    Congrats on the new bass.

I presume the pick up is a  Delano?  If so, how are you finding it?

    Thanks 🙏

The pick up is Sandberg's own power split coil. Sounds fantastic in passive and active.

  2. I like the look of these, but honestly the pricing is quite a bit above HB offering of similar spec, ime JB-62C for example..

I'm interested to see if they are worth double a Harley Benton JB-62 or 50% more than the 35th anniversary edition.

These basses retail around £350 give or take.

Anyone took the plunge and bought one?

We are now only going out on zoom. However, I think a PTZ camera we could mount under the balcony would tidy things up. I am more than aware that I could easily spend 4 figures and up on one, but the reality is we are doing absolutely fine with phone or iPod cameras on tripods so do not need the greatest doobrie in the world. Any real world suggestions? Spending under 300 would be great. Ta.

I know my old church was basically using tripod mounted DSLR cameras for this.. worked well and really decent quality. Not as optimal as a PTZ camera, but it's another route.

Yes, i am aware of that, but i have had or played basses around the same price point that were better.. i went for the HB cuz it's all i can afford right now, but the second hand market might be a better option..

I have compared to a Squier CV60S & yes it is a tiny bit chunkier but by a hair.. like U can't see it, but feel it slightly...

Fair play, I have also had the same thoughts... I think the thing with this model is that it sits in between some better value models... A bit more money gets you Gotah tuners for example..  like I say QC at this price point can very variable. I think overall though HB stuff is awesome value for money.

Out of interest what was the cheaper bass you played that was better?

Well.. i am thinking about sending it back.. it is actually really neck heavy & dives a lot which is a PITA when playing through long practice sessions, the fret ends are pretty sharp & make playing really uncomfortable, and there are bits of stuff sealed into the neck finish that i can feel while playing.. IDK. I'll play it some more tomorrow but yeah i think i am done trying with Thomann...

I'm also returning mine, needs fret levelling. It's neck divey but you know for the price you can't expect the same level of QC or components as Fender or Sire et al.

Sometimes you will get a duffer most often it will be fine. I'm not complaining about neck dive ast these prices points.

The only drawback is the weight. It isn't light. As I say not a problem for me given how well it balances but I know that is a major consideration for others

Something that can be mitigated to some extent with a well padded strap.

Ok so you can see some of the cost saving elements but that neck looks great and overall looks wise at least it seems really good! These should prove popular if they sound as good as they look!

At least the strings stay on the neck and line up with the pick-up which is better than some people can manage.

Mentioning no names... Cough.. Gold Foil Cough Cough....

I've just had a preliminary noodle after inspecting for any marks or holes.

It's really very good indeed. Set up to my tastes and in tune out of the box, it plays like a dream.

I don't worry myself about the weight of instruments, so have not the means to scientifically measure this aspect. However, it feels about the same as my HB Enhanced Jazz. Too heavy for some of you, no doubt. I have to say that the balance is perfect, and with a wide strap it felt fine to me.

The versatility of sound is the first thing I noticed. With the pick up selector in the middle and tone similarly set to neutral we have a pleasant middley kind of sound. Not nasal, warmer than that, but the kind of noise which is nicely audible in most band situations.

Just nudge it towards the P pup and hang on tight - this beast can roar. It's a really powerful, and rounded Precision sound, fair leaps out at you.

Dial it back to the MM pup and you have that classic funky freshness. Lighter, jaunty and altogether more musical.

The active treble and bass controls are responsive and very hot. This needs to go into the active input unless you really want to drive the gain stage.

The most important thing is of course how it looks. It's bloody gorgeous. Firemist is a wonderful marketing term for the deep golden copper colour. The black binding and pickguard compliment it in quite a classy way - but that is purely subjective. As the kids say, your mileage etc etc. The neck is a lovely hunk of wood, and the whole ensemble looks and feels good to me.

    This concludes my first impressions.

    Pics, Pics ..... 🙏

Man.. i purchased a JB-62CC yesterday, parcel is being sent out to me today, and after seeing LowEndLobster's review & these comments online... i am seriously second-guessing my choice.. fingers crossed...

I think low end lobster was maybe a little bit harsh, I have a shell pink one and maybe I was a bit unlucky. I think I will return it and maybe get the 25th anniversary. Depending of Stews experience

    Is it tomorrow yet?

Can you send us the tracking ID so we know when it arrives 😂😂

But seriously, I am considering buying this bass but I am interested to see their approach in terms QC and materials selection, the JB62 I bought is ok, but has some uneven frets and what appears to be a bow in the neck higher up towards these things combined are preventing me from the action where I would like it.

The big thing I'm interested in is the weight... My JB62 weighed in at over 4kg which for a poplar body is on the heavy side, as the 25th anniversary firemist is American alder I am concerned it could be heavier!.

I shall reserve judgement until I have given it a good go. But hopefully I get on ok with it.

I'm genuinely intrigued to see what this one is like. It's by far the most expensive HB I've ever bought - will that affect my judgement I wonder?

    When does the Eagle land?

Will do. fwiw my MV-4P/J with the Gotohs is 9lb 14oz.

I'm tempted to get a second in oly white and string it with roundwounds 🙂

9lbs 14oz approx 4.4kg that's not bad at all considering it is an Alder body, very close to the weight of some of the Poplar models!

The MB4 comes with very mediocre strings, rough as a badgers backside and flat as witches tit audibly.

Fitted some Harley Benton Value strings (Orange silks) and a total night and day difference, it really comes to life.

.....those Harley Benton Value strings are really very good, don't buy anything else now, I wonder whom is making them😎

That's what I used, orange silk ones. I have a set of HB flats to try too.

I also really like Rotosounds Billy Sheehan's, they were very reasonably priced too ~£17 if I recall, the E string lends it's self well to drop D tuning.
