1. Anyone heard of Sam Simms? This is him playing on Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope Tour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWJrIJym43c
2. Come to think of it, I havent seen footage of JJ outside of a tux or shirt and tie! But great footage of the bass master, though off topic I was shocked when on another thread on this forum, people were posing the question 'who is James Jamerson'? Is it me or something is awfully amiss?
3. I dont know who played on this particular track between Ray Brown, Wilton Felder and Chuck Rainey (I think its Rainey) but the groove is awesome IMHO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA5JJ5Qcxa8
4.
Hello! New on the forum and have just searched around a little bit to fins whereabouts you should go nowadays in London. I didn´t fins anything i didn´t already know about when searching so sorry for starting a thread you probably think you have read a billion times..! I´m from Sweden and I´m going to London this weekend and will be staying til wednesday. Last time in London it was of course Bass Centre, wich were really nice when they were in Wapping, didn´t go to London after they moved though. So. I´m just looking to find out where you can find something fun to look at, test. I´m in the market for a Orange Terror Bass but its probably easier to just order one from soundslive directly to Sweden. The Gallery is a must, and even thoough you all seem to hate Bass Cellar, I will go there anyway... Vintage and rare on Denmark St is also one of the shops I know about and will visit. Is there any other stores in central London worth a visit? Looking manily for a lightweight amp since my Sunn 300T only will be used on gigs from now on. But used pedals and such is also interesting. Is there any shops, any bigger shops? Regards Johan
You could try Digital Village in Romford. Not Central London at all (East London) but they have a fair amount of basses in stock you can try out.
5. Hello All, Could someone please recommend where one can go to learn how to read and write music. I have been playing for quite a while now and I think I play competently well by ear but I am reluctant to carry on down this route as I understand the need and the importance to know how to read and write, only danger is that I dont know who and where to turn to for help but thank God for Basschat, I am sure somebody knows someone who can assist a brother.. Cheers
6. Hie there all, I am looking for a DB tutor in the South East area of London. I have NEVER played the instrument before and I consider myself to be an electric bass player though I want to play the DB as well. Anyone know of any great tutors in and around the aforementioned area? Thanks in advance
7. Bass - EBS MultiComp - EBS MultiDrive - SansAmp Para Driver - EBS Octabass - EBS IQ (Envelope). I think that would work as well but EXPERIMENTATION is the key!
8. Hie All, I have a problem with my Marcus Miller Jazz Bass IV. When plugged into the amp, it has a certain degree of noise and when the cable moves theres a crackling noise as well. Its not a cheap cable but it has created some concern for me. Does anyone know what the prob could be, I read a post in the other topic to do with hum and buzzing and it explained that Fender guitars will, because of the single coil have some tolerable level of noise. But I wonder whether this in normal. Thanks in advance, Greg
9. Okay, well thanks for the consideration...far it is.....

12. I am takin it very seriously and I think the budget would be £2500, but if you have any recommendations I would be glad to listen to any advice... Thanks a million..
13. I have been looking on the market for a double bass to purchase and I have come across the Stentor Range, in particular the Conservatorie series appealed to me. But before I make the financial committment I would love to get a valued second and even 3rd opinion from those that have been in this long enough to know the difference between a good and crappy double bass. Thank you in advance, Greg Adams
14. Thanks mate, I really appreciate the info I will get on with it. Thanks again

17. Hey I have a question which has been nagging me over the last days. I watched Babyface 'Unplugged' '97 and Nathan East was on acoustic bass I am sure the bass was a Yamaha model and the sound was juss phenomenal to say the least, I attempted to Google Yamaha Acoustic Basses but wasnt successful. Does anybody know whether they do make acoustic basses or could suggest good sounding acoustic basses. I have heard about Micheal Kelly Acoustic Basses but would really love a second opinion. Thank You
18. Correct me if I am wrong but are you saying Stanley Clarke is not a great jazz bassplayer, as far as you're concerned?
19. Thanks Gary, If theres anything I need to know please let me know Cheers
