1. Hey My band is having a bit of a 20 years since our first gig celebration. If anybody's in the area and fancies coming along, it's free entry and we'd massively appreciate the extra faces in the audience! https://www.facebook...32783010080350/ Frog and Fiddle, Cheltenham. 21st August 2015. 7pm. Cheers Rich
2. Hi I'll have a set of cream if you've still got them. PM me payment details. Cheers Rich
3. Did a Jazz pickup swap with Grant (my Model J's for his Hot Rod 84s). Think we both sent and received on the same days, and I'm perfectly happy with my new pickups. Cheers
4. Bought a Boss Chorus pedal from Rory. A pleasure to do business with - no problems whatsoever. Cheers
5. Bought a Jazz neck from King Tut. Courier managed to misplace the parcel, but Colin sorted it out perfectly and I now have the neck, which I am very pleased with. Cheers
6. Hi If they're still in good condition with good length wires I'll swap my Model Js with you. I put them in my jaguar but am not getting on with them for some reason - a bit too dark for my liking. I also don't want to swap my covers, as I've got cream covers which I'd like to keep. Rich
7. I'll take it with a courier if you've still got it. If you have, PM me where to paypal payment to with your address and phone number and I'll organise a courier to collect it. Cheers
8. No probs. I'll wait til I find some Lindy Fralins I think - that's ultimately what I'm looking for. Cheers
9. Hah! I didn't think I'd ever say it, but I've got enough Jazz basses already! What about the 75 pickups, or do you want to keep those with the bass? Rich
10. Are you interested in selling the Lindy Fralins separately? Cheers Rich
11. I bought his Orange 1x15 cab from him everything went perfectly. Bryn was happy to box it up and courier it to me, so I bank transferred the money to him and it was with me in a matter of days.
12. Thanks for all of your suggestions - I'm tempted to find more out about the Lindy Fralins - they seem to get pretty good reviews! Or the vintage fender route, which may be a little cheaper.
13. Paddy - would you be able to post a picture of one of yours by any chance?
14. Hi I have a Jaguar bass, which I have removed all active circuitry and pickups from, as I'm not a big fan and prefer to stick with fuss free simple setups. I replaced the pickups with a couple of Dimarzio Model Js, which for some reason just aren't cutting it for me - they seem quite dark, even with 500k pots, not a lot of mid range bite (compared to my 78 jazz, which I love the sound of). Does anybody have any good recommendations of some nice pickups I could put in it that might be a bit more like my 78. I'm not looking for identical, just a bit more character than the Dimarzios and a little bit more aggressive in the mids. I like a bass that drives my Ampeg a bit. Cheers Rich
15. Thanks for posting that Ikay. That does suggest it's not a genuine one after all. I have compared it to a 60th anniversary CIJ 51 reissue and it also has some differences to that - the rivet is flat topped and it also has the washer under the screw. I think I may just stick it up on ebay as a 51 "style" but say that it's origin is unknown and see if anybody wants it. Cheers Rich
16. I wonder if anybody can help me. I have just bought a lovely 72/73 Precision (Sunburst with a red tortoishell scratchplate and a Rosewood A neck). The tuner for the G string had been replaced at some point and worked backwards to the others so I wanted to replace it. I contacted David from http://www.cotswoldbassguitars.co.uk/ who kindly found me an exact match for the bass, which we have just fitted. We speculated as to whether the one we took off could actually be an older one, as it appears to be a 51-57 style according to David's Fender bass book. Does anybody have one that I can compare photos/measurements to? Or can anybody tell from my photos? One of the edges seems to have been sheered off a little (left hand side of photo2). Cheers Rich
17. Wicked. Thanks guys. I think I'll invest in some nice Fender ones, unless anybody pops up with some they are getting rid of in the meantime. Thanks Rich
18. Hi All, I wonder if anybody can help me. I've got a mid 80s Japanese Fender Precision, whose machine heads aren't the best (or at least they're not as smooth/stable as some of my other fenders). Does anybody know what would be a good upgrade for them, ideally Fender own, or at least looking very similar if not, and using the same holes with no modification? I've attached a photo of them if it helps. They look to me like they might be Fender/Schaller 70s style ones. Can anybody confirm this? Cheers Rich
