1.
I've just checked with voxpop (next on the list after me) and he has asked me to remove him from the list so I guess that if no one has any major objections, I can pass it on to Stingrayfan.
2.
sh*t! my bad, with everything that has gone on I completely forgot!

A thousand apologies for holding the line up :)
Happy to take this after PhilTheBassist. Not gigging till December, so that might work?

  3. Bit of a soul destroying one at a south London pub last night. Big pub, half empty - no atmos. Even The Beatles would have struggled. Wondered half-way through if it had been worth putting the stuff in the car!

On the upside, had a great sound (G&L and Hartke amp working really well together), we played well (did some great locking in the with the drummer) and we got compliments afterwards including from another bassist. :)

But last time for that venue, me thinks....

  4.
That's what me and Walman said! And it plays like a dream too...
It's sublime to play. If I had the spare cash etc etc.....
MB1. :)
....More Decking spotted in Portsmouth!

  5.
I need to get 16 people (14 musicians and 2 sound guys/crew) instruments and PA/lighting rig etc to Germany and back in one piece.
:)
    Good luck with that one...!
Double your normal fee I'd say - if everyone's on double bubble, they'll be happy!

  6.
Also, the drummer does not drive and does not have a drum kit and so, in the past, we have had to hire a drum kit when headlining or rehearsing somewhere with no kit.
He's committed to the band though - he's bought his own sticks! :)

Walk away. It doesn't sound like much fun.

  7. The Rumble 100s are great, I used to have one and would recommend them.

If you're only going to ever do rehearsals and maybe a gig with a quiet drummer, it'll do fine. But you may be better off thinking of something with a bit more juice. You may not use it now but you will in the future and it will save you losing money in the long run.

See if you can find a s/h Trace Elliot 1x15 - that will cover you for mose situations I reckon. Mine's great for most pub gigs.

  8. Normally I try to look like I'm enjoying it, even when I'm not but we did a charity gig recently, a 20 min thing, and our guitarist kept turning himself to ear bleeding levels and drowning out the drums. I had a face on.

Band after us (classic rock covers, frontman in a stonewashed demin jacket w/mullet) says "you lot look like you were just going through the motions....".

    Cheers!

They were crap. And too loud. :)

  9. Bier Keller, Bracknell - pain of a staircase down to the basement.

Played there on and off for two years before someone mentioned they have a goods lift (in the kitchen). Still a pain in the arts to get/out of that venue. Wouldn't recommend the place, it's a bit "desperate housewives".

  10. Well done silverfoxnik et al for organising today's bash. Good to see a few familiar faces and try out some great gear.

I arrived not wanting anything...and left thinking about getting one of Alex's Barefaced cabs. Damn you Basschat! :)

Enjoyed playing the Wals and Clarky's Shuker P Bass...

    ...and the drum kit!

    Good work.

  11. Lug PA from car, try to get everything set up quickly to allow time to sit down and slug down a bottle of beer before starting!

Guitarist always needs a slash, drummer always late because he's getting six pints of water.

  12. Been listening to The Beatles - Rubber Soul after stumbling upon it again. Had forgotten how good some of the basslines are on that - esp Drive My Car, The Word and You Won't See Me.

Macca was on fire on some of the tracks on that album..worth digging out if you haven't listened to it for a while.
