2.
Are you selling it to buy light bulbs? If you get a nice sunny day (unlikely in January I know) take it outside and get some good snaps - lots of them - in daylight. I'm sure you'll have offers flooding in.
Lightbulbs.....I'm a candle man mate, can't go for this new fangled rubbish lol. Pics taken with a 3.2 mp cam phone I'm afraid, spur of the moment. Will break out the pro cam tonight and post new pics.
3. I'm under going a bit of an itchy fingered period in my life, and I know that if I'm not part of a band, my talent of almost 20 years is being wasted, so I'm in the very, very, very early debating stages of possibly parting with some much loved gear to bring myself bang up to date. First on the list, and the list hasn't been started yet hence the Feeler, could be my 72 P bass. It's the genuine USA and has been left untoughed by myself. It's definately the finshed article guys, and an absolute dream to play. Sound is out of this would, I play through on original Trace 715 combo with the GP7 and it sounds dreamy. Its got some lovely natural wear and some general battering. What I'm looking for really is a rough idea on what the going market rate would be for such a piece. From there, the decision would be made whether or not I'd be willing to let this little gem go. Pics aren't the best I'm afraid, but give the general idea.
4.
'and while it allows me to pitch better when I'm singing'
Hi guys, I was just going to ask about this before I saw Finbars comments. I'm definately up for protecting the listeners, but when on stage, particularly singing high harmonies, was just wondering if any one else has found the 'being able to actually hear your own voice' benefit of ear plugs. I was looking into in ear monitoring, but if can go down the ear plug route with the same benefit, it'd save me some hassle. I know it's not the primary function of ear protection, but would be rather a nice benefit. PS, I haven't intended to change the thread topic folks, PM's with opinions are fine.
5. Thanks again guys. Most helpful as usual.
6. Hiya Guys, I'm extremely fortunate enough to be having an old Columbus Jazz bass copy pretty much rebuilt by a guitar luthier friend of mine but need to some advice/direction. I'm getting a new body for it (alder), and have asked for it to be thru strung. My dilemma is with regards the tone though. I don't want to end up with a ridiculously harsh, tinny sounding bass, and dearly love the mid range punch that the Jazz is reknowned for (for slap type stuff). However, I also love a good bottom end thump (lol), but a thump that cuts through rather than gets lost, think crunch, rather than thump. I've already had fender SCN's fitted (not everyones choice maybe, but I think they sound awesome). My initial instinct was to go for the Badass III, and while I've read so many fab reviews, there is something about the new Fender HMV bridge that is tickling the fancy (it is meant to have brought the original Jazz bridge up to date, IE enhancing it). Can anyone of you fellow basschatters offer any advice? I'm not saying I want to necessarily match the original fender Jazz tone, I'd just buy a Fender Jazz for that, I just want to make sure that when I finally get what will be a beautiful bass in my hands, I haven't killed it tonally. I hope this makes sense guys. BTW, I have a 1972 precision that I love dearly, hence the thought that I'm putting into this project, it has to be right. Thx.
7. Thanks so much to you all. I've found a couple of car paints that'll do the job, but even better, I've found an Ibanez (SGWR) that has almost exactly what I want. I'll post pics of the new guitar when it's ready. Thanks again folks.
8. I was out looking at basses earlier this week, with one store having quite a wide selection of the road worn series, and I have to be honest.....They're awful!!! They look totally false and not 'aged or weathered' at all, more battered and 'bruised'. In fact, a couple of the guitars I checked out looked as though they had some kind of sticker/transfer, as opposed to genuine wear and tear. I take the point that the weathered look is extremely popular at the moment, but people, do yourselves a favour and buy a boggo Jazz or Prec and get your nearest luthier to weather it for you....it'll be cheaper and it'll look a lot more real than the roadworn effort.
9. Hiya folks, I'm in the process of having an old columbus Jazz copy ripped apart and rebuilt, but I need some help. In terms of colour, I'd love a kind of metallic white, and when I say metallic, I mean with an extremely subtle shimmer/sparkle. I've been scouring the net to find something but my searches are bearing no fruit. My Guitar Builder friend is talking with his paint supplier early next week, but I thought I'd ask on here first. Any helpwould be greatly appreciated. Drew.
10. Hiya, I've just put a set of Elixirs on my '72 precision....and pricey though they maybe, they sound excellent and a huge improvement on the D'addarios I replaced (and they were very good). I must shout out that polyweb coating too, the strings feel extremely comfortable and a lot quicker than the usual stainless crowd. They're definately worth a try if you really want something to be...mmm...different.
