yeah, I like the rocky stuff mainly and I don't think any of the others play on it, could be wrong,  some I've just got fed up with hearing them, that's one of them

Tell it ! Some tunes have a good bass part and some songs are a recording experiment that turned out nice . I like rock .

  2. My Wick is around 2000 and has those bronze type frets . When Warwick started the German Team Built basses (was it 2005 ?) the nickel-silver ones were used . Do they sound different ? How about stainless frets on a 'Ray ?

  3. you want a wide-enough cab for your head to look like a normal 'stack'. I would maybe consider the cheapest Eden - they used to make one seriously cheap (no wood, only mdf )  Now i stack 2 Ashdown Rootmaster 15 cabinets . Too slender for your Bassman. side-by side ? grey-silver grill would match a Fender head ... There is no end and I like it like that. rules are made to be broken- rant out ,Gren

Indeed. Why buy a bass when there's trees all along my road? Charging for wood is a rip off.

where are the Fender trees cut down anyway ? how many trees want to be cut down ? I planted a maple tree but I probably owe our planet a lot more ...The cheaper Player is my fav.

  5. I PLAYED THE AP PERFORMER PRECISION THIS WEEK AT THE LOCAL STORE. I HAD PREVIOUSLY SEEN A PHOTO OF DUSTY HILL (ZZ TOP) SIGHTING DOWN THE EDGE OF THE FINGERBOARD SO I LOOKED AT IT FIRST. THE NECK HAD MORE CURVE ON ONE EDGE THAN THE OTHER. SO IT PLAYED LIKE A TWISTED NECK WITH HIGH ACTION. IT DID SOUND VERY CRISP ON TOP THROUGH A TRAYNOR 200 WITH 4 KT-88 TUBES !!!! HEY- THIS AMP BEAT MY OLD MARSHALL MAJOR ! THE SALES GUY WENT ON ABOUT AMERICAN QUALITY AND I LET HIM SPEAK HIS PEACE. THE  ENSENADA, MEXICO PRECISION WAS (IN THIS VISIT) BETTER. HARD CASE -$ 100

My use would primarily be with guitar rather than bass as my bass amp is solid state..........

Probably should have put thread in guitar dept. But it's been interesting to hear peoples experience and views on attenuators.

The Fender amp in question is a Pro Junior (15watt) but pushing the valves at the right level is still far too loud for home use!

I have that 15w Pro Jr. as well paul ! It is louder than than I ever play my sterio. My Yamaha sterio amp has 85 watts RMS each side - the power of two Twin Reverbs !!

  7. I noticed my early Jaguar Bass (Japan) had a spring-loaded battery connector . If I knocked on the body it would crackle . A clip-on connector is what stays tight.

  8. I wonder if the newest 4003 sounds or feels much different ?? This Jetglo 4003 was a great bargain. A new one will cost almost $2000 /I miss my old Mapleglo and want another one.

  9. Didn't Chris use that 100 with Yes ? With inverted 412 Fender cabinet ? He also had a Marshall 100 head on a Sunn 612 when he played Birmingham, Huntsville, and Atlanta. The sound man had him cranked up plenty !! (my Bassman was a humble 50 ) This head sounded good , but a 100 Ampeg V4 was more good.

Is there anything special about 'jetglo' or is it just marketingspeak for 'black'?

I heard their finishes were trade secrets not to be revealed . They take a ding without flaking off paint (much). So Jetglo  stays pure black without light -colored battle scars.
