  1. Yes, i am aware of that, but i have had or played basses around the same price point that were better.. i went for the HB cuz it's all i can afford right now, but the second hand market might be a better option.. I have compared to a Squier CV60S & yes it is a tiny bit chunkier but by a hair.. like U can't see it, but feel it slightly...
  2. Well.. i am thinking about sending it back.. it is actually really neck heavy & dives a lot which is a PITA when playing through long practice sessions, the fret ends are pretty sharp & make playing really uncomfortable, and there are bits of stuff sealed into the neck finish that i can feel while playing.. IDK. I'll play it some more tomorrow but yeah i think i am done trying with Thomann...
  3. Yeah! Got mine today! Really cool... lighter than my Harley Benton MV-4MSB & a tiny bit heavier than the CV60s JB that i have now on sale locally... Pretty noisy so i will have to shield at some point, but other than that, i like it. It does neck dive a little but i can live with it... I went for the white one with mint PG but would like to get a dark red/brownish tort PG in the future. If anyone here wants to swap.. i live in Spain, but i have a friend who flies back pretty often.
  4. 2023 bump!! I used to own an RMI Quantum Dominic Di Piazza Signature 6 string.. even wrote a NBD article on here: Actually, he told me the other day he still had one bass in stock. I am not in a position to buy anything right now.. but i highly recommend his basses & would order one to my specs if i could... Here are the specs of the bass: Translucent aqua burst high-gloss polyester finish Pearloid fretboard inlays Deeply inset bolt-on construction (7 bolts) with recessed neck heel for unhindered playing Slim 35mm deep semi-chambered, stepped-level body (for lowest action) 3-piece wedge body construction (hard maple centre / Vietnamese walnut / pink mahogany) Exotic poplar birdseye top 24 medium-gauge frets 33" scale 16.5mm string spacing at the bridge 43mm nut width Flat rosewood fretboard (no radius / like classical guitar) Apex scarf neck construction (3-piece hard ash, hard maple, nato mahogany) Maximum-stability U channel Martin-style truss rod + 2x KTS titanium reinforcement bars (Japan) RMI dual-coil humbucking CNC-wound pickups in wooden shells (poplar birdseye / maple) Mini 3-way coil selection switch per pickup: parallel, single-coil, in series Preamp (9v) with 3-band EQ + pull / push for passive / active switch on Volume control Hipshot A-style brass bridge Hipshot Ultralight Y-key aluminium tuners Weight is around 4Kg (based on the 3.8kg verified weight of the earlier model)
  5. Man.. i purchased a JB-62CC yesterday, parcel is being sent out to me today, and after seeing LowEndLobster's review & these comments online... i am seriously second-guessing my choice.. fingers crossed...
  6. Hey there! Have U considered staining it? There is some nice grain in that wood. There is probably something that can be done to make it pop some more & then staining the wood purple or green or close to black if that's what U're after.. There is a guy on TB who has done that & has shared pics of his basses quite a few times & they look stunning..
  7. Yeah reach out to Thomann & say U don't mind keeping the bass if they give U a discount. 4,14kg is pretty heavy still... hmmm..
  8. Hello everyone! Any news from those of U who did buy this model? I am thinking of getting one as it's what i can afford right now! Unless...
