I'm really liking the V7 so far. Had the weekend to play with it and it feels and plays wonderfully. Everything about it screams quality, which at the price-point, is something else. You'd be looking at US made Fenders for anything of a similar offering.
I should have ordered a set of flatwounds, however. The D'addarios are ridiculously light gauge and tinny. Not my thing at all.
The only thing that has been bugging me - and it is purely aesthetics - is I'm starting to think I should have gone for the white finish 🙈 Don't get me wrong... The burst finish is stunning, but this is not my third guitar in burst, and I am seriously deliberating whether I should go through the hassle of returning and replacing on that basis alone. Probably not, but, hmm...

This is true but pointless me having something that won't be used and added weight to what I've been told is already a heavy bass.
The weight of a couple of extra bit of plastic and wiring is negligible, which is pretty much what it comes down to.

I don't have scales (erm, no pun) but the V7 is a little heavier than my Fender P Bass. Not sure that really helps, but I wouldn't say it was exceptionally heavy, but certainly not on the lightest side either.

I’m contemplating taking a jig saw to mine.
I was thinking the EXACT same thing!
I would never do it, but it's so tempting...
It's as though those headstocks are supposed to double up as paddles 🤔

...And I'm fecking loving learning the bass.
I didn't want to be one of those guitarists that would pick up a bass and think by default that they can play the instrument.
No.
And whilst the guitar actually feels quite alien in my hands now (I must factor in enough practice time) actively learning the Bass has been the best decision I have made in many a year.
Thanks for your support ✊

Know what? I can proudly say I've been practicing Hit Me With Your Rhytym Stick daily, and am now playing it at almost full speed. Have to say I'm quite pleased about that, especially as I've only been playing bass less than 6 months (OK, but with many years of guitar behind me). I didn't think my fingers would ever be able to do this 😃

Bass playing aside, the most impressive thing about this song is Ian's knowledge of world geography 🌍

Two songs I'm currently working on are:
- Jamirioquai - Too Young Too Due
- Vulfpeck - Wait for the Moment
I really like both of these bass lines.
In addition to that I'm working on general jamming / improvising basslines on the fly skills.
Too Young to Die was one of the first pieces I nailed as a non-bassist. Always wanted to learn more early Jamiroquai, which is what made me start learning the bass in earnest this summer just past.

This very second I'm working on finishing an entire stollen, accompanied by several glasses of Cava.
Music-wise, I always have a few pieces going, but my main goal is to get up to speed with River People (Weather Report/Jaco).

I've had mine may years, so I doubt I'd get a discount.
Wouldn't ask for one either at this point as I've had good use out of them, although the stickyness is a little annoying. -
I've had the exact same problem with both of my stands!

And then there's this... That intro, followed by that soulful funk!

To be fair - and as already mentioned - somehow, in the 'flesh' the headstock isn't anywhere near as remarkable (or offensive) as you'd think judging from the pictures. Odd.
