New ABM owner here. EVO II 500 2 x 10 combo, dated 2006. Rescued this in a poorly state from Facebook Market place for a mere £60.

One phone call to Dave at Ashdown, and one postal delivery later, now potentiometers all round installed (two of the EQ pots had broken off at the shaft!), and a coat of car vinyl restorer product, and its as good as new!

Absolutely amazing customer service from Ashdown, who posted out ath their expense and refused to charge - so I'll make a charity donation in lieu.

Marvelous - they really are good at looking after thier customers - even when they buy a nearly 20 year old amp!  Out of interest - what Vinyl restorer did you use?    Thanks!

  2. Possibly Ashdown's most underrated amp, the 550 is an absolute monster.  As near to a valve amp as I've ever experienced - it is blooming close to the tone of my CTM300!  Basically all the same EQ and switching, with a dual valve premap but then with a SS power section.

I used this extensively last year when I was playing mainly rock and blues and absolutely loved it, but doesn't really suit my current band so much who are more pop/funk oriented and I am limited with space so tend to use small amp and IEM's so this is sitting unused.

It is well gigged and has some scuffing to the tolex, but otherwise is in very good order.  With no missing transfers and no damage to the chrome.

Reluctant sale but need to thin the herd and raise some funds.

Collection from Chelmsford, Essex or would possibly post at Buyers Cost/risk.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions - thanks for looking!

  3. Rare chance to buy an immaculate Ashdown ABM500 from 1997/1998.  I picked this up as a package with some 408 cabs last year and it hardly looks used internally or externally.  I've had it cranked up in the studio through two 408's and it sounded glorious and worked perfectly.

Amongst the very first built and Handmade in the UK - I'm loathe to let this go but I also can't bring myself to gig it incase it gets damaged and so I always fall back to my ABM600 when space allows for a big amp.  I need to downsize my amp collection and raise some funds so letting this and a few other bits go.

Collection from Chelmsford, Essex or could potentially post at Buyers Cost/Risk.

Hard to value this as there are so few about like it.  The current 25th Anniversary Reissues are £1300, so £350 for the real deal feels like a bargain 😂.  It's certainly a cut above most of the battered and bruised ABM's that you can pick up for a few hundred pounds.

Feel free to ask for more pics or details.  Thanks for looking!

That's very pretty! I've played a few of these, and they all had a bit of a neck dive issue. What's it like on a strap?

I honestly haven't had any neck dive issues with this or my other v7 or V3 5 string even on a basic webbing strap.  I find them pretty evenly balanced and comfortable to play and I gig them weekly 👍

  5. Really reluctant sale of this bass, but I currently have four 5-string Jazz styles basses and I have my eye on a Musicman 5 so trying to raise some funds!

This has one of the nicest 2 piece Swamp Ash bodies I have seen on a Sire - almost impossible to see the join unless you look at the end grain.  Really excellent condition as can be seen on the pics.  If there's any marks/dents I certainly can't find them! Only real sign of use is that the pick up cover was fitted at some point and has left some holes in the pick guard, but unfortunately I don't have the cover to fit back on.

When I got the bass the preamp had some issues so I purchased a new one from Andertons and put that in.   While I was at it I also fitted a decent Switchcraft socket as the Sire ones are a weak link I think.

The bass also had a clear perspex ramp fitted between the pickups which is a nice Mod but easily removed if needed.

Strings could probably do with a change but have some life left.  Medium-low action at the moment.

Ideally Pick up from Chelmsford, Essex, but I do have a box and will post at Buyers cost/risk.

    £375

  6. I tried it out at an Audition last night - seriously impressed!!   Can see this getting a lot of use!

I'm not far from Ashdown HQ and they have been really helpful in the past, so will pop down with it in the New Year and see what info they can give me.  Was just hoping someone eagle-eyed might know what the drivers were to satisfy my curiosity in the meantime 😁

  7. Hi All,

I picked up what I believe is a prototype Ashdown OR210 cab.  It didn't go into production as they went with with 110's instead.   Hopefully ideal for my OriginAL 500 head as a small practice/gig rig.

What I am trying to work out is what drivers are fitted to it.   I took them out and the only markings are hand written labels that say HM 210 4B 8ohm.

Does anyone have any idea what they might be?

    Thanks in advance!!