  9. Cool!! Let us know how U like it when U get it! Ah and also: how heavy is it? Hehe
  10. There is one here in Spain for sale on the second hand market, the seller is Bass Advisor from Youtube, he bought it to review it & is offering it up for sale for a few days in case someone is interested, before eventually sending it back to Thomann. He states that the weight is 4,57kg
  11. Well, he didn't use swearwords or anything, but instead of phrasing it "we regret to inform you that it is not commercially viable for us to offer discounts on new products balblabla" he said "there is no way you are getting a discount". I also asked a couple of other questions about why some products were not showing on their website anymore, & the same super dry phrasing was used. I understand that written messages don't give U access to intonation or body language cues, and that this guy might actually be starting in the Customer Service department, but yeah there was no other way of understanding that email. I have interacted with German people before & they aren't what Hollywood shows in movies lol.. Ok! That right there!! That is the solution! I believe i have some underwear with the old Batman logo somewhere!! Lol
  12. Yeah try that! The other day i saw on IG how a young parisian lady who had picked up playing bass during Covid was being sent Fender basses now. I have bought a bunch of stuff from Thomann over the years, currently own only a HB gtr & a HB bass, & am on a very tight budget.. so i thought that maybe, asking politely & reminding them of my client history with them, i could ask for & get a 15% discount on a JP-45OP that i wanted. They replied in a very rude manner. So, here is what i am doing: i release videos on IG & TikTok every day, playing my HB MV-4MSB, but don't tag them anymore, don't mention the brand, keep the headstock out of the frame. My circumstances are not going to stop me from making music, so i'll keep playing my HB gear, but there is no way i am going to be used to advertise Thomann & their in-house brands. I am actually thinking of getting stickers to put on the headstocks. Any idea of what kind of stickers i could use without damaging the finish of the instruments? Things that could easily be removed if needed?
  13. And i believe my Harley Benton MV-4MSB is 4.1kg IIRC
  14. Aaah great! Thanks! Glad to hear U like it! I ordered a JP-45OP today in the end, so a JB62 will have to wait for now..
  15. But are you guys talking specifically about the JB-62CC? The body is made of poplar.. isn't that supposed to be lighter?
  16. Whoa that's beautiful! Can we see pics of the damaged parts in those basses? The one from june 2021 ans this one ? Can U tell us a bit more about how they play/feel/sound etc?
  17. Hey there! Has this bass been sold yet?
  18. I have a green one on the way. Bought second hand with money i don't have. It has Seymour Duncan SPB-3 pickups.. can't wait...
  19. Oh whoaaa!! Love it! Would love to own one of those!
  20. I have owned & sold: - Harley Benton Acoustic Fretless 5 (sold 2011) - Harley Benton BZ-6000, (sold June 2020), - Harley Benton E-1335 II sunburst (gtr) - Harley Benton JB-75MN Black Vintage Series (sold October 2020) - Harley Benton CST-24HB (sold January 2022) (gtr) - Harley Benton PB-20 SBK (for sale @ my mother's) - Harley Benton HB-35 Plus - Metallic Blue (Sold August 2022) (gtr) All good instruments. I have been buying and selling over the past few years, trying stuff. Granted i never really dared modifying my instruments past new strings, a set up & sometimes adding little visual elements to them. I havent kept pics on my phone but i have a bunch of videos on my "artist page" on Fb: neillien. There U can see the basses, hear them & make fun of my playing ;°P I am usually broke so i can't keep instruments if i want to invest in smthg else. But i trust Harley Benton. In fact the one thag left yesterday just funded the gtr that should arrive on Monday... Ah also: same thing for me: i didn't know that basses needed to go through a set up to have them the way U want. My first bass was a Cort Action Bass and i almost quit playing because of how physically unpleasant & difficult it was to fight the instrument. So if U are gonna sell an instrument to a beginner, SOME set up should be done before shipping & i think it should indeed be mentioned in reviews so that people documenting themselves on their next purchases know what to expect & can anticipate either the costs of having a professional set up done, or teaching themselves how to do it.... the air conditioning blades comparison does not work here.
  21. Here is mine! Bad fretsprout on both sides of the neck, but otherwise perfect. Selling my U5 now that this one is here!!
  22. Mine has changed quite a lot.. this is what is left... Super minimalist approach....
  23. I currently only own a Sire U5. 😱😱😱
  24. Yeah... i might ask for more pics.. the bass is in Bilbao and i am near Seville... didn't know about "resinator" fingerboards!! Thanks for the info! The asking price is 350€.. which is the cheapest i have ever seen any of those.. and i would have to sell my CV Mustang for this bass... One thing that i noticed is that last week that bass was marked as "reserved" which would mean that someone already went there, tried it & didn't buy, or someone bought it and shipped it back... which is something you can do through the second hand app that's popular here, as long as it is within 48 hrs of recieving the parcel.. The fact that is was "reserved" for a few days, & then back on the market doesn't look good, does it? Mmmmh... 😔
