s meticulous specs.
Guitars are then shipped to our California shop where our Master Luthier will inspect each instrument. Fretwork is finalized with a fret dress that addresses every facet of the fret surface. Additional setup includes string height, truss rod adjustments and fine-tuning of pickups and electronics. Particular attention is giving to the instruments playability, tone, fit and finish."

Cosmetics:
Excellent condition, I can't find any body marks that would show up on a photo. A few minor scuffs and dings on the headstock.

Just get yourself to www.thebassgallery.com in Camden. Those guys really know what they’re selling and will give you loads of good advice.
This. Especially for your first bass so you can get used to the different tones and more importantly neck profiles/weight! If you don't enjoy playing it and find it uncomfortable you are less likely to stick with it. Even if you go there to try things out then buy used from here it would help you immensely.

Very nice... You won't regret it!

Couldn't do it in the end so holding on to my Will Lee. Still the best 4 string I've ever played and would regret it if I sold it! I'll bring it to a south east/London bash some time!

That is stunning. Congratulations and enjoy your "afternoon at work"!

Xotic XJ-1T. Really easy to play, sounds great and the EQ is excellent so that covers me for jazz sounds.

It is indeed the only 4 string I would need but not sure I'll be playing 4 strings anymore... If it had 5 strings I'd be keeping it. I don't need to sell it so if I don't get what I'm after for it then I'll hold on to it. It is a stunning bass but I've not picked it up since getting the 5 string.

Can't sell it. Still the best 4 string I've ever played.

After using the bass for all my playing this week, I am still really enjoying the switch to 5 string, similar string spacing to my 4 string means the switch has definitely been an easy one.
Overall, I really like the sound of the bass although I think I need to explore the EQ options a little more. Tonally not quite as versatile as my Will Lee but I really love the sounds it makes and there isn't much in it. I have barely picked up the 4 string since getting this bass, and the one time I did it felt like a toy after playing the 5 string neck!

Bought from Kevsy71 on the forum as I want to expand to a 5string having been inspired by some of the amazing gospel bassists on YouTube. After reading a lot of good reviews on Talkbass, this was too good pass up:
Xotic XJ-1T 5 string
Initial impression is that it is remarkably easy to play. Ran through some exercises then spent a while practicing sight reading to incorporate the low B. Have to move around fretting hand so much less.
It sounds great already, and the B isn't floppy at all which is nice. Will post an update in a few more days. Haven't really had any issues with the extra string so far, if anything it might be easier due to the reduced movement!
Thanks again to Kevsy71 for such an easy sale.

Wanted one of those Status PJs for years. I remember listing after them when I first played bass!

My transcription archive in the Theory and Technique section exists for this very purpose, to provide more interesting material to practice reading.
Awesome. I'll check it out.

I have been trying to teach myself to sight read during these fun times of isolation and after having worked through a couple of the SBL Sight Reading courses I came across this site on their forums.
Genuinely the best thing I have found so far and my reading has come on loads in a short space of time through repetition. The site auto-generates 8 bars of music at a difficulty you can preset and then you can try reading it, playing it and then it can playback so you can play along with it as well. It was $35 for a years subscription but you can get about 18 pieces free to try it out. Would highly recommend it for those wanting to improve their reading.
Disclaimer: They have a referral service where you can get free months if people signup. I have found this genuinely useful so posted the link above without referral tag as it has genuinely improved my reading in a short space of time. I have posted my referral link below but don't want to appear like I am pushing the site for my own benefit.
