Also, the Embassy is usually significantly cheaper than the Thunderbird, the geometry is "better" (in that the tuners are not in the next time zone), and the Embassy I had was super light - great if you like that sort of thing/have back issues.
the embassy is a glue-on neck like gibson use. this disproves my idea that neck-thru was necessary for proper thunderbird tone.

I bought a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster gtr. I wanted a tremolo to use like Jeff Beck.

I have a U5 and a D5 . The U5 may be my best sounding short scale bass . The D5 is a lot easier to reach around the neck than a '51 style bass and looks the same. It is lighter too.

Hi- I like Ashdown too . Live At Leeds is my favorite live album !

when seated strap locks rattle. I do use them . They add length to a bass when in a hard case.

He deserves nothing more!
I have an old AKG with a three position tone switch . It has been dropped many times . When I let a guit player use it I tell them it cost more than a Shure. Not that I got it very used for $20 ! The Beatles used on their second US tour (with Vox Super Beatle Amps ) a dark colored SM 57 mic that screwed onto the mic stand. I have one of these and I am picky about who spits into it.

The pickups are available as a spare part: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PUTBRCC2--gibson-accessories-thunderbird-bass-reissue-pickup-chrome
I wouldn’t put one in any of my mustangs though.
Once I put a large Dimarzio (like an EBO )pickup near the bridge on a 'Stang I used to have. This was backwards from everyone else. I used the tone pot for a volume - 2 volumes . It had a Fender tone with some raunchy highs added. A punk musician later bought it.

I like my AKG D5. I want a mic that screws onto the stand . Not an old historic Shure . Ideas anyone ?

There was a used one for $1500 at the local shop. Can I buy chrome pickups like that for my Mustang ?

I wedge one into the amp by the grill or the chassis of the head. One in the back pocket of pants and one in the little jeans pocket. I can't afford to toss them away.

The 2x12 is 8 ohm only, I suppose watts are cheap these days but an option of 4 ohm would be welcome.
The selling point is the fact they are Ampeg and lightweight.
Yes- I liked the 300 with 212 cab. The tone switches really change the tone a lot. How many watts for one cabinet ? This amp might be nice-it sounded good to me.

His given name was not "Dusty". A new bass can sound good too.

I did for years, may well go back to it. I'll add Boz Burrell in Bad Company to the list.
When I heard Bad Company he used a fretless Ampeg bass. On the records I just assumed it was fretted. Surprise!

They wrote "Gibson" on the head pretty well.

What do you suppose the sidemen and singers get per month when the Stones are not touring, recording, or rehearsing ?
-
I am on the verge of ordering a Cavern Contemporary if it sounds different ? I have the regular CT 500/1 and do not go for a bassy tone with roundwounds and use of the bridge pickup. The Macca tone I like best is Penny Lane, Rain, Hey Bulldog . Those tunes may be Paul's Rickenbacker ? Thomann sell it cheaper than any store in the States.

Around town bands usually have to carry their own PA. That's why I have 4 nice EV cabinets with 15/horn . My car might move all four and a small bass amp. Or get help with a truck ?
-
Yes- roll on Stones ! The alternative is a Keith solo band .And a Mick solo band. Mick got Jeff Beck to play on "Just Another Night" (Small hit). The music is better when they help each other. If the Stones would accept outside songwriting (Modern 2023 ) , they would get some new catchy songs. But not songwriting royalties paid to Mick and Keith.

I plug into a Tascam recorder and it is nice sometimes. It responds to pick and palm mute by the bridge (exciting surf rock ) or fingers by the fingerboard for mellow tones. I want to mix two sounds somehow.

I am always amazed that an amp or PA from Mississippi is used much in the UK . Local bands in Birmingham, Alabama used PV then and now. Tight vocal harmony is rare in my area. We didn't have a music store that sold Marshall until 1974 !

My oldest Japan Jaguar has more knobs and more twang (I'll bet ) than this passive bucker bass . This one might sound more like a Gibson .
-
Cool mods and nice knobs too ! I wish for some stacked knobs so each pickup can be tweeked . I have gotten shy about cutting and drilling -your bass came out great !
Oasis to reform?

oasis is one of many bands to mix the bass as the quietest instrument. Macca made sure his Hofner was louder (like Motown).
