  1. Nice clean example of a German Warwick Corvette from the 90s heyday. Passive MEC jazz style pickups. Made of the classic combo of bubinga body and wenge neck, this thing sounds like a Warwick should! Also has the brass just a nut. would also consider a trade for a P Bass. Free UK postage, or collection welcome from High Wycombe, Bucks.

  3. I started work a couple of weeks ago, and have taken some pics so I'll start a build thread soon 😀
  4. I couldn't see it at first, and now I can't unsee it!! I'll have to try and make a feature of him in the finished article. Just started with the build so I'll start up a thread soon.
  5. Awesome, thanks! Can't wait to get this one underway... I'll make sure I start a build thread on here.
  6. Thanks Andy, some great inspiration there! All of those builds are beauties. I think the ebony dust / epoxy effect is what I'd pictured in my mind's eye. It'll take ages to fill all those holes but it'll be worth it! The top feels pretty solid though so I'm hoping I won't have to coat the whole thing in epoxy to stabilize it. Might give it a slight amber stain too to make it pop. Thanks again!
  7. Hey guys/gals, I've just bought this camphor burl top for my new build and was just wondering if anyone here has used similar and how you went about void filling? I tried clear epoxy on a poplar burl top once and ended up with a milky looking finish to the voids. I was wondering if black epoxy or sawdust and epoxy would do a better job.
  8. Interesting, I've seen them on eBay. I know they're generic re-branded chinese pickups so good to see some guys with positive experiences.
  9. They look great... do you know if he does 5 string pups? Can't see them mentioned on the site.
  10. Hi, I'm currently building my first bass and am looking for advice on pickups. I couldn't see a pickup section so I thought this was the closest section. Please let me know if this should be somewhere else. I've built several guitars and have changed pickups in almost every guitar I've ever had, so I'm pretty knowledgeable there, but bass pickups seem to be another kettle of fish. Most of the highly recommended brands (Bartolini, Nordstrand etc.) seem to be almost impossible to get hold of in the UK, and reviews of pickups in general are few and far between compare to guitar pickups. I guess I'm looking for advice on what's available in the UK and what some of you guys recommend. I'm not limited by pickup shape as I'm building the bass, but I play a fair bit of rock and metal. I have a Yamaha TRBX605 and really like the active pre amp and dual humbuckers, but I also love the bridge pickup in my Sterling Sub5, so I was thinking a Musicman style pickup in the bridge, then something more versatile in the neck. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi guys and gals, I'm 38 years old and been a bedroom guitarist for 15+ years, until recently I was asked if I wanted to have a go at bass in a band. I though "why not, how hard can it be?". It's so similar but so different and I've well and truly been bitten by the bug! I sold my guitar amp and most of my guitars and currently have a Ampeg PF500 amp and a Yamaha TBRX605 and Sterling Sub5 bass. Playing bass is challenging me in a very different way than guitar, and I've definitely become a better musician. We haven't played any gigs yet but it's great jamming with other people, I wish I'd done it a lot sooner!
