1.
Hey, is there a preamp in the bass? The knobs look like they have dual action - is that correct? What do they do? Are you ever in London? Davo
Sorry mate, I've just sold this today!
2. Hi guys Selling this as a complete package. The bass is a Peavey Zephyr I've had from brand new about 9 years ago. It's 4 string thru neck with 2 passive soap bar pickups. The build is lovely and very solid; Peavey just don't make them like this any more in this price range. The amp is a Peavey Microbass 20W practice amp. I cut the material off the outside when I was a kid as I thought this was cool - obviously this doesn't affect the amp in any way apart from appearance. This is the best practice amp I've ever played, and for the size and weight its pretty good! Also bought from new at the same time as the bass. There's also a gig bag, and I'll throw in a strap and lead as well. Selling due to a planned move in summer - I play 5 string now and this was my first bass, I have only even kept it for sentimental reasons as it was my first bass. £175 ono for quick sale to you basschatters, I'm going to list for £200 elsewhere! Willing to split if requested. This is in Manchester but I have transport. Cheers Al
3. yeah so this was a breakfast show, first and last time I saw 8am in a long time!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O9IYmXQ9W0
4. As mentioned in a recent previous thread, I don't think I'll be living in the UK for much longer as I've been touring a lot abroad, and if I am still "living" here I won't have a permanent base as it's not worth me paying rent... this is a great bass, but never gets played, so has to go. It's a fretless "Jazzbasstard". Alder body with the 70's bridge pickup positioning ( 1/2" closer to the bridge and ideal for a good fretless tone). The p'ups are Lindy Fralins, overwound by 5%. The bridge is a badass2 and the preamp is an ACG02 which is filter based. The controls are vol/blend, Low pass and High pass filters with their boosts on top. The neck, which in my opinion is the best part of the whole bass, is Warmouth with a rosewood lined fretboard. The wood here is stunning. The tuners are shaller. There is one slight ding on the back of the neck only, the rest of the bass is in great condition. In an ideal world, £350 gets the bass, but I'm open to offers. For collection/delivery, please discuss it with me, as I travel a lot and may be able to meet somewhere. Oh, and the colour is a metallic blue =) Cheers for looking Al
5. Sold pending all the usual... Me being a bass dude, and thus somewhat a nugget, I can't work out how to change the title of the thread. Sorry!!
6.
Hi Al, Great looking bass at a good price - hopefully shouldn't be here too long; good luck with the sale.. BTW, Al's a great person to deal with folks, so you can deal with him with absolute confidence! So, how did the tour go and is the Fender Jazz 5 still treating you well (or should that be the other way round?). Nik
Hey Nik, thanks mate!! How's everything with you? tour was great thanks, had an amazing time in The Netherlands and can't wait to go back this summer! Gotta have a bit of a clear out before my tenancy here ends though... so... you know... Also, I'm open to offers guys, this has to go and I know that eBay is one hell of a lot crueller than selling stuff here, so feel free to make an offer... I won't get offended =)
7. Yeah so I bought this bass new in August 2008, and now it just sits in my room... Just got back from a Europe tour and I'm having a quick clear out of what I don't need as I can only take so much stuff on the road with me, and I get the feeling that that's the way things are going to be for a bit... I've only been at home for 1 month this year! And also, I've got an amazing 1st and 2nd bass... so there's just no need in me having this one. Make me an offer, around the £300 mark would be nice =) oh, as you can see, it's used... has a bit of buckle rash on the back... Cheers, thanks for looking Al
8. I take my basses to a chap called Jack Ellis up in Salford, so if you're in the Manchester area he's a possibility. He's a top guy to deal with and I've never had any problems, always documents exactly what he does and will re-adjust your bass free of charge if the set-up isn't quite right or it settles in and starts buzzing or anything... I think he's on here as "gabson" or you can get hold of him on 07706828122 - tell him I sent ya =)
9.
I have thought about this but the MU is about 3 times more expensive than my musicguard quote
MU gives you £2k unspecified, so if anything goes up to that value it's covered... also get free legal advice, medical with BAPAM etc... That's what I have now, but I got the student rate membership.. I had Musicguard the year before and nothing went wrong, but since I never had to claim I can't really recommend them!
10.
cool - how do you get a music player on facebook? been wanting to do that for a while now but not been able to find anything...... c
Thanks guys! You need to make a band "page" to have the music player I think... then you just add it when you're editing the page =) It's fairly straightforwards if we've managed to do it!
11. Hi guys Recently a label put my band in the studio with a veteran producer to get the best demo they can to present to the powers that be... Anyways, you can hear it on myspace http://www.myspace.com/weareshoshin and facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=730...056083?ref=pymk so have a listen, and add us as a friend/become a fan if you're that way inclined Cheers, oh, and of course, feedback appreciated... and I can't resist. For you gear heads, Levity and Big Bang are on my fender jazz 5, and litterbug is on my musicman 5, both of which I aquired on here! The amp is an EA iamp800... enjoy Al
12. Had the pleasure of meeting Nik in his home town, he's a really great guy with plenty of music and bass playing experience, and some good stories to tell too! Had a spot on afternoon of chatting all things music and not, and playing some great basses that Nik has the good fortune of owning... and I could not be happier with the swap that we did. I think I have found my life partner in a bass! Anyways, it was more than worth the journey, and I can't thank you enough Nik... You're definitely a guy that's got it right in terms of music, bass playing and philosophy! Cheers, keep on doing what you do! Al
