Much like the problem some people have with traction control in cars - if you take the time to learn about it and work with it then it can be a useful tool. However if you either don't understand how it works or use it properly it feels obstructive and unnatural.

I reckon you have found the reason for such a crazy deal..

Melksham. 'nuff said.
Scene of Gary Glitter's first gig, allegedly!

I modified an Ashdown combo head to make it rack-mountable. I purchased it in a homemade wooden casing which was crap!
10 mins with an angle grinder, another 10 with a dremel de-burring the cuts. 4 holes drilled in the front.
I used the offcut pieces of the casing to add some strength across the top using the existing holes where it mounted to the combo, otherwise it flexed quite a bit.

I was thinking of bringing my Fender MIJ Jazz Bass Special (which isn't really a Jazz!) my Allen Eden Jazz (which is) a Hutchins Thunderbolt Tele, Hohner B bass IV and my BC Rich Zombie so anyone that wants to can experience the horror!

I can bring a set of electro/acoustic bass strings for the raffle if that's any use?
I'm planning on bringing a selection of my bass guitars too, just the interesting ones and probably my little Marshall practice amp as the sound of the fan in my Hartke will probably cause offence!

^^ exactly my attitude.
I worked out I have spent around 3.5k and could see closer to 5k back thanks to some lucky buys.

I like themes in my collecting, I used to have four fake Fenders (and one real) but that is now three with one more for sale. I have a thing for natural wood finishes, and am liking the idea of companions for the ones I really like!
My current count stands at 18, with one for sale and at least one more going up for sale this weekend but I really struggle to let any go..

I got the same email, but am also already registered.

They're heavy, but not Travis Bean heavy!

Actually, I take my opinion back, I just opened a sealed pack of them now and there are only 3 strings in there! D'Adderio string takewaway
You should contact them, there should be a code on the packaging.
I love D'addario strings, and if you register the codes online for points you can get free stuff including new strings

I like them, and want to try as many as possible so I try to buy low in order to not lose too much money. I have recently picked up some real bargains that have sat unused and unloved for years, cleaned them, set them up with new strings and then sold on for a very modest profit. The hope is that I can gradually trade up to some more exotic models.
They are all different, and I find that I play differently as a consequence.

You'll be surprised, the bridge is standard - I have two PJBS basses and the first had this type of bridge too! The good news is that like for like models can be found brand new on eBay for little cash (I replaced mine)
Well I didn't know that
This one would make an ideal companion to mine, but I need to sell a couple first (and I have difficulty letting them go!)
-
That's nice, and is a good price in my opinion.
That bridge isn't standard, but looks good quality.

I didn't like dance music, then Leftfield came along and changed everything.

He has loads of guitars and basses for sale, all Thomann seconds.
-
There is no right or wrong answer to that question - you just have to try them and see.
I don't like 38mm myself, but others do.

The guy on eBay is selling for about the same price or more than a non D-marked model from Thomann. I'd call that deliberately dishonest.

There's a seller on eBay named "barmcgabarr" who's clearly buying a lot of deko guitars and then selling them on at full non-deko price. He's got a JB-75 deko selling for £140, yet they're normally £125 (and deko is around £35). He's got a JA-60SB for £120, but retail non-deko is £114.70! He doesn't mention Harley Benton and determinedly avoids showing the headstock front on. The "D"s stamped in the back are clear to see on the photos, but he doesn't mention them.
I got caught out by this guy, before I was aware of Thomann selling D marked models.
Mine seems OK, but obviously resale value is affected.

I am always browsing for more basses and will certainly recognise that if it comes up.
-
A bit cheeky this, in my opinion. You can clearly see the D stamp below the neckplate in photo 3.
I got caught out by the same seller once..

^^ Fire engines too
