Wow, what a great looking Spector bass from the good old times when they used solid maple wings (instead of the alder/walnut/maple sandwich, apart from the solid white and black ones that also have solid maple wings). Just look at the grain! Cool stuff. Just a shame that I see it after having ordered a custom Forte and with shipping costs, VAT and customs, I just cannot pull the trigger 😞

Wow, cool looking bass. I think it is worth mentioning that this bass is pretty much brand new as Spector showcased the new b&B finish at Winter NAMM for the first time and it only got available in the UK very recently. Great bargain!

That'll have a disastrous resale value if you had to move it on at some point....
Agree, there are only so many squid lovers out there 😎

BTW, just saw this on the BD website. What do you think? Could work well in a metal band (esp. with the Darkglass TC)

Do you guys know what used Spector NS-2 Doug Wimbish models usually go for ?
I was offered a black stain matte one with a beautiful quilted maple top, pau ferro fretboard, EMG/HAZ equipped made in 2019 so no Stuart Spector signature for 3400 EUR.3400 EUR sounds about right. Spector NS-2s aren't cheap. However, if you are happy with a matte finish you may want to consider a Forte. They come with matte finishes and cost around £3k new (BD currently has one for £2,999.00). They normally don't come with maple or (premium buckeye or walnut) burl tops like the NS2 does (although I have seen some online: flame maple over sycamore and sycamore over redwood). Fortes normally come with solid wings, usually swamp ash but alder and black walnut are options too (and I have also seen a gorgeous Forte with solid maple wings. Probably expensive though as solid quilted maple wings cost at least $1,499.00 extra for a NS-2). However, swamp ash has recently been replaced with paulownia wood due to the swamp ash crisis, which is affecting many builders. That's why the EBMM Stingray special is not available in a natural finish anymore and the new Fender American Professional II Jazz bass will come in roasted pine. You can specify the specs for your custom Forte and for example order it with a thin neck (like I did) and EMG PJX pickups and the Haz 9V (to create a no-frills NS-2) or with EMG 35DCX and the Haz 18V (to create a no-frills NS-4). By "no-frills" I mean that you won't get a gloss finish (costs at least $899.99 extra for a NS-2. The standard package comes with a matte finish) and also no inlays (although I have seen Fortes with a 12th fret Spector logo). So, Fortes are in a sense NS-2s and 4s without the bling 😎

“Dark knight” sounds cool to me. Maybe a stealth version or something that looks like the Duff McKagan bass (without the painted neck)?
Well, "dark knight" is actually "dark night" and not a stealth/all black bass at all. Turns out to be a metallic blue one with a black pickguard 😒
Speaking of an all black bass, I am still tempting by this one that ticks a lot of boxes. Just a shame it is called "surveyor"

The links I posted earlier today are not working anymore. I guess the store has realised now that it is not a good idea to showcase the basses before they even have been officially launched 😎

Well it's like they wont take no for an answer, the bass is boxed up ready to return and now they want the serial number so they can order a certificate then post out to me but could take weeks..i don't want the f in thing...i've told them that, fed up repeating myself on the phone and emails that never get answered 🤬😡👎
Sorry to read about the poor "service" you are getting, @Dov65 Sounds really terrible. I would call them and tell them that enough is enough and that you are passing it over to your lawyers now (and yes, these lawyers are real ;- )
Good luck 👍

A week on and most of the "epic deals" are gone. Hope everyone who got one is happy with it 🙂
Looks like only a Legend 5NT and a fretless Spectorcore are still available.
Interestingly, the Rebop 5MM is listed as a "summer price drop". The price drop? 6 quid. Really? Is that even worth being labelled as a "summer price drop"? I know this summer was not great but 6 quid? 🥴
They also still list the new Spector LT with Fishman pickups and preamp in black fade gloss finish for £2,719.00. I know it is a limited edition and only 20 were made but this is a crazy price. BD sold the same bass for £2,299.00. So, I guess Andertons will struggle finding someone paying that much for a Euro. Well, good luck with that 👍

Great idea. I like red and black basses, satin necks that are wide and shallow, sleek and original designs, clear lines, curved bodies, basses with some punch, growl and oomph, 2 and 2 headstocks, and neck throughs

This never-ending list of things that put us off is starting to put me off playing bass 😉
@stewblack - as you started it all, I think it would only be fair for you to start a new topic now - What makes us happy or even delights us 😍 C'mon, we need some good news in these dark times 🤩

I understand. You have some really great Spector basses. I hope they will find a good home and I have to ask my wife to hide my credit card to be on the safe side 😉

To be honest Mick I'm wavering on keeping it.
Pretty unique as a Jazz with Tonepump, certainly a different voice from my other Spector basses.
I'd forgot how good this was until I took it out the case!......
I hope you do the right thing and only sell a Spector bass to buy another one. That's my credo 😎

Cool how the finish changes depending on the light!

Amazing top. Wow. They don’t make them like that anymore. Cannot stop looking at it but must resist, already bought too many Spectors this year.

Having recently been looking at basses in the last few weeks, I will now add PJ style basses to my what puts me off list. To me, and I have never played one, they are neither P or J and are therefore wrong.
PJ basses are sometimes called "best of both world" basses. Well, in my view, they are not the best of both worlds but the best of the P bass world. Assuming the P pickup is in the sweet spot, you get a P bass AND some additional J bass honk/burp if want it. That definitely gives you some more versatility. Cool with that. However, the PJ bass will never give you a true J bass as it lacks the other J bass single coil pickup for that. Maybe the best of both worlds bass is really this one. Discuss! 😎

I gad a Spector A few tears ago Ns2000 or legend, bolt on neck, wasnt too impressed, it felt too rattle’y and thin but muddy sounding at the same time, no warmth or real sustain. But it had a bit loose machine heads that i could not get tighter and not shaw the bolts on the neck where up to much.
Heard the Neck through are a different kettle of fish along with the Aquilar pick ups. Hope this blows my mind and lives up to the Spector hype. Should be here Thursday.
The NT really are a different kettle of fish. Excellent basses with great quality components. I only sold mine as the nut width on the Legends is a bit too narrow for my taste. The bass was also a bit heavy, due to the maple wings I guess.
Hope the bass arrives safely on Thursday!
