This is the only 6er Hyperbass ever made. It does not have the detuners, which I prefer. It is strung with regular gauge strings. Personally I never explored the altered tuning thing, too much for me. Even the hyperbass 4 I used to own didn't have the detuners. It is just a monster 6 string fretless with a 3 octave range.

It's absolutely beautiful. I LOVE the shape of the Hyperbass.

2. I think the quote is 6 months, but I'd say to mentally add an extra month. (Or six weeks) It seems like a lot of the finalising work is where the delay kicks in. I know that Jon is not ready to let a bass go until it's something he's proud of. And in fairness Jon did a one off custom job on the logo on mine which he wasn't happy with at first.

3. I got mine at the weekend.
This is my third Shuker, and much as I love the 2x 6 string headless basses, this is right on the money for me. I'm an old school guy with a penchant for top end gear... A P bass is really where my roots are.
I have the good fortune to be living only a 20 min drive from Jons workshop, so I can discuss builds with him in person, at a whim. (not that I'd bother him unduly) What a lovely fella, and what a craftsman.
I had a few requests for a Precision bass, and not all of them were totally in keeping with the JJB sig bass (black headstock)
However Jon had kept back the serial number 16 for a special version of the JJB, the "Suite XVI" and after a little persuasion (and a couple of drinks in Sheffield at the Stranglers gig,) agreed to make this bass 'the one'. I prefer a rosewood neck to maple and Jon had a piece of the rarer Indian Rosewood in his store which I was keen to get my hands on, literally...
The mirror scratch plate is purely because I'm currently doing a lot of Lizzy based material in my band... Jon is making a Black one for me as a spare.

So here it is, a real one off bass...
"Suite XVI"

Right away this bass sounds the business... I plugged it in and immediately it just sings out... Just a hint of aggressive growl from the handwound overwound pickup, all the big thump you'd expect from a P, and it plays like a dream... Furthermore the strings are *really* even tonally anywhere on the neck. It doesn't seem to matter where you play, it sounds like the note just 'belongs'. No swampy E and no thin reedy high notes on the G... just hitting a chord makes it obvious this is a real beauty.
I'm not going to go on about this bass at lengths. All I will say is that if you're looking at a top end build at a reasonable price (considering it's totally hand built), you can't go wrong with a Shuker JJB.

ah PS The only thing to remember when/if you order is to add a good month to the time quote, as Jon is such a perfectionist he'll not be happy with it at the expected delivery date, and will fix and polish it until he is happy that it is good enough. Most people moan about delays like this, but to be honest I'd rather have a bass take 7 months, than have one that the luthier wasn't happy with in six... It's all part of the price of having a hand-built bass.

4. Man alive! Rehearsed it today... Sounds brill. Plug n go. Sounded great without fannying... And the most even tone across the entire bass I've ever experienced! Top of the neck on the G string still sounds big and fat and the big open E isn't swampy, it's crisp and tight... Totally went straight to the top of my go-to bass list.
I can highly reccommend this bass if anone is fence sitting... It has exceeded my expectations by quite a margin.

I wonder if it would be possible to combine a torzal twist and novax fanned frets and how playable it'd be. Or at least how long before it'd make you feel sea sick.

Forgive me if this has been posted already...

6. He kept back serial number 16 for a special bass (I think for JJ himself) but was good enough to let me have it as this is my third Shuker. (The mirror plate is purely because I'm playing Lizzy stuff at the moment. I am getting a black plate made when I take it back in 6 months for a service.)

7. Just took ownership of "Suite 16" My one-off (Serial number "16") Shuker JJB PBass. The Black Headstock, rare Rosewood board and mirror plate was my personal request, and as it was to be a "Special one off" Jon agreed! It plays like the best pbass ever, and tomorrow I shall get to hear it at volume... I'll let you know!
8. Purchased a Crybaby from Kizzer. It was a very smooth operation with fast, well packed delivery. Great communication too. Would recommend this guy 100%

Thanks for a pleasant and efficient deal buddy!

9. I can't praise duraplug enough! I have one I put together when I was about 20. I'm 52 now. It works perfectly and doesn't even show wear. They are not brittle plastic like the low quality crap you tend to get in your local B&Q or whatever nowadays. They're more like the pliable stuff which flexes but doesn't shatter!
Oddly enough the humble extension socket is probably one of the most overlooked bits of kit, and worth spending an extra couple of quid on quality. Especially if it lasts 30 years or more eh?

Good luck with the sale bud.

10. Awesome guy!
Bought a EHX Blackfinger and couldn't be happier. Great comms, and a super speedy delivery! Arrived the very next day after deal was struck! Great doing business with you sir!
