1. That rocks - I hope it plays as well as it looks! Superb!
2. The zoom H2 arrived here last week - I've yet to try it with a band but initial tests suggests that it does just what it's supposed to - high quality recordings and easy to use. I'm looking forward to experimenting with the 3d - 4 channel channel recording wihch looks to be really simple- just add press the button to add the rear mic's (should be good for getting some crowd noise at live recordings). If you don't want to add external mics vai xlr then the h2 is perfect for quick and easy recordings. Cheers John

4. IN the fx loop will probably work best. The signal from your bass will probably be too quiet and need a preamp before the dbx Cheers John
5.
Just wondered if anyone knows what make bass in this video - looks pretty cool to me!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcmH1LdPNKA
Agreed - I'd buy one. I think it's a Robin - wich would make sense as the band were from Texas http://www.robinguitars.com/ToddPipes.html Cheers John
6. Superb. Headless, Stein style body, 2 necks, fretless and fretted - pretty much ticks al the boxes :-) Being an old prog fanboy I love double necks - I'm just in the middle of making my 2nd double necked guitar and I toying with a double neck bass as next years project. Do you gig it?

active?

Hi, Anyone care to chip in with an opinion on what I stand to gain by fitting a preamp to my Geddy Lee Jazz. (or why I shouldn't?) It seems to me that the gain and eq on the amp can be adjusted to get the tones I want but perhaps there's an advantage I'm missing? Cheers John
8.
I have a PODxt (the red/guitar version) with Bass, Fx Junkie, Metal and Collector Classic expansions. I really like it. I actually prefer it to the Bass PODxt (aka BOD). The main reason is that (AFIK) the Bass pod is mono with biamp (or DI and Model out). The PODxt is stereo. Apart from the different connectivity, a PODxt+bass expansion is like a BOD. But... the PODxt is also an excellent MultiFx for guitar. Regardless if you use BODxt or PODxt+BE, they aren't the simplest units to program. I use the PC editor and it does help to sort out the varius preset and program the sounds. It is not difficult to get good sounds out of it but equaly is is very easy to get bad sounds.
Hi, Thanks for that - confirms what i was thinking. I really like the pod (I've got an xt pro in my guitar live rack and an xt in the studio) so I'll probably do the upgrade. Cheers John

Which do you use?

Hi. When I play guitar I have a fairly comprehensive rack set up, but for bass I'm just going straight to the amp. I don't feel the urgent need for any exotic sounds but I do wonder if I'm missing something - or maybe I just need to justify buying more toys... Anyway, I would be very interested to see what sort of set up you are generally using for gigging, band rehearsals etc. Thanks John

New here

Welcome aboard D
12. I don't see why not, unless there's something specific to the particular gear your talking about. A pitch shifter will usually track better with a clean signal so you would put it early in the signal chain, or take a spilt and combine the signal s later. Is there a particular piece of gear you're referring to?

Warwick profet?

Thanks for the reply, I've seem the 5.1 going for £250 which would seem to be a bit of a bargain for a 500W head if the specs are realistic and the tone and reliability are good. Cheers John
15. Hi, As I consider various options for a new head, I've some the Warwick range going for what seem to be good prices for the spec. I'd appreciate any thoughts from anyone using one? I guess the 3.2 isn't loud enough for bigger gigs and the 5.1 would be more useful? Thanks John

Finished!

Try this... http://www.youtube.com/v/UgPr4HVmz8s Looks great btw
19. Hi - some thoughts... I'd double check to the earth connection of the P p/up - have you got a meter of some kind? I'd be interested to check that the pot goes from 0 - 250kohms. For some reason turning down that pot isn't making a complete short circuit as you would expect it to, so assuming the signal comes through it would suggest the earth connections aren't perfect. Keep me updated and I'll try to help if I can - shame you're so far away, I'm sure it's something simple we could sort while the kettle boils...
20. Played both more or less since I started (many years ago), seem to collect more guitars and guitar gear than bass for some reason. I'm gigging pretty regularly in 2 bands playing guitar and 1 playing bass. I suit guitar more when the songs are more rocky and bass when it's more poppy - if I'm playing bass in a rock band I often gets frustrated/critical of the guitarist, whereas when it's something less rock - R n B / Soul etc I prefer playing bass.

bbe opto stomp

I'm annoyed I didn't buy one last week when they were only £45, but I think I'm going for a rack rather than pedal setup now so it's not the end of the world. Cheers John
22. Anyone? or do the pod users stick to the dedicated bass version?

The price has now gone up - these were on offer last week... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=011 Cheers John
24. Hi, I've got a pod xt pro and I was thinking of adding the bass model pack to it. Seems like an easy way to get the bass amp models and fx. Has anyone tried it? Any issues that I should be aware of? I've already got the other model packs so I'm ok with the upgrade process - it's more the sounds I'm curious about. Thanks John
25. The combined impedance will indeed be 2.67ohms, so you'll be getting fairly close to the rated 500W out of the amp. The new combined lower impedance just means more current will flow out of the amp so if you use the same settings, then there won't be any "easing" on the existing speaker - however you might find that you now have the volume turned down a little so it will help in that respect. The current will shared between the 2 cabs and normally one would use the same impedance cabs so that they get an equal shared, in this case the ampeg will get approx 57% and the ashdown 43% of the current - not a huge difference. The sensitivity of the speakers will be more significant in dictating which cab appears louder, but as I assume the ashdown speakers are more sensitive I guess you find them pretty evenly matched. Sounds like a nice addition to the original amp :-)
