It would have to be "The Weaver's Answer" by Family. I have made this known to several people, so hopefully it will happen come the day.

There is a fine line between genius and crap, and he crosses the line several times. But what do I know: Iḿ just an old fart!
Yep, I starte to watch this with my wife, in great anticipation, and after about 5 minutes we agreed that it was crap and switched it off. Dissapointed, because his album work was generally brilliant.

Bass to lead to amp here. Although I do have a wireless system, and sometimes add a tuner. But definitley no effects.

Ah, but those are Trace Watts!

I would also point out that Adrian got all the sounds he needed without the use of any pedals. To quote red dwarf:" What a guy "

And "The Alliance", which had Tony Martin as singer until Black Sabbath stole him.
I live in the same village as Ady and knew him pretty well, having played in a local band (Get One In) with him (and his drummer brother). The best rock guitarist I've ever had the pleasue to play with, and with none of the ego. An all round lovely man who will be missed terribly.
Even though we knew it was coming I am gutted, as will be most of the village and any one who knew him.
The Alliance had been planning to record and release some of their previously unreleased material, see photo below.
Adrian is far right in this photo, sporting his typical grin.

And talking of Chapel Lawn, I played there a few of times, once with Bang Bang Romeo (who went on to bigger things, someone from here played bass on their last tour?), and twice with Dredd and the Badass Weeds...
Clun, Chapel Lawn: all takes me back to my youthful "formative" days in Bishops Castle.

Not while I was playing, but "Can I have my money back?"

John Cage, 4' 33", repeated as many times as necessary.
That's fine, as long as you don't cut it short halfway through a repeat.

Sadly never played it in a band.

Thank you all for your thoughts on this. Unfortuantely for me opinion seems to be split down the middle! (I haven't counted them).
I think what I'll probably do is do a couple more rehearsals with them and see how I am feeling after that.
It's not that I don't like Metal, as much as I've never really paid it much attention, so I might get to like it.
It is certainly good to have something to work towards again

The guitarist owns the PA we use, I don't expect to be paying to fix it if any of it requires repair unless I'm personally responsible for breaking it.
In which case he should perhaps be charging the rest of you a hire fee for every gig.

Also if your instrument isn't amplified by the PA, and you don't use a mic for BVs, the PA is not your problem.
But can the band function without a PA? If not, and it is more than just the singer through the PA, then it is to everyones benefit to have one, surely. Mind you could could say that about a bass guitar etc.

I have provided PA and lights to my current Ceilidh band (in which I play melodeon) for about 25 years, without charging.
The old kit is now getting a bit heavy for us to lug around (It hasn't got any heavier, but we're all getting old and decrepit).
I said to the band that I needed to modernise it to a lighter system, but would have to charge a bit per gig (not so many these days).
Tha band all said NO! You buy it, tell us what it costs and we'll all contribute equally, BUT the PA remains yours. I.e they appreciate the free use over the last 25 years, and are happy to pay restropectively for its use.
I consider myself very fortunate to have such good bandmates (Who thankfully can all afford to make that offer).
Perhaps I should have posted this in the "Daily Awesomeness" thread.

Aye, I suspect 99% of guitarists could play bass to a certain level so it's not a complete surprise to see some of them give it a pop!
Well, it's only got 4 strings, so can't be that hard, can it?

I have just recently joined a band (two rehearsals in).
They are nice people, seem pretty good at what they do, and seem to like what I do. They/we are still someway (months) from being ready to play out as the singer is also new.
The problem? They are an originals Metal band, and I am not really into metal. I am much more into blues, classic rock, and old style R and B, so if we were playing up the local pub I probably wouldn't bother to go and see us.
However it is a band to play in, which I've not had since pre lockdown.
What do I do? What would you do?
I worry that If an opportunity to join a bluesy band came up then I would be very tempted to jump ship, thus letting this band down. Especially if the bluesy band had a vacancy for piano/saxophone, which Mrs Bassy plays. BUt then there arn't that many opportunities around. Is it a bird in the hand thing?
What would you do?

Most class D amps use a type of modulation called Pulse Width Modulation. It is more a radio modulation technique, think of AM, FM, PWM. It is not strictly analogue and it is not digital. It could use a digital control circuit but the amplification is not digital.
At the time Class D was developed, we already had Classes A, B and C. Hence it was called Class D.
Back on topic please.
To quote myself:
"Don't start that old debate up again."
Perhaps I should have said please, or even pretty please.

No such thing as a digital poweramp, simply not possible.
I am sure you mean Class D, which is very much analog.

Since eddy currents seems to be the most scientific explanation of the effect (if there is one), then I would expect screening the back of the pickguard and the Pickup cavities to have a similar effect.

If it was me I would. In the old days when 50Hz main was the main problem you might get away with it. These days with all sorts of high frequency electrical noise in the environment you really should make that cage as complete as possible.

Just watched a bit with the new singer on youtube. VOcally he seems pretty good. Antics wise he comes over as trying too hard to be Ian Drury.

Serious CNC machines are actually still quite expensive. Hobby machines are getting cheaper however.
Personally I would probably prefer a CNC machine over hand built, simply for the repeatability and accuracy. Even hand finishing should be reduced to a minimum by using the right machine and the right tooling. "Hand Built" no longer automatically means higher quality.
