    I put a new rig together today, when I finished I tested it with a couple of basses and I was really happy. But I went back to it a couple of hours later and it was too noisy. It sounds like ground hum. Sansamp RBI Orange 4 Stroke Rack mounted and powered with Samson power conditioner. I've tried bypassing the power conditioner and just used 2 power cables, tried a few different instrument, patch and speaker cables, it doesn't matter if a bass is plugged in or not or whether I'm plugged in direct or through my pedal board.I've tried a couple of sockets incase it was a dodgy plug. I've narrowed it down to the Sansamp because if I plug directly into the Orange there's minimal noise. With the 'Active' button on it's at its worst, obviously because the gain is amplifying the hum, but it's still there with the Sansamp off. I'm not sure what could have changed in a couple of hours? Any ideas how I can get rid of the hum? It's too loud to be used at rehearsals or gigs. A search online suggests something like the Ebtech Hum Eliminator between the Sansamp and Orange would do it?     Sadly need to part ways with this. Its always been my favourite amp and was a bit of an impulse but I really need something a little lighter. All tube 300 watts of Ampeg tone. Good condition, some small scuffs but nothing major. The previous owner put in a new set of power tubes in just before the sale and I put in all new preamp and driver tubes shortly after that. It's done a handful of gigs at around 3 on the master since and always been given plenty of time to warm up and cool down before and after. Comes with padded cover for extra protection. Obviously due to the size and weight I won't be shipping this, so ideally it's cash on collection from Walsall, West Midlands. I will however travel within reason to meet or deliver. £750 or offers please. Any questions or for additional photos please give me a shout!

    Painting a Pedaltrain

    I considered that, but as I use the Volto, I'm all good for ground clearance. I already had a set of taps too so it wasn't any extra effort.

    Has anyone else painted a Pedaltrain board before? Here's my first attempt. Didn't remove the black finish, just gave it a key with a fine sanding sponge. 5 thin coats of nitro, then a couple of coats of clear poly I had. The only pain was having to drill out the rivets on the feet, then tapping the hole to create a thread to screw them back on. Turned out pretty well

    NYXL strings

    Apologies if this has been covered! I've been using regular XL 45-105s for years on bass. On guitar I managed to get some free NYXLs and was really impressed how fast they settled in, their tone, their stability and strength and their life span, though I do change strings regularly. Before I splash out an extra £8 a set on NYXL bass strings over regular Xls, are the improvements the same on the bass sets? I love the sound and feel of fresh strings and generally have to change them once a month on my number 1 bass, if the NYXLs last a bit longer plus the additional benefits like the guitar sets I'd consider paying the extra.

    Long time lurker, never signed up. I thought it was about time! I have serious GAS and gear comes and goes regularly but my live rig has been pretty fixed recently..... really happy with it and it performed amazing recording my band's debut EP recently. Nash PB-57 Bitsa P Bass TU-2 MXR Bass Comp Way Huge Pork & Pickle Orange OB1-300 and 2x Amp SVT210H Cabs My current project I'm working on is a Fender Roadworn Flea Jazz Bass, routed for PJ configuration, concentric master volume/tone and a 3 way toggle. If anyone can recommend someone midlands based to do the routing, let me know! I also have my eye out for another Nash to retire the Bitsa bass, probably a PB-63.
