We have a place called Martin's. It's a neighborhood bar restaurant that books good bands on Wednesday nights. Place is small always packed. We've been asked to play there many times. We always diplomatically declined. They don't pay the bands they only offer a meal. Blue

I'm providing a service at these types of events. I'm not a guest. I'm no different than those serving or cleaning up. I never eat at gigs. I eat earlier in the day at home. Blue

Nice recording. I haven't seen many bands at the local level pull this sort of groove off live. Blue

I'm not above doing a crap gig for the money. But even I have to draw the line at some point. Bad name, not at these private events that wouldn't happen. There's nobody in attendance that could have any impact on reputation or long term earnings. Blue

It was a very long night. Probably the worst 4 hours of my life. Yeah, and why would she want us back. Blue

No, there the kind of bars I'm embarrassed to be seen playing in. We call it "take the money and run" gigs. As much as I need the money some gigs are not worth it. We played an employee appreciation party, a private event mostly folks under 25. They ignored us. During our break they played hip hop through our pa and they were all up dancing.A real mismatch, not uncommon with private parties for us. The owner recently asked us to play another party, we declined. Blue

Doesn't sound like a bad place to me. We have ongoing gigs at places we historically don't do well in for whatever reason. These are the places I don't promote. Blue

Ashamed and embarrassed might have been a poor choice of words. We have gigs where I invite people to. The nice higher end clubs and festivals and fairs. Then we have some gigs that are in bad clubs in bad areas that I don't promote. Blue

That pic is close to being 10 years old. And those Dan Electro basses are not bad. A lot of fun to play. Blue

I never play for free. Who would even ask someone to play a 4 hour gig and provide lights and sound for free? Blue

Never been ashamed or embarrassed, however definitely played some bars I'd never mention or invite anyone to see us there. Take Hops & Pops, in a really bad section of the inner city. We were taking our lives into our own hands just going down there. Plus it was always a 9:30 - 1:30 gig, really bad hours. The clientle, everyone there looked like they were released from prison that morning. Scary place. we stopped playing there a year ago. Blue

Awesome pic and what a great looking. room. I love hearing about gigs like this. We have a few cool gigs like this, but usually the next weekend it's back to the real world. Blue

Happens to all of us. It's one of the things about the local bar/ club business that bugs me. These places that really don't have their act together for live music. Do the owners understand the logistics of providing live music, do they understand their clientle? Blue

How many of us have played bars or clubs where you'd be embarrassed or ashamed to invite your friends of family to. Tell us why. You don't have to use the real name of the venue. Use a fictitious name. Old pick from 2010. Blue

Yeah, I guess there are somethings you can't cover with questions. I remember auditioning for a band once and I could tell from they're personalities they'd never leave the basement. Blue

I do a lot of home work and ask a lot of questions before I audition. I never audition unless I really want to be in the band. So, I would never turn down an offer. Why would you turn down an offer, didn't really want to be in the band, found out things about the band after the audition that made you turn down the offer? Blue

Just remember some of the best bass players are not the best band members. Blue

Everyone I've known that has purchased a looper pedal has never used it or bothered to learn how to use it. Blue

We did the 7:30- 11:30 at Fat Charlie's in Ritchfield last night. Another good gig. I guess Thanksgiving Eve is also a big party night. Good crowd including several long time fans I hadn't seen for a while. And the room isn't as separated from the bar as I thought. Fun night. Blue

Ok, The Filmore House gig was cool. Small rural party bar. Nice people come there to relax ,party and get loaded and they love live bands. I arrived at 7:00 and couldn't even find a parking space and eventually had to park illegally. Overall it was a fun gig, the band sounded great last night. Very "old school" rock bar gig. Such a nice crowd. It was an 8:00-12:00 gig, the BL didn't call for a break until 10:15. So playing 2 hours plus without a break was a little weird. At one point I thought it was 1972. I had a fun night guys. Blue

There are excellent YouTube bass tutorials for all those songs. You should be able to nail all those songs if you really want to be in this band. Blue
