The little switch is a ‘slap’ switch, when activated it scoops the mids to produce a sound, that Fender says, is perfect for slapping. I don’t slap so I won’t be using it myself 😁

I slap... and I never liked 'slap switches'
Maybe you can rewire it and turn the switch into a parallel/series switch. Jazz pickups in series are a seriously nice option to have.
