  1. We got $500.00 this past Sunday. You really can't get anymore $ for a 4 hour bar gig in my area. Blue
  2. Yeah, Jimi's time slot was weird. Blue
  3. Cool article, In the States if your were making $18,000.00 annually in 1969 you were doing pretty good. Blue
  4. Even in my area, we still have bars that book bands. However, the majority have clientle that have no interest in live bands. You get paid but there's no good side to this story. Four hours of drudgery. You can't win. And to make matters worse, your usually in a room separate from the bar. Even my " cheer leader " gig mind set fails in these bars. A real drag.
  5. None of those bands were famous at that time. Maybe to musicians only. I heard Sly & The Famy Stone got $2,500.00 for Woodstock. I wluld have thought Santana would have been paid the same rate. Blue
  6. Im working on that. 😄 Blue
  7. I'm approached by punters during breaks at gigs. Most of the time they really don't have much to say. I always thank them for coming out and I tell them about upcoming gigs. Blue
  8. When a band is directly responsible for bringing in a crowd adding significantly to the alchhol sales, you can raise your fee accordingly. This should be an obvious win to any astute pub or bar owner. Blue
  9. I'm listening to alot of live footage of Bad Finger. Blue
  10. I'd like to give my BL credit. She knows how important being a part of our 3 out front with vocals stage plot is to me. I've never been a " stand back by the drummer" bass player. Blue
  11. We did a Sunday afternoon Biker Bar gig, 3:00-7:00. Because of our festival and fair bookings all summer, this was our first 4 hour gig in 4 months. Playing 4 hours was a challenge for me, especially in a historic landmark building with no air conditioning. However, we drew a good Sunday afternoon crowd with lots of familiar faces. And this place is way out in the sticks. Tbe band sounded good . 1. Play a good show 2. Get the money 3. Get home safely Blue
  12. Lee is from Milwaukee.YAY! Blue
  13. I've been playing clean and sober for the last 35 years. For me it's been fantastic. I like being in complete control, if my mind is altered by stimulants or alcohol I'm no longer in control. Blue
  14. When I play higher profile gigs it always been fast pace shows. I'm usuallyy too busy to get nervous. I can get nervous at times but it's usually not because of the size of the crowd but who's in tbe crowd. We have some local "heavy hitters" that can intimidate me. Blue
  15. Thd Baree gig last night was great. We played from 6:30-9:30,very appreciative crowd. We put on a good show Got the money Got home safely Blue
  16. Sounds like a nice fun weekend, nice to be busy. I have a triple header weekend. Blue
  17. I have an acoustic gig tonight and full Maple Road gig tomorrow night 6:30-9:30 Blue
  18. I'm 65, off topic. I have friends my age that will say, " She approached you to talk and take a selfie and you didn't get her phone number?" No, I didn't. I'm not 18 and I'm there to work not pick up women. I just want to go home. Blue
  19. Yeah, when space is tight it seems like it's always us that gets the short end of the stick Here's how I handle it; " There's not enough room for your amp, you'll have to DI through the PA." Me; "No , I'm playing through my amp" Blue
  20. The boat cruise was good .It was a lot of work but still fun We played 2 hours straight, no breaks. We were loud. Our band drew over 100 people that paid $25.00 a pop to see us. The crowd was fantastic Blue
  21. We have a boat cruze gig on Lake Michigan tonight. Join Maple Road aboard The Vista King Saturday Night 7/27/2019 9pm - 11pm Milwaukee Boat Line 101 W Michigan St, Milwaukee Blue
  22. If you don't have the gig bug now chances are gigging is not for you. For me, I still love the challenge of gigging. I like the demand of the skill sets necessary to make live performance work. But keep in mind playing in a band is not a fun hobby for me. Blue
  23. I think you also have to consider the level of an originals band The guys that have been around a particular scene for a while, the act is solid with a large number of fans can get good festival bookings. I'm not sure how it works for new guys starting out Blue
  24. Depends on what the originals scene is like where the band is playing. Festival gigs would be far and few in-between for local originals bands in my neck of the woods. I've seen it from both sides. Blue
