Hi, I have two sets of flatwound stings that I am not using, so they are looking for a new home. These have been taken of Pbasses that I had previously bought. I wasn't sure what these strings are, but I have asked people on this forum for help and we have identified them as Thomastik and Adagio. I have tried the set of Thomastiks briefly and they are indeed low tension. I am not sure how old they are, but they seem to be in a very good condition. They were installed on basses with vintage bridges, so they were strung through the bridge. I can measure the length if you need. They will come in generic packaging. The first 3 photos are Thomastiks (now sold), the other two - Adagios. £8 for Adagio posted in the UK. Thanks for looking!

I purchased this pickup from Mark at Limelight (Classic & Cool Guitars) about a few weeks ago. There is a lot of information about Limelight Basses on this forum, and they have an excellent reputation. They make their pickups, and these come stock on Precision Bass guitars they make. These have Alnico 5 magnets, and they are quite vintage in tone. Even though they look very modest, a lot of people on this forum rave about their sound. I think they sound great, definitely vintage with a slightly higher output (not overwound, though). I would describe them as full, clean, and very punchy. These Limelight pickups have a lot of bark with rounds and are great with flats as well. I have installed them on a bass with a solderless harness, so they have never been soldered on. For the sake of transparency, both wires are a bit short, but this is the way they came from Limelight. You can still install them on a P-type bass, no problem. I have bought them for a project, but I am no longer doing the project bass, so these can go to a happy home. Thanks for looking!

Selling my Boss OC-2 in very good condition, no box. All controls work as they should. There are some scratches and nicks on the case but nothing too crazy. I would say that overall it's fairly clean. The rubber washer inside is intact. The battery thingy is slightly bent, you can see that on the photo. Classic OC-2 sound, lovely analog octave. Just not getting used and needs a better home.

I am selling Precision bass pickups that came from a Nate Mendel Signature Precision Bass. From what I understand, these are Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups that are aged at the factory. These definitely have the aged look, simple black covers with no logos. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups (SPB-3) are pretty popular, especially if you are playing rock with a pick and overdrive – they do cut through the mix. I usually prefer mellower vintage tones, but I must admit that for heavier playing, these are great. To my ears, they sound better if you put them as low as they go – they almost sound like vintage pickups but push a lot of air and shine with overdrive. They come with covers and foam that was on them when I took them out of mine NM bass. You will need to solder the black cable to the second coil – this came off when I put the pickup in a box. £50 posted in the UK Thanks for looking!

Best place to find people to play with
realmasslove replied to realmasslove's topic in Bassists Available
Thanks, Jack! This is a great piece of advice, I will have a look at those websites above. And no, I am not English -
Hi, I am not sure if this is the right section to post this, but what are the best places online (or offline?) to find people to play with? I have moved into London and looking to join a band. I know that there are some ads on this forum, but can anyone recommend other websites if it's allowed on here? Thanks, Seva

Thanks! Are these Adagio flats on this photo? If so, then they look awfully similar - darker red, smooth strings. -
No idea, it might have been, of course. I still tend to think that it was due to a lot of thick string on the post. The LaBellas are perfect in this regard. On your bass, if you have the intonation perfect (check the open E string and the E on the 12th fret), try fretting an F on the first fret and check on your tuner whether you are getting a perfect pitch. Mine wasn't even close.

Please help identifying these flats

Thanks for your help! I didn't know about the coloured ends on the Rotos, I have seen pictures without them. Hmm... -
Hi, I need your help. I have two sets of flatwound strings that came with the basses I had bought, but I have no idea what they are. They both have red silk on both ends, however the string on the right is a darker red (burgundy? not sure). It's hard to capture the exact colour with my phone. Also, the string on the right is completely smooth, where as the one on the left is more coarse. From the research I have done, the one on the left looks like a Rotosound or a Thomastik string. The one on the right - not sure. Maybe someone can help Thanks!

The fender flats are great strings. However, on my JMJ mustang I haven't been able to intonate the E string no matter what I did. The main reason is because they are long scale and the string is too thick. All other strings (A, D, G) were fine. In my opinion, the LaBella set for the Mustang bass is the perfect match. A lot of people say Chromes work as well, but I haven't tried them. Good luck!

Hi, I have two flatwound string sets for sale. They have been installed on my JMJ Mustang through the body, they will fit a short or medium scale bass (the E sting is about 96.5 cm). I can measure the rest of the strings if needed. The Fenders are the 9050L flats (0.45 - 100) that the bass comes with. I haven't really played them much, replaced them almost immediately for different stings. The GHS are Precision Flats 3120 Lights (45-95). These were installed on the same JMJ bass and cut for this bass. I have tried them and took them off, so they are basically new. Again, same thing - the E string is about 96.5 cm. The GHS will come in original packaging, the Fenders don't have any packaging. £13 posted in the UK Thanks for looking!
